Aahh! Finally! Awesome update Andrew, you're the king of transport (and Matt has done a trmendous job as well!) I like those pics of Thistlehurst, especially the residential highrise building in the Seven Sisters area (on the left side of the picture) What is it?
I'm glad to see Norwich moved up one place on the ranking: it's now comparable to Madrid and Berlin in size!
Too bad btw that my beloved Parkstone Rangers are on the bottom of the league table!!! I hope they win their first points against Bradwell!!

Hey Norwich is looking better then ever! However I would suggest that you should probably finish up  the ring road before you start the subway system. I vote for Norwich Tube because I think it's really cool and Norwich is getting to be a really big city, and tube seems to be well suited for a big city.  Keep up the good work! I can't wait to see more updates!!!!

what do you want from me now? I've run out of comments3.gif

so how does the queen feel about having a highway in her backyard?

This is a truly inspiring journal.... if you get to the top 20 population wise, then it'll be more then impressing...

Might I say that the water colour changing from Oakhill to the not-yet-built city towards the left is ugly... just go into it and save it to fix the water colour... please!!18.gif

    Umm... yeah 35.gif35.gif35.gif

    SPORTSCENE

Good afternoon everyone. I'm here to round up this afternoon's football fixtures in the Simtropolis Football League Norwich District. Clarendon Athletic maintained their unbeaten record with a tense goalless draw at Barton Hatch Rovers. Meanwhile, the top two both lost their 100% records - Stokesbury United picking up a valuable point at East Statham while Norwich City will be slightly disappointed to only gain a 1-1 draw at home against Maidenwell. Salham moved into fourth with a solid 2-0 home win over Pentney. Possibly the best performance of the day saw Norwich United, much improved on last season, come away from Swanton with a 3-1 win.
    Classified results and league table.....

Yes, in tomorrow's feature match we run the rule over bottom-of-the-table Parkstone Rangers and find out if they might have what it takes to be successful in this league.

Hey Andrew George! I've been gone a while you're right. I've been starving myself of sim city waiting for rush hour to come out for mac (it's ALMOST out!!!) and also my other internet server always screws up when I try to post on simtropolis. Luckly I have 2 different servers but this one is slower. I've been keeping up with your journal though, I just haven't been posting. Those last few updates have been awesome too! Keep it up!

Ooops,  I'm late again, as usual...

Norwich Underground is quite natural, it's just the way people would call it in everyday conversations. For an official name, however, I would go for NorMet - a modern, short and advertisable name for a public trasport network in a modern city. So I vote for NorMet.

Norwich keeps growing well, nice to check back now and then to see what's new. Interesting use there of that NAM avenue Y interchange...

Your list is not up to date Andrew, I just looked at it and I saw that Madrid is now bigger then Montreal.
    Madrid     3 290 900
    Montreal  3 256 300
You see, so Norwich is still smaller then those city's.
    Norwich fits between these:
    Ibadan   3 201 500
    Harbin   3 129 300
    Good luck updating the list!!

Thanks for the votes and the great comments!

    So, we now have:

    a) Norwich Metro (5)
    b) Norwich Subway
    c) Norwich Subrail
    d) Norwich Subterrail (1)
    e) Norwich Tube (1)
    f) Norwich Underground (4)
    g) N.U.N. (Norwich Underground Network)
    h) NorMet (1)

London Wyverns - It doesn't surprise me that it is slightly out of date - this data was obtained probably 2 years or so ago, so I'm sure there would be many changes in that time. Oh well! 34.gif I will have to update my list but it's a very large job, as you probably suspected!!!!

    Thanks again to all!

    SOCCER SUNDAY

Good evening all and we report to you tonight on the match between Parkstone Rangers and Bradwell. It was a scrappy affair with no team ever really gaining the ascendancy over the other. The first incident of any note came after 15 minutes, when a mistake from Brookes in the Bradwell defence gifted the ball to Amundssen. After carrying the ball forward for twenty yards, he tried a low drive but scuffed his shot badly wide of the goal. With ten minutes of the first half remaining Bradwell produced some neat passing, only for Hasluck to see his stinging shot fly straight into the 'keepers arms.
    Half-time: Parkstone Rangers 0-0 Bradwell.

The second half started in similarly frustrating fashion, with both defences definitely having the upper hand over the forwards. Parkstone managed to win a flurry of corners on 65 minutes - the final one produced a stretching header from Davis which landed on the roof of the net. Minutes later Watson made a mazy run in the Parkstone half before being brought down by Davis. The Bradwell man picked himself up to take the free-kick, and sent a curling effort narrowly wide of the left-hand post. The match petered out with both teams failing to create any more real clear-cut chances.
    Full-time: Parkstone Rangers 0-0 Bradwell.

So after that wholly uneventful match the league table looks like this.....

    Oct3rdupdate.jpg

So we see that next week's fixtures all take place on Saturday, and the obvious pick of the bunch is the top two clashing - Stokesbury United v Norwich City. Join us next Saturday where we'll have a special match report to see who comes out on top.

    Thank you and goodnight.

Oil And Petroleum Leaders Tap Into Abundance Of Human Resources - Malaysian Giants Petronas Set Up New HQ In Central Norwich

Good evening everyone, a brief update to show you a new development in Central Norwich.

PETRONAS, short for Petroliam Nasional Bhd, is Malaysia's national petroleum corporation established on 17 August 1974. Wholly-owned by the Government, the corporation is vested with the entire oil and gas resources in Malaysia and is entrusted with the responsibility of developing and adding value to these resources.

Since its incorporation PETRONAS has grown to be an integrated international oil and gas company with business interests in 35 countries. As at end of March 2004, the PETRONAS Group comprised 93 wholly-owned subsidiaries, 19 partly-owned outfits and 55 associated companies.

The Group is engaged in a wide spectrum of petroleum activities, including upstream exploration and production of oil and gas to downstream oil refining; marketing and distribution of petroleum products; trading; gas processing and liquefaction; gas transmission pipeline network operations; marketing of liquefied natural gas; petrochemical manufacturing and marketing; shipping; automotive engineering; and property investment.

The company has bought an area of run-down industrial developments in Central Norwich, close to the junction of the A13 (east-west) and the A147 Inner Ring Road, which runs north and south across Chapelhurst Bridge.....

    PetronasRedevelopment1.jpg

Mayor George said: This is a very exciting day for everyone here in Norwich. To have a foreign government invest in our city like this is evidence that Norwich is very much the place to be, and further underlines our ambition to make this city the business capital of the world. He added This, among other projects such as Norwich Metro, will make Norwich the most unique and attractive city in the world.

The purchase of the land cost Petronas
