About This File

Businessman Alexander Mitchell had Edward Townsend Mix design both this building (1876) and the neighboring Grain Exchange Building (1879). It is a striking example of the French Second Empire style, a style popular in the United States from about 1855 through the 1880s.

Is it just me, or are your BATs (a) getting exponentially better, and (b) getting exponentially more frequent!?!

There are not that many BATs that deserve the highest rating (in contrary to what the average STEX ranking shows us), but this one is definitely a 10 with distinction!
