About This File

This is a SimCity 4 region I created using seed # 14937910 at the Planet Map Generator site. I created the largest zoom level 1 square map it allows which turns out to be a 1000x499 pixel rectangle. In GIMP I then resized it to 2049x2049 pixels. (Proportional distortion doesn't matter since it's a random map.) Then I adjusted the gamma level so the water and land were closer to the original color image. I added Gaussian Blur to smooth it out to make it much more slope mod friendly.  The included Config.bmp is 32x32 pixels to give an 8x8 large tile region. (64 large tiles total.)

The pictures above are:

  1. Lefebvre2 coloring
  2. Lefebvre2 coloring with contour lines every 10
  3. Traffic view from Region Census
  4. Satellite view from Region Census
  5. A collage of the topographical maps from the data view of each city tile (useful for overall transit network planning)
  6. Same map if it were half of a planet (cause it looks cool)
  7. Globe with contour lines too
  8. Satellite view in game of how mine looks atm (showing a small portion of the whole region)
  9. Traffic view in my game atm

To use: Put the three files in a folder called Mons Lacus under your Region folder of SimCity 4 in your Documents.  Then simply render in game with Shift+Control+Alt+r from the region screen like any other grayscale import.

Would you be able to help us catch up after a bit of a shortfall?

We had a small shortfall last month. Your donation today would help us catch up for this month.

Make a Donation, Get a Gift!

We need to continue to raise enough money each month to pay for expenses which includes hardware, bandwidth, software licenses, support licenses and other necessary 3rd party costs.

By way of a "Thank You" gift, we'd like to send you our STEX Collector's DVD. It's some of the best buildings, lots, maps and mods collected for you over the years. Check out the STEX Collections for more info.

Each donation helps keep Simtropolis online, open and free!
