running Sim City 4 is causing ENTIRE computer to freeze

Are you merely venting, or are you looking for help?  You haven't given us anything to go on.  But obviously the problem has nothing to do with Simcity 4, so based on the assumption you're still using the same computer you did before, what changes have you made to your system?

Yep, we'll need some more information before anybody can help.

I assume your game is fully patched?

Have you tried running the game with an empty plugins folder?

Help us out by listing more details and we can begin to get a handle on the problem.

Like Ihrob said, we simply do not understand if you're asking for help or what.

Now, what are your system specs? Did you apply any changes over the last few months? Does hardware mode lag SC4 for you? Have you ran SC4 without any modds in your Plugins folder? Those are all the questions I can ask you~. Not sure if they will help though.

First thing to try is to empty your plugin folder (just copy it to your desktop) and try playing the game vanilla.

The most likely cause of a crash is a plugin conflict.

If your plugins folder is quite large, it might be easier to rename it, which will save the need to transfer / copy the contents. When the game next loads, a new empty plugins folder will be created and loaded. After testing the game, if no crashes occur, delete the new empty plugins folder and rename the original back to "Plugins".

You can then use the to determine what file(s) are causing the problem. This involves some trial and error, by splitting and testing different combinations of plugins. Once you've found the culprit, it can be safely removed. But remember, this method is only necessary if the game doesn't crash with an empty plugins folder. Otherwise, I suggest you provide us with a bit more information, such as:

  1. Does the game load at all, or does it simply freeze on load?
  2. Is your game updated to a minimum of (1.1.638.0)?
  3. Have you made any recent changes to your system hardware or software? (e.g. drivers)
  4. Do you run the game using a custom shortcut?
  5. Is your game SimCity 4 Rush Hour / Deluxe, or the standard "vanilla" edition?
