No Power Extra Cheat

HI

I am looking to implement the extra cheat dll file, as I would like to incorporate the no power cheat. A few questions to any one who may of used this:

1) If I use this, does it mean I can run my citites without the need for power stations therefore reducing pollution

2) Will my buildings show the no power symbol

3) will my buildings not flourish as well with this cheat on

I've never done this except to test it. If you want low pollution and power try this lot:

That lots uses water for fuel, and also any ambient pollution. If you use it you will need:

I made these lots several years ago to overcome that exact problem.

I have a question: Can you build the current Extra Cheats DLLs, ie do you have the "specs" (what an Extra Cheats DLL is), the needed APIs and documentation (eg the functions available or the object model), some source samples (or better yet the whole source of the current version), etc etc?

Otherwise you can search the Developer or Simulator exemplars (about the power requirements), however the power requirement may very well be hard-coded in the game.

An alternative (if you want the no power feature for your gameplay only) would be... just use gameplay techniques, like the cheaty power plants Moose mentined, or simply build power plants in satellite city tiles and import the power. Due to the game's settings, the buying city will actually be paying less to import the power (compared to running the PPs on itself), as PPs may only be operated at 75-80% of their capacity (otherwise they wear fast), will be getting no pollution, and PPs won't be wearing at all (as long as you don't "run" the dirty city). Quite cheaty, isn't it?

Just try it, and see how it works for you. I can't see how it would have any effect on whether your buildings flourish, because the game is tricked into thinking they have power when you use that cheat code, isn't it?

I use the extra cheats dll, and it works pretty well. I hope these answer your questions.

1)You do not need any power plants in your city.

2)Your buildings do not show the no power zot, they will act as if they were powered.

3)Zones will grow as normal.

In response to A Nonny Moose's earlier post:

You do not have to re-enter your cheat every time you enter the city, like how you don't have re-plop your power plant. All these statements are true for the howdryiam cheat as well.

Actually, I think you're referring to me. And I humbly stand corrected. It's been my experience that I've had to re-enter cheat codes when I load a city. But then again, I don't use many of them, so I'm not certain it applies to them all. Thanks for the clarification.

There's only one down-side to fightthepower: if you don't have any power plants in your city, nightlighting and other night effects don't show. They only show when powered. Often, a small plant will do the trick to show these effects ...
