By XephrenMadagascar is a huge island nation off the southeast coast of Africa. It's home to thousands of animal species, such as lemurs, found nowhere else, plus rainforests, beaches and reefs. Near the busy capital, Antananarivo, is Ambohimanga, a hillside complex of royal palaces and burial grounds, as well as the “Avenue of the Baobabs,” a dirt road lined by massive centuries-old trees.
This map is bloody huge, fill it all up if you're up for a challenge.
By XephrenThe Solomon Islands, a nation of hundreds of islands in the South Pacific, has many WWII-era sites. Guadalcanal, a province and one of the archipelago’s largest islands, honors fallen Allied soldiers at its U.S. War Memorial. Guadalcanal is also home to the nation’s capital, Honiara, whose bustling Central Market showcases the islands’ produce and traditional handicrafts.
The country has 600k people spread across 6 large islands and many smaller ones
By XephrenBougainville Island is the main island of the Autonomous Region of Bougainville of Papua New Guinea. This region is also known as Bougainville Province or the North Solomons. Its land area is 9,300 km² and has a population around 243,000
There was a multi-layered armed conflict fought from 1988 to 1998 between Papua New Guinea and the secessionist forces of the Bougainville Revolutionary Army (BRA), because the locals of the island didn't approve of mining operations operated by Rio Tinto from Australia
Here's a video i made for this map:
By XephrenPapua New Guinea, in the southwestern Pacific, encompasses the eastern half of New Guinea and its offshore islands. A country of immense cultural and biological diversity, it’s known for its beaches and coral reefs. Inland are active volcanoes, granite Mt. Wilhelm, dense rainforest and hiking routes like the Kokoda Trail. There are also traditional tribal villages, many with their own languages.
This is part of a 2 piece series of either halves of New Guinea
This map is at a scale of 1:10, and its still pretty big, infact, this is the biggest map i've made, and probably will make
Disclaimer: The eastern part of New Britain cant be seen (on my PC atleast) so no Rabaul However i will make up to this with a possible map of the Bismarck Archipelago
By LeningradBuffalo, New York. Based on USGS data.
I worked TWO HOURS on this map because my MICRODEM program wouldn't correctly indicate the water in this region. Cities are strategically placed to allow accurate placement of the cities of Buffalo, St. Catherines, and smaller neighboring cities such as Depew and Lancaster. Please give it a good rating.

On the road to Shambala
How does your light shine
In the halls of Shambala
-- from "Shambala" Daniel Joseph Moore as performed by Three Dog Night
Everyone has an "ideal" region - this is mine...
Shamabala is a massive region (23 x 38 large cities total size) that has a little bit of everything...
Breathtaking alpine scenic vistas...
Miles and miles of beautiful beach...
Plenty of develop-able plains with room for cities built in a variety of styles...
This is a "map-bash" built from three different drunkapple maps. All original credits for the 3 maps goes to drunkapple and his incomparable map making skills. The mainland is Drunkapple's Vancouver region, one of the islands is Kaho'olawe, the atoll seperated from the mainland is Wake Island. All have been stretched and skewed to fit my whims.
Unlike some very large regions, every city on this massive map can be opened and developed. Use of the 4gb patch is an absolute necessity to play the map effectively. For good measure, I used the 4gb patch on SC4 Mapper as well.
Use SC4 Mapper to create city from .SC4M file...

Shambhala (or Shambala) is a mythical kingdom in Tibetan Buddhism. It is said (in at least one version of Buddhism) that when the world declines into war and greed, and all is lost, the 25th Kalki king will emerge from Shambhala with a huge army to vanquish "Dark Forces" and usher in a worldwide Golden Age...
This is a 16x24 region with 16 big and 32 middle cities.
I built it from satellite images of the region Ilha de Sao Vicente in Brasil. It is quite accurate but i did the following modifications:
- a few more islands in the bay
- a crater on one ficticius island
- a bit higher mountains
- manually retouched all the rivers and coastlines to make them deeper and nicer to look at in the game
- a few modifications to build nicer ports
You cannot build subways on the island because, like in real life, they are just not high enough.
I like to play it very much with some poor housing mods like
- Favela 1.1 by Wallibuk
- Latino house by Wallibuk
- Maloskero - Brazilian Tenements and Medium Stores 1.0.0
- Polish Row Houses by RaNoV
- polish buildings from PGB
Please tell me if you find some similar lots/buildings/stuff that could fit into this region.
There is a README included in the zip file where i explain how to install the SC4M file with SC4TerraFormer

