City Journals limited to SC4 and CXL only?

Just asking: Are City Journals (CJs) limited to SimCity 4 and Cities XL cities only? I've been thinking of actually publishing a SimCity 3000 CJ. (Yeah, yeah, laugh at the guy with the nuke-Humvee...) I'm serious.

If it's restricted to SC4 and CXL, I can understand.

I've been running a weekly Ben's Top Ten in both the forum CJs (SC4) and the site CJ section for a couple of years. Running the stats each week means that I look at every single CJ update, and I can tell you that CJs comprise all sorts of things. Some have hardly any, or no, SimCity4 or CXL in them at all, and have been successful.

Is it a city? Is it a sim? Yes and yes? Then show it off in one of the CJ areas. I played plenty of SC3000 in my time, I'd love to see what you've done.

During the years I've spent on ST, I've seen CJs not only based in SC4 or CXL, but also Minecraft, Civilization and Age of Empires, among others. As Ben has said, if it's about virtual cities, regions or civilizations (showing a bunch of real life city pics just for the sake of showing them is not allowed), it is OK and interesting for us.

Which I take as yes, then?

I'm still afraid. SC3K is noted for building repetition.

The answer to your original question is actually: No, CJ forum/section are not limited to SC4/CXL.

I think any of us who played SC3K know that it was repetitive - nothing to be afraid of.

I'd enjoy it, a little nostalgia never hurts. Personally SC3000 was the game that got me into City Simulation games after I bought it at school book fair in fifth grade so it will all be special. :P

No one ever said CJ's have to be made in a certain game. You could make one in Tropico if you wanted (I think someone had actually done this).

Fear not. Go for it.

Would games such as Anno 1404 be included in? (Especially crossed in later designs with Simcity 4)?

The CJ section of the site does not impose any restrictions on what games may be used. Any game, any type of journal is welcomed. As Nonny said it would enrich the CJ section. Have fun.

This lot uses the maximum number of props allowed on a lot. The props are listed as: LotConfigPropertyLotObjectData, starting with 0x88EDC900 and ending with 0x88EDCDFF for a total of 1,280 props.  Source: SC4 Devotion Forum
The included road and parking overlay textures are the same as in my recently updated Quantum Dish download which has another version of the 3x3 Roundabout. If both are used then delete one or the other file named 'OverlayTexturesCivics_Network.dat'. The overlays may be used freely as long as a message to delete multiples of the same .dat file is included.
EDIT NOTE:  All the network connections are for 'streets' (in gray) so you have to drag a street from the lot edge.   If you surround the lot with 'roads' (in black) they won't automatically connect and you can't drag roads out from the edge.
The Llama Reserve and Nature Park
An 11x13 lot with Maxis animal animations of llamas, cows, horses, giraffes, bucks and pigeons (which rarely appear, if at all). High park effect in local area. Minimal pollution. Network and transit enabled. Uses 200 mwh of power.
      The Llama Statue Roundabout
A 3x3 lot with a llama statue built from the Maxis rock props. This lot uses my road overlay textures to create a roundabout connected on each side to the network. High landmark effect. Minimal pollution.
The domestic llama statue was modelled from a picture by Kim Foster and is included under the Creative Commons Attribution 2 Generic License. Source: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Domestic_llama_(2009-05-19).jpg
      Install:
To install delete Previews and text files, place the 'Llama Reserve Nature Park V1' folder in your 'user documents/ SimCity 4/ plugins' folder.

You always wanted to have this gem without any DRM and working on all Windows OS, here's your chance!
      Have fun and kind regards!

Cori Edit: I changed the linky so it includes Simtropolis's vendor code thinger. If peeps use it that way and purchase the game, ST gets a tiny fraction of the sale.

I was trying to install cam 2.1.X today and it gave me instructions to click on the simcity_1 folder and click start in the data packer window. But there was one problem...
THERE WAS NO DATA PACKER WINDOW
Does anyone have an answer or a fix to my problem? I tried installing LEX Datapacker and it gave me an error and I have no clue what to do.
