I made some expansions to a city that I don't update often because of CTD issues. I used the CTRL + S internal save mechanism for all of my cities. Just today, when I managed to at least get SOME work done on these cities for a new one to come in in about a week or two, I get a CTD (just great!) - and the exception report that came from it is below.

Exception time: 11/21/2011, at 11:34:34.

Exception code: 0xC0000005 (-1073741819) ACCESS_VIOLATION.

Current thread ID: 9040 (0x00002350).

Version information:

Application/module path: C:\Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe\Apps\SimCity 4.exe

Application/module version name: SimCity 4

Application/module version: 1.1.638.0

System version: Windows NT 6.1

System memory: 2048 Megabytes total, 936 Megabytes free.

Exception module: C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll.

Thanks in advance for any advice I get.

Looks like the usual bad pointer problem. I notice you don't have the night lights patch installed which you don't need unless you run at night with custom content.

What exactly was the last thing you did when you got your crash? If you use the in-game save then you should exit without saving.

I pressed "Save and Exit to Region".

Fine, but something causes a zero pointer fault. Just before you decided to save was anything going on, like building or had you just placed something?

If your trying to plop NAM related items, such as TRAM tracks or other puzzle pieces in the world, always save! While on your projects, people usually say to save many times to keep on progressing, just in case there was a CTD,you won`t have to start it over from scratch again!!!!! :thumb: :thumb:

Irrelevant.

pielover, what happens if you try to start a new region and open the cities there? Can you create a sandbox and put something in one of the cities and do a save? If not, you may have to reinstall.