It is also very big in area, 25 x 25 large cities, 100 x 100 kilometers
Borneo, a giant, rugged island in Southeast Asia’s Malay Archipelago, is shared by the Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak, Indonesian Kalimantan and the tiny nation of Brunei. It’s known for its beaches and ancient, biodiverse rainforest, home to wildlife including orangutans and clouded leopards. By PaulSawyerA set of maps of cities from a parallel world I made quiet a long time ago for personal use.
I placed them in separate archives, so you can choose any one you like.
Each one is SC4M file (you'll need a SC4 Mapper), 48x48 km (12x12 tiles), 144 large cities.
By PaulSawyerA map of a fictional city of Taseth.

By XephrenFiji, a country in the South Pacific, is an archipelago of more than 300 islands. It's famed for rugged landscapes, palm-lined beaches and coral reefs with clear lagoons. Its major islands, Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, contain most of the population. Viti Levu is home to the capital, Suva, a port city with British colonial architecture.
This would make yet another great holiday destination and maybe a home for your sims.
By XephrenThe Andaman & Nicobar islands are a group of islands in the east of the Bay of Bengal, with a population of around 380.000, they would make a nice tropical getaway for your sims.
They are also home to the infamous North Sentinel Island, home to a tribe who rejects outside contact violently.
By Cyclone BoomParva Montes, et Flumina is a fantasy region of free-flowing rivers, islands and hills. It features wide expanses of gently undulating terrain, capped by levelled terraces adding variation throughout the landscape.
The contours of the terraces can be used as a template for development, with the idea to help with playability of each tile. Planted flora conforms to the levels, with oaks, pine trees, and shrubs at the upper arid heights. Cliff edges may also be apparent (as shown) if using a terrain or rock mod.
Scattered throughout are islands and smaller terrain features, including bays and peninsulas.
Available are 3 versions of different sizes:
12 x 12 (144 large tiles) 8 x 8 (64 large tiles) 4 x 4 (16 large tiles) Each is offered as an individual zip archive upon clicking Download.
The layout of tiles may be tailored to your liking by editing each map's included config.bmp file.
See this guide for more info (there's also 2 videos posted down below there in the comments section).
To change the region name, edit the included region.ini file using Notepad (or other text editor).
E.g. For the 12 x 12 map:
Name = Parva Montes, et Flumina (12x12)
In terms of installation, this map is just like any other map.
To render this grayscale map for either of the sizes, there are two options:
The previews are showcased using:
Terrain: Appalachian Terrain Mod by Lowkee33
Water: SHK Brigantine 2.0 ("Silt" variant) by shokthrpy
These are not dependencies, but may be used to replicate the map's appearance.
Maxis trees planted using the "flora blast" command, set to 400 x3:
flora blast 400 400 400 Open the command box (Ctrl+X), enter the command and press Enter.
Here's a summary of each image above (from left to right):
A Note on Custom Content
Upon rendering grayscale images, some terrain mods modify the game's standard import configuration. Should this happen, the results may vary from the previews shown above. In which case, a workaround is to move out any terrain mod from your Plugins, then render the map. Or alternatively another way is by using SC4 Mapper (as explained above), to complete the process without the default parameters being overridden.
This map was generated using CorinaMarie's custom coded version of Torben's Offline Planet Map Generator.
The program is currently in pre-beta stages, and is designed to flexibly and effortlessly allow the creation of realistic SC4 maps by adjusting various command-line parameters. It will be released to the community once in a suitable state of readiness. Stay tuned!
By chimeranThis is the United States in it's entirety along with Canada and some parts of South America. This is based off my beta version but this has been smoothed out to address most of the hills which made it unplayable. Please note that this is not an accurate representation in regards to elevations and major land/water features. The basic outline is the same for the continents and most of the water features should be in their proper geographic location but I'm no geography major.
The seafloor is not that deep and this is intentional so that you can easily add your own landmasses in the otherwise empty tiles. I have looked over most of the map and most of it has been smoothed but there still might be some areas of unplayability but this can be remedied either in-game or using SC4 Terrarformer.
All feedback is appreciated, read and taken into consideration.

1. Open SC4 Terraformer
2. Open a default SimCity 4 Region
3. Once loaded go to File and then Create Region
4. Name your Region to what you like
5. Locate the SC4M file (usa redux.SC4M)
6. Hit Enter and wait for the region to load
7. Modify the map to what you want it to be and then hit Save
8. Open SimCity 4 and load your region. The Map should look the way you saved it.
You will need to place the Tropical Climate Mod Folder in your plugins folder for SimCity 4
and NOT in the documents plugin folder or it won't work.

