Map Creation Question

I am attempting to make a map of Richmond, Virginia. I have World Machine, Photoshop CS4, and the Cities XL Map Editor.

Viewing the toutorials I am starting to get the hang of World Machine but it is going very slowly. I want to make the map as realistic as possible but it is very hard to do that with world machine.

Does anyone know an easy way to use topographical data to create a map? Richmond is mostly flat with a river (the James) runnig through it. As of right now all I am able to do is estimate what it should look like but that is very inaccurate.

Any hints tips or ideas for creating a cities XL 2011 map would be great.

that tutorial sucks

even with google translate

and very small text in the video tutorial

Unfortunately, that is one of the only (if not the only) tutorials for CXL 2011 regarding map creation. Since the game is new, there are still gaps in content, tutorials, threads, etc. This will improve as the game gets older.

Point being, we have to be thankful for the tutorials we have now. Saying it sucks and giving up on it probably isn't going to get you anywhere. ;)
