North Korea opens Plutonium Breeder Reactor

'One bombsworth per year' apparently. What is that relative to yankee capacity one wonders.

North Korea strikes me as a most interesting nation in how it operates. It seems bent on becoming a world power, yet possesses few resources and little land. It is smaller than the UK yet never had any colonies and certainly hasn't a Commonwealth of which to speak. It is just a buffer state.

Strange nation.

So now they've opened a reactor. That means they will have "closing down the reactor" as a bargaining chip in future talks. They can already write the "we close reactor, you give us food" contract and store it for next time the food silos start going empty.

They don't intend to bomb anybody, that would just mess up the status quo the people in charge enjoy so much today. All they do is gathering bargaining chips for the next round of talks.

  • Since they want Plutonium so badly, why not use a drone to liberally sprinkle the reactor site with it.  We could give them what they want in finely divided powder form if it isn't too pyrophoric.  Some collateral damage, but I don't think that would bother them.
