My city is making loads of money, but I'm getting these funky opportunities...

I spent all night playing SC4 and through the fruits of my labor (and inability to settle down and sleep because of stress) I wound up with a city that is currently hosting a population of over 13,000 and generating an income of about 1,400. In fact, the city currently has more than 3 times the amount it started with in the coffers. The education level is quite high from what I understand. All ages have an education rating ranging between 120 and 200 and only a few small parts of the city have lower ratings, which I'm sure will fix itself over time since the only thing that isn't covering the whole map right now is the library range. I intend to fix that over time but right now I'm working on other issues, like trying to fit in more  commercial and residential and work on bringing the HT demand back up (It's been wavering back and forth. I'm sure as I build more residential the HT will go back up.

However, I've never really been one to use the deals and I know building a casino is one of those deals, but without even touching the ordinances and deals, I'm getting an opportunity to drive around a sim that wants to build a Casino in a certain part of the city (it says something about a graveyard or something) and it's a bit annoying that I'm getting that as an option on the u-drive-it thing. Should I go through with it? Will it negatively affect my city?

Also, I have the opportunity to have a Disease Research Center. I remember reading something about that being bad, but are there alternatives? Is there a way I could have the disease research center without the negative consequences?

For the U drive it mission:  I'm not an expert as I never almost use that feature but I can tell their effects, either positive or negative, doesn't last for long. So if you are interested in the mission, you can do it without fearing the consequences.

About the disease research center, the "bad" thing is that it has a bit of radiation oozing from it. Not enough to be a real trouble though, only close neighbours will somehow suffer of it. However, you have multiple alternatives: a replacement building or a mod that will iron out the radiation of the original maxis building. Just search "disease research" in the STEX and those will pop on top of the page.

As for u-drive-it I always turn that off. I ain't got no time to drive! I'm a mayor. It's bad enough I have to stop what I'm doing when a fire breaks out. The research center isn't bad. Just make sure it's not too close to an R and that should be fine!

You can stop the u-drive it missions by going to the sims tab and clicking on the bottom sub-tab. If you like them then yes many have consequences and rewards... you can check by allowing them to settle for a month or two and then checking the graphs... I think the research centre produces a dribble of radiation that doesnt even reach the edge of the lot so it should be fine.
