Is there a way to stop the default mansion from being constructed in low wealth areas?

Cause its kinda annoying looking over your cities and seeing mansion abandoned because they were constructed in low desirability areas.

A lot depends on how your zones are laid out. Low-density blocks of 3x3 or 4x4 tiles have a habit of growing into mansions at the least provocation. If you want low-wealth single-family housing, try zoning only 1 or 2 tiles deep. It also helps to constrain development by mixing single tiles of low and medium density--

As a less invasive version than a radical blocker, I'd suggest bones1's Less Abandonment Mod (or whatever it was called). It increases the minimum desirability requirements for high-wealth buildings.

The best avoidance for mansions is do not click and hold to zone low density R. It takes longer, but you get better results if you make the lots 2 x 1 instead of 1 x 2.

The game won't initially build 1 x 1 lots (a bug, if you ask me), but has no problem with 2 x 1. The other advantage of 2 x 1 lots is that they can create blocks of 2 x <whatever> with no danger of creating mansions, However, it does mean that your streets take up a lot of real estate.

Think about it. a 1 x 2 lot is 16m x 32m or roughly 51' x 106', which is a stunningly large lot, these days, for a low wealth area. It is much more likely to attract medium wealth or even high wealth if lots can be joined.

The game happily builds the same houses on 2 x 1 as on 1 x 2, but with no back to back lots giving a depth of 4, no mansions.
