game crashing

When I start the game it goes through the short video then freezes at the screen that says: 
Checking Game Version
connecting to master version 1.0 (build 363)

Then it kicks me back to the desktop.

Exact same issue here....pretty frustrating.

My PC is on a fresh install, all drivers up to date, not running any dodgy crap on the background.

Not the best piece of software they created, makes me think they where far form ready for launch.

Ye Firewall is off.

Running XP with a proper game rig. Play dozens of games without any issues.

Really annoys me they release a game where so many people have issues ot even install it lol.

Ah well...patience is a virtue. Submitted email with error reports and so on hope they get on it.

There seem to be a lot of bugs that give no user feedback both with the game and their website. Signing up is a hassle if for some reason the security code doesn't take because it doesn't like your browser (entire form clears forcing you to retype everything over again, rather than just presenting a new security code). After sending a support message it takes you back to the original form, blanked out again, leaving you to wonder if it had actually been sent (Though in all fairness they do have a small notification at the top of the screen thanking you for the message that fades away after a few seconds).

There needs to be better feedback from the game when something goes awry so that we can submit informative reports for the devs.

Sorry about the tangent... Just a little frustrated after all the crashing I had going on when trying to lay out 3 qualified worker plots.

Same problem here.

First while I was playing it gave a bluescreen. When I restarted the pc The game crashed like the same above. I thought it may be a RAM error and checked my RAM's and their temprature also. There was nothing wrong. Then I checked cpu,system and VGA card tempratures. Again there is nothing wrong. I will try uninstalling and reinstalling the game. I will report back what I get doing this.

Uninstalling and reinstalling gets rid of the problem. But when I reinstalled the game I had to create a new avatar. So I think you should take a backup of this folder. %SystemRoot%\Documents and Settings\%UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Monte Cristo\Cities XL\
