Generic automata-related question.

Yes. But I'm not sure if I'm clear on what you mean by your question, so I'll answer it both ways:

1.) If you don't want them to appear at all, go into the Graphics Options and set # Cars/Sims to low. That way they will hardly appear at all. If you want them to show up more frequently, set it to high.

However...

2.) If you want them to stop disappearing, you need to install a modd called Persistent Automata, which can be found here:

I'm actually wondering is there a way to make more traffic appear? I have Cars/Sims set to High and I have Persistent Automata and even if a regular road has 7000 traffic on it I barely ever see cars. Does the amount of traffic even affect the automata because I have seen lots of roads with zero traffic and a decent amount of automata.

1. There are three files in the persistent automata mod: low, medium, and high--make sure you have high installed.

2. Remember that automata follow the in-game clock. The roads will be mostly empty except twice a day at rush hour, when you see their true congestion.

I wonder if you get more traffic by not using mass transit as well...? No buses, no monorail, no subway, no HSR...would that force more cars onto the roads?

  • That depends... IRL Many people still drive cars even though there are public transport.

The second one. And thank you. =)

I was wondering the same issues as well, but i decided to ask directly to the NAM thread...you'll find more explanation there...

Note: just click the link and scroll down until you find the right discussion, i've already asked a quite similar question there few weeks ago...
