All cities are NOT not connected in Region?

Yeah, its totally stupid, ain't it? Worse yet, you can never benefit from more than one Great Work because you'll never be connected to more than one. Most regions have 4 cities interconnected, but some regions have more. Look at the region minimap for road and rail connections before choosing to start in a specific region.

  • I wish I did look that over. My friend started the region. However I noticed one city has a highway connected to my 4 cities and a railway connected to another set. I am going to see if there is a way to kind of "merge" the connection. I am also wondering if trade ports with ships will help. The same water is connecting majority of the cities.

I may be incorrect but I think if you don't have a road connection between cities you can't really trade. Correct me if I am wrong, but I've found this out to be true (granted it was several patches ago).

  • well none of the patches mentioned anything about it. I think i remember reading somewhere that you should be able to trade goods in the trade depot with others in your region but that has been removed for right now. Maybe that will then allow it?

I do hope that they slowly enable more multiplayer. At the moment the only advantages to be in the same region are sharing departments and research, which is funny because it effectively makes building town halls and university schools pointless in 16 player regions.

  • yeah I agree, they have a lot of work to do in my opinion.

I have a city right now running on its own with 55k residents bringing in a monthly income of $875,000 with 18 million in cash. This is not in sandbox mode either.

I noticed this just a few minutes ago myself; I'm having a bit of a resource dilemma and thought, "Hey, I'll just buy from the other cities across the way!" Negative. If there's not a road connecting them then you can't buy anything from them. That would seem to defy the idea put in place of a "global economy." I can put freight on a boat or a train and ship anywhere, I can fly tourists in from other parts of the planet (surely no one would fly from one zone to another) but I can't buy water from a town within the same region? That's silly.

Surely they'll implement some feature to connect "clusters" of towns to one another. Even if the Great Work only impacts the adjacent tiles... the rest should be open season (at a cost of course.)

Also, If there is a city in between two 'connected' cities (think City A-B-C) City A+C are claimed and B is vacant, A cannot trade with C unless you activate B.

I only play private regions by myself but I found the above really annoying. Actually..everything about multiplayer is really annoying right now lol

Anyone know if you can at least send simoleans to the other parts of the region? Since if you have the upgrade for the simcoopter on both places, and the mayor is the one that delievers the money.....

Simoleons can be traded via waterways, railways or roads. I was able to transfer simoleons from one city to another in the other end of a big region by hopping from one connected city to another, alternating with sea / road / rail whenever necessary for a total of 4 hops.

Does it have to be a trade boat? or does the fairy count? I have a fairy and so does the other city on the otherside of my region and I can not send simoleons to him. I have 28 million... he has 30k lol I wanted to help him out.

I'm not sure if this is true, but I would bet it is.

Of course, many/some cities in a region are going to be connected.

But it would make perfect sense to make some of those connections incomplete: it adds to the difficutly/strategy of playing a region.

    Does it not?

  • Fairy?

    I'm guessing you mean ferry?

Hahaha I didn't even realize I did that.

Does it add to the difficulty? Of course. Is it realistic? Hell no!

I didn't know only 4 cities could connect in real life.
