Death and taxes

I have a small question. How does the simulator calculate income? What is it based on? Amount of people? Amount of jobs?

Because Ive noticed that my income sometimes fluctuates. One moment its fine and the next month its suddenly 200 less. Even though the city has only grown in the meantime.

Im sorry if it has been asked before.

It's pretty much a real life thing. Everyday people move in and out of town, become eligible for or exempt from paying taxes, and you have to include the deceased, who obviously won't pay anymore taxes. Simple reality thing. That's all. No need to worry too much. As of how the sim calculates income, I think it involves an algorithm related to wealth levels, number of citizens and all that what-nots.

iirc lots have a property called building value, which is how much you get reimbursed if the building is destroyed in a natural disaster but I think it's also the base number used for taxes.

Also, I remember hearing somewhere that the taxes collected in SC4 are not income taxes, but property taxes. They are based on the value of the building; I have a feeling though, that the simulator has other variables that adjust the building's value from month to month.

Hmm, if land value changes and affects the value of the building that might explain sudden drops or rises in tax income. Thanks!
