About This File

Jenquai Alchemy, by Mattb325.

Another Maxis Hi-tech ( stalwart gets a 21st Century facelift.

Jenquai goes from that small half underground building which steps back from the lot (and is accessed via a sort of draw-bridge) to a shiny, new and much larger facility. Just like the previous building which had sunken areas and elevated walkways, this new IHT factory provides a lovely, leafy sunken courtyard for employees to take lunch as well as a raised walkway connecting the two buildings.

This version is a Hi-Tech growable anchor 6x6 lot (use the CTRL key when zoning to ensure the correct lot size) and will not interfere with any Maxis blockers or re-lots of the original Jenquai Alchemy.

This download contains TWO model files; one for dark nite users (and other night-time darkening mods, such as Gizmos night-mod) and one for the standard Maxis nite.
You must keep only one file - depending on which version you use. If you are unsure whether you have a night-darkening mod installed, then choose the Maxis night version. Regardless of which file you choose to keep, make sure you DO NOT delete the Lot or Desc files!

If you use the dark nite version, you will need a dark nite mod.

Sadly, if there appears to be any parking used in the content picture as either part of, or adjacent to the custom content in question, it has now come to the ridiculous scenario of having to write a blurb about parking textures given yet more comments received form only one or two users (comments which incidentally are only made on my lots - I note that other active Batters use Maxis parking lots all the time and receive no negative comments, such is the double-standard). Please note that I will use whatever parking textures I feel like on my lots. If you want something else, then use the lot editor.

This is totally off topic - but some people (like me) may find it interesting. The first universities (Bologna, Paris etc ...) founded in the middle ages were under control of the church and they did allow only certain sciences. 'Occultism' had a very different meaning from today - all science unwanted by religion was 'occultism'.

But students were curious and had many question beyond what church would allow to teach. And so were some professors. F.e. on Isaac Newton you may read sometimes that he was addicted on occult science and astrology - but those weren't separated from objective science like they are today as there was only religion deciding what is 'good science' and what is 'bad science'.

So professors and students who wanted to do some 'bad science' (according to church) founded secret circles. As they were on risk to be traced and killed - to become a member of those secret science circles you had to go through several rituals and had to be absolutely closemouthed - as doing forbidden natural science wasn't just a game but a major crime. From those scientifc circles arouse the secret societies you may know - the Rosicrucian, the Fremaison, The 'Illuminati'. Most known about them are myths arising from this situation - regarded as an evil by church it became popular to think they are Satanists or something like this and doing 'occult rites' and it may be today they believe themselves they are some kind of cultists - but they didn't start this way, they started as some kind of scientifc clubs and the rest was made up by catholic curch.

The Rosicrucians f.e. were a small academic circle where they tried to find out what is a product of chemistry and what not. They tried to create 'soul' by combining chemical elements and lifeforms, also they tried to create 'universial medicines' and to make gold from other, cheaper materials. Their results and observations they had to keep secret so they invented terms only members of the circle would undertand - 'the philosopher's stone' is a well known example, which stands for the process of turning lesser materials into higher materials. Also this helped to create the myth of secret knowledge of secret societies. But apart from being decoded in a metaphorical and quite poetic language it's not much secret. Or maybe it's secret but still not really exciting and mostly worthless in todays world and the (most probably) arabic word 'Al-chemy' (~ bringing liquids into form) turned into a subject for myths and fantasy novells in 19th century.

Thanks @Fantozzi - I had actually toyed with the idea of making it in the shape of one of the alchemists' signs which also frequently crossed into the astrological signs. This was too obvious (and plus Jenquai is a maxis reference to another type of computer game), so instead I simplified the shape which is reminiscent of the astrological 'Uranus' on plan; hence the building is in two parts with a connecting walkway and circular central tanks *:P
