https://www.simtropolis.com/ links to a page claiming that: 305st305klalteam8xb.jpg

                                                             SYSTEM-DEFACERS//SU?KAST T?M

                                                CENG?Z-HAN,BAYRAKTAR,SAKATURKx,D4RKPEACE

                                                              TURKISH HACKERS WERE HERE

Luckily, I had a link to a CJ so I could get in. I'm assuming other people got past it? Sure is annoying though. Who'd want to hack Simtropolis? I reckon it's related to being in PC Gamer.

EDIT: Post clash. 2 minutes...

Depending on the nature of the exploit, it can take teams of dedicated security personnel weeks to patch holes in software and systems.  Dirk is just one man, with a busy schedule to boot, let's give him the benefit of the doubt that he's trying to keep things as secure as possible.  The 2005 Thanksgiving hack is the reason why Dirk disabled HTML coding on the site when we upgraded to ST 5.0.  He wants the site to be an secure as reasonably possible, but sometimes the solution doesn't come quickly.

Hmm...I belive turkish hackers were here 3.gif

@Glenni I was wondering the same thing...unless they can't access anything else.

@Mortone_dk I'd consider them to be fairly smart if they know how to do it a second time and get away with it.

@devonald It should...but it's not one of those things you can push a few buttons and fix the problem...it takes time to find the hole then more time fixing it...and then you need to wait to see if it is working or not...if not...then you start all over again. Dirk has RL priorities to deal with as well which further delays solving the problem.

Just be patient 2.gif

People like these guys are out to cause a little bit of mayhem, but probably really don't care about taking the thing down.  They just want to see people get mad like we usually do in these threads. 2.gif

Understandable.  I too hope that Dirk is able to find the fix for the problem, and that it won't eat up a lot of his precious time.

Lets hope that these hackers go away! How did that old page get hacked? The redirect to index/cfm is gone so they must have used that page to let people know that we've been hacked. Get Dirk and the others! This is an emergency!

it seems to be a general server info packet sploit, originating from the suikast team, as claimed. there forum is located at www.system-defacers.org,  it does not seem that they are trying to steal any passwords just  want to sploit the vuln and call them selves teh haxxors..

at least one of their members gets his sploits from http://www.milw0rm.com/    i know this buy snooping around on their boards... will let you know when they update about ST if it was even them... no sign of a claim yet...

Maybe it is just me, but i think it is very suspicious that BOTH sporeum and ST were affected by this. Seems to me like a PO'd member with some hacking skills...

Regardless, these morons obviously don't have much to do with their time if they are focusing on hacking simulation gaming sites.
