Hi, can someone rec me some tree mods? I have the cycledogg tree mod and some of gdv's beach theme trees. I saw a seasonal tree prop pack, does that add changeable trees to the game? Any ones with fruit trees or flowers? Would be great to plant fruit trees in the bungalows and mansions. Thanks. :D

Also any tips on building on hills/small islands? How to avoid the ugly angles/cliffs from showing. Do the building zone need to always be right next to a road?

I can't answer all, but I'll answer some that I could.

I think it's not good to suggest any other tree mod since you already have one and having multiple tree mods might cause incompatability between those mods.

Also any tips on building on hills/small islands?

Read this article : http://www.simtropolis.com/omnibus/_/simcity-4/tutorials/working-with-hills-r103

How to avoid the ugly angles/cliffs from showing.

You can smooth the land use the god-mode tools and also use a slope mod is highly recommended.

Do the building zone need to always be right next to a road?

The answer is yes and no. You can zone the RCI to be far away from the road, but guaranteed, you will get no connection zots around the area.

So, the conclusion is, you can zone it far away, but you can't have any building grow around that area since no road exist nearby.

I also recommend you to read the omnibus, there are several useful tutorial.

  • Thank you, those links were very helpful. Just to clarify, a tree controller determines how closely and where the trees spawn when you click drag? Is it possible to use tree controllers with other mmp? I downloaded some mmp but when i click drag the trees get all bunched up.

God-mode tree mods which is controlled by tree controller is different with mayor-mode MMPs.

The tree controller only dictate about the location where plant A and plant B grow. And it will not affect the MMPs.

Whether you have a god-mode tree mod or not, the mayor-mode MMPs will not affected and certainly, you will be able to plop MMP trees everywhere since the tree controller only dictate all god-mode trees, not mayor-mode trees.

So, the answer to the first question is no, tree controller only dictate the location where god-mode trees should grow, while the answer to the second question is yes, it is possible to use tree controller with MMPs together.

I also recommend you to read this article about MMPs, there is a tutorial about how to play with MMPs and create things from MMPs.
