I'm new here. I just wonder whats difference between Lot file and Bat file?

I know how to install bat file, just save them in /plugin folder, but for lot file, do I have to create a new folder under plugin folder: plugin/Lot/  to make it work?

also whats prop files? are they all  have same installation? put them all in plugin folder?
can anyone tell me? Thank you so  much

Originally BAT file was a gMax model that you put on a lot file.  Now BAT, and Lot is used interchangeably most of the time.  If the file has the .sc4lot extension, it is a file you put in the plugin folder.  Most downloads come in zip files which may have more than one file, usually you put all of them in the plugin folder.

Prop files are needed to support the lot files, objects [props] that are used on the lot other than the building.  And yes they also need to be in the plugin folder.

You can use subfolders to the plugin folder to keep things organized, very much recommended.

Some of the downloads on the STEX are self installing .exe files, and some of those will create subfolders to install into.

like said before...BAT are made with the Bat and Gmax programs, this makes entirely new buildings from scratch...the Lots are buildings or parks made from the Lot Editor, and earlier version program that makes buildings from pieces that already exist in your game or plugin folder

props are small objects made with the BAT program...theri not actually stuctures themselves, but are pieces use to enhance a lot or BAT (eg air conditioning unit, vending machine, anything you can think of)

from a gamers only point of view, BATs and Lots function in the same manner...put them in your plugins folder for the lots to appear in your menus (plopable buildings) , Growable building you will have to zone properly and wait for conditions are right for the game to choose the building to grow.

props don't appear themselves in the game...they sit in your plugins folder and wait for a building to call the prop into use, ithout the proper props you may experinece odd visual efects on the buildings (brown paper package building appearing or even possible holes in the building)
