RHW entrances and exits

Since I got much better at using RHW 4, I decided to up things a bit on my newest big city and try RHW 65S as my main thruway.  I couldn't place on and off ramps though.  I could place an on ramp, but when I tried to place an off ramp in the same area on the opposite side of the highway, it just stayed as an on ramp.  I hit home and end keys but couldn't change it.  Any idea why, or what I am doing wrong?  Had the same problem with RHW 4, but sometimes if I moved the ramp up or down a tile it then worked.  Doesn't seem to work with RHW 65S.  So I destroyed the whole thing and built an RHW 4.

There's a few possibilities.  You may be trying to place the RHW-6S ramp interfaces really close to the starter or another puzzle piece, or on some sort of slope--those conditions will cause the ramp interface to freak out.

If you're using a Type A1 or Type B1 ramp, you might be able to use the FLEXRamp functionality instead, which, while limited at present, is more slope tolerant and doesn't have any slope-unfriendly starter stubs on it.

  • There is no slope, I tried placing it on a flat piece of land.  I count 7,8, or 9 tiles from my intersection (where a road/ave/whatever crosses the highway, to where along the highway I place the ramp) before placing my ramp... so I think all of that shouldn't be a problem, unless I should be placing my ramps even farther away, want to leave room for building things though...?  I am using a type A1 ramp...

You can also try the following:

    1. Demolish a small piece of the stretch of RHW you want to place your ramp on

    2. Place the RHW ramp in the right orientation.

    3. If it doesn't get into the right orientation, demolish a bit more

    4. If you demolished too much, rebuild.

    Hope this helps ;)
