Density of high density buildings

Hello.

I am wondering if there are degrees of high density. Most of my city now is high wealth and high density. When I look at the "density meter" of individual buildings, the meter is just at the beginning of high density.

Does this mean it can get even denser high density?

That would make sense, as medium density seems to have similar "levels". Medium seems to include things from the small 2-3 story walkups, to small-scale towers (6 or so stories tall). I haven't had a high enough density city yet to give you a confirmed answer though - like you, I've only achieved buildings that are juuuust barely high density.

The way the game works is the cheaper the building the more dense it is. 5000 low health people are crammed into a high density tenement while 500 people inhabit a high wealth high density condos. I do know, however, what you're talking about where when you finally become a high density building you start on the left side of the scale, but that is mostly to gauge whether or not you should be quickly demoted back down to a medium density building rather than upgrading you to a more dense high density building. As far as I have noticed it doesn't matter where you lie within the tier, there are only three tiers.

This makes more sense than my theory, actually. That would make it work the same as the wealth bar, which is on the same screen.

Yeah I've had two totally identically laid out cities, one with low wealth high density and one with high wealth high density (and a small patch of low/medium wealth so certain low jobs would be filled). The 100% low wealth city had a population around 380k and the 90% high wealth city had a population around 100k. If you want to keep pushing your population higher and higher just demolish the high density buildings that don't have a lot of inhabitants.
