Expansion Packs

I downloaded the Crime Doesn't Pay mod but it indicates the Rush Hour expansion pack is required. I purchased this version (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00457VJ3G/ref=dsvrt_review_asin_detail) but am unsure if that includes the expansion pack as some places indicate that it does and others do not.

Is there an easy way to tell what expansion packs are installed?

On September 22, 2003, Maxis released an expansion pack for SimCity 4 dubbed Rush Hour. SimCity 4: Deluxe Edition, a bundle of the original SimCity 4 game and the Rush Hour expansion pack, was released on the same day.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SimCity_4#Additional_content_and_releases

So yes, if you bought the "de Luxe" version, you also have the expansion pack.

Not necessarily.  Download versions of late have been version 1,1,641.  If your game runs without a disk in the CD drive, this is the one you have.  It is fully patched and ready to go.  You can check this by using windows explorer to find SimCity 4.exe and hover your mouse over it.  It should report your version number.

There are only 2 options here.  You either need the EP1 patch and the BAT patch OR you do not need any patches at all.

To check the version number and this is important.....click >Start>Computer>(whatever file folder you have the game installed to)>Maxis>simcity 4 deluxe>apps

Now you should see the simcity 4 application there, right click it and select "properties" from the drop down menu.  Then click the "details" tab, and there you should see the version number.

If your game is any version other than 1.1.640 OR 1.1.641 then you need both the EP1 patch and the bat patch.  If your game version DOES match then you do not do anything at all, you just go enjoy your game.

If your game is anything other than the mentioned versions and your game STILL does not accept the patches, chances are really good we would no longer be able to discuss it anymore for reasons I cannot explain without being in violation of an agreement I have never seen or read but has been hinted at strongly by many site veterans.(LOL)  We will sic A Nonny Moose on you and you don't want that.
