I don't have friends on Origin (and the ones I have friended never seem to be on).  This doesn't bug me.  However I'm kind of perplexed by the "join game" screen, what they were thinking when they designed it.

They let you filter by "games containing abandoned cities" and by "sandbox mode", but I don't want to take over cities people were already working with "abandoned cities" because I'd rather start my own (and half the time those cities have "you don't have some of the content used to create it"), and I don't really want to play sandbox mode (the game feels pointless if I don't have upgrades to look forward to).

The thing is I do want to play in a reigion with other folks, in cities connected to those other folks.  I don't see why they don't let you sort by "games containing unclaimed cites" or "games without sandbox mode" or "games with currently active players inside".  Why aren't those options available?
