:: WELCOME! ::

First and foremost, I would like to welcome you to my newest CJ, The Calistan Protectorate, a protectorate annex of the Illium Empire. The brutal war between the Calistan Federation and the ended with the nuclear destruction of the Calistan city of Las Colinas and subsequent defeat of the Federation, which was formed into the newly formed Calistan Protectorate. Below, you will see some demographic data on this new country.

:: ABOUT THE NATION ::

Here is the Calistan Protectorate's new flag. As it is a protectorate of the Illium Empire, the Illium Nation Seal can be seen on the left side.

The Red background stands for the blood shed of the forefathers of this nation and the strength that the bloodshed has brought to the nation. The Black slash signifies the fortitude and strength of the Calistan Protectorate, that stands clear and strong against the bloodred background. The eagle signifies the strength and sovereignty of the Calistan Protectorate. The Eagle is the national symbol of the Calistan Protectorate. The Olive Branch was only just recently, signifying the peace that stands between The Illium Empire and the Calistan Protectorate, but remains red to remember the significant losses incurred in the the war.

calistan_flag_113.jpg

As you can see, Calistan is located just across the Gulf of Calistan, due North of the Illium Empire.

calistan_world_map_location_108.jpg

And here we have a closer view of the nation, which is divided into 6 provinces. The Dakara-Calistan DMZ has been in effect for almost 50 years now, as the nation has been in a border dispute with the Republic of Dakara for as long as anyone can remember. It is hoped that with the new rule of the Illium Empire, that the dispute will be settled, and a permanent border placed. Each Province Capitol is listed as well. A new Province Capitol for the Antinorde Province will need to be selected, as Las Colinas is no longer habitable.

calistan_cities_205.jpg

And here is the Lost City of Las Colinas, which fell during the war.

lc_overview_309.jpg

That's it for the introduction. I assure you all that this CJ will meet/exceed the quality of the Illium CJ. I will keep both going as concurrent projects. As always, comments, criticism and +1's are always welcome!

Til next time! -daTS

    :: REPLIES ::

    Sim_Link: Thanks! I personally love the outcome with the flag. Probably one of my better works.

    TekkindusT: Thanks! I spend lots of time on my flag designs.

    Vivapanda: Well, it is it's own country. I figure it deserves it's own Journal.

    Shulmanater: Thank you! I look forward to your visits!

    :: UPDATE ::

    Well, here's the first update for the Calistan CJ. This update will feature the Athosia Nuclear Generating Station and the surrounding area. The Athosia Power Station is located in the rural far southeast corner of the Capitol Province

    Our first look will be at the town of Ruegenhoek, which is the largest town in the area. Nearly 30% of the town's working population works at the generating station, making it by far the largest employer in the area. Ruegenhoek enjoy sporting the small town charm that comes with being a farm town with a population under 5000. Most of the homes here are single-family homes, although there are two apartment complexes. Ruegenhoek is home to the Athosia Parish High School, which serves the entire parish.

    ruegenhoek.jpg

    And now we'll move on to viewing the Generating Station. It is a massive complex, employing almost 3500 people in the core complex alone.

    stationlook.jpg

    Here we have the Northern Reservoir that serves the complex.

    northernreservoir.jpg

    Moving on, we find ourselves looking at the cargo receiving station (commonly called the "Railhead" by locals) that serves the station and surrounding commerce & industry. You can also see the passenger station that serves as an employee stop for far away towns/cities.

    railhead.jpg

    Just across the road from the station sits several eateries and commercial stores. While most of the business comes during shift & lunch/dinner breaks, these eateries are known for being open 24 hours a day. Although it's a bit of a drive, at nighttime you'll find people from Ruegenhoek visiting for a late night snack. You can also see the more-than-adequate parking for the locals who drive.

    We'll finish off this update with an overview of the area.

    I hope you enjoyed today's tour! As always, comments, criticism, and +1's are always welcome!

    Until next time! -daTS

    We don't see power stations often, it looks awesome though.

    The nice green surroundings completed the picture!

    Excellent! I like the surrounding countryside, and have you changed your world map? The Empire doesn't look the same as it used to back then! Succor to the Cailstan Protectorate, :D

    Citizens in the Capitol Province started getting flyers like this on their doorstep. Something dark is coming. A package, labeled with this flyer, was found on the front doorstep of the Illium Embassy in Calistan City. Is that... beeping you hear?

    This song sets the mood for it:

    I was just looking through here yesterday... nice to see an update.

    Though this looks like it could get ugly... are those biohazard symbols on the poster?

    Oh dear... this doesn't look like it will end well.

    Ah well, I guess it was to be expected that there would be some resistance against the empire that nuked one of their cities.

    I love your CJ's, they are one of my favorites :D

    Well, I *WAS* going to have a full update by this weekend, but we had an issue at the plant and I ended up working 14 hour days every day this week. (I work as a Quality Control Engineer at Peterbilt Denton, and we just had a new line of truck come out, and it's riddled with problems)...

    So, I'll just post a little teaser until (hopefully) this weekend I can get a decent update in. I'm working on the capitol city, but it's coming along slowly.

    :: REPLIES ::

    wcraig: I know, work has me swamped! The Embassy building will of course survive, but a statement has been made.

    Sim_Link: Thanks! I hope to get more active... hope. And yes, those are biohazards symbols, but that's more of a scare tactic.

    vivapanda: Yes, I'm back. I tend to lurk at the moment.

    LexusInfernus: Naturally, but violent resistance is a bit more. And thank you!

    Great return of your CJ. I have always admired the strong 'branding' of the Calistan Protectorate image, and you've shown it yet again in the addition of signage to the embassy.

    Edit: Congratulations, you are number one on this week's BTT!