By Joey AuburnI admit that this region isn't the best it could be, I got sick in the middle of doing it. Some areas are of questionable quality but overall its decent (I guess).
1 very wonky United States complete with nice spots to recreate major cities such as New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, and of course, Tulsa.
Use SC4 Mapper or something similar to use this SC4M file.
By drunkappleG'Day Simtropians,
Today I wish to present a map of Auckland, largest city in New Zealand and also known as The City of Sails.
See this map up CLOSE and personal.
This is a real world map and is kind of large at 73.728km x 73.728km. It is terrain and scale accurate and is 16bits. It is in .SC4M format and requires Wouanagaines mapper to import it into one's game.
Terraformer will not work with this map as it is too large.
Links and instructions are in the readme.
I think that's all.
By Joey AuburnIF YOU HAVE DOWNLOADED THIS FILE I SUGGEST REDOWNLOADING IT
The map is meant to have a collection of major cities built upon it.
Inspired by various locations in the US such as Hawaii, California, Texas, and Oklahoma (best state).
By Skippydam73As requested by wildhalcyon, the beautiful map of Tacoma Washington brings the potential for an excellent map to build on. Warning though this map is huge, 2369X2817. I might make a smaller version if requested enough. I hope everyone enjoys as much as I plan too.
By Pogs789Hello everyone
this is a custom region with small lakes, rivers and a coast
there are 3 large cities and 4 small cities
hope you like it

The archipelago, part of the Melanesia subregion, includes the main island of Grande Terre, the Loyalty Islands, the Chesterfield Islands, the Belep archipelago, the Isle of Pines, and a few remote islets. The Chesterfield Islands are in the Coral Sea.
This is one of the best maps I've made so far, Enjoy, Lads
There are 2 folders, each with grayscale heightmaps, config.bmp and region.ini files ready to be placed in your User\ Documents\ SimCity 4\ Region folder. Render using CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+R, then navigating to the Alpine Sublime/BO folder and selecting the Alpine_Sublime_1025x897_MAXIS/GOBIAS.bmp file, OR, use SC4 Mapper to 'Create a Region' from a 'Grayscale Image'.
The MAXIS version is made with height levels for most terrain mods. If you are rendering using the SC4 rendering function the resulting region view will reflect the terrain mod you have installed. If you are using a Gobias terrain mod the height levels are different so a special file has been made for the Gobias mods. Featured in the previews is the Gobias Berner Oberland terrain mod designed for the Alpine biome specifically of Switzerland.
Both the SC4 Mapper program and the Gobias BO Terrain mod are located at SC4 Devotion on the LEX (Lot Exchange)

The World of SimCity 4
In SC4 sea level is about 225 meters from the sea floor. Each increment raises the terrain 50 meters, so at 5 increments sea-level is half under-surface and half above-ground. Add one more increment of 50 meters and you are on land at about 25 meters above sea level. Only by using the terra-former or a grayscale heightmap can you get the land down to touch the water and wade around in the wet sand.
The Gobias Terrain mods, BO and Sudden Valley, change the increments from 50 meters to 100 meters, doubling them, so 3 increments from sea floor in Gobias is 300 meters, or (300-225) 75 meters above sea-level.
The CPT Terrain mods, Columbus, are consistent with the Maxis vanilla terrain so no adjustment is needed to compensate for the higher elevation of ground level above sea-level.
The grayscale range from 0 to 255 covers about 1200 meters above sea floor (24 increments x 50). Subtract 5 increments below sea level (19 x 50) gives you about 900 meters of height above ground. The full depth of the SC4 block of space is (62 x 50) 3100 meters or about 3 kilometers high, about 1-third of the highest mountain on Earth.
SC4 was designed to represent building construction, not geological topography. The tallest building in the world is near 900 meters, and the tallest mountain is about 10 times as high. For persepctive, look up a mountain you know that is in the 1000 meter range to get an idea of how SC4 renders topography.
If this is not confusing enough then consider the explanation I give for the scaling in SC4 3D Space in my SC4 Earth Maps Grayscale and SC4M Maps file.
The difference in scaling is between fitting SC4 into the real world and fitting the real world into SC4. Therein between, is the wonderful world of SimCity 4.
Special thanks to @CorinaMarie for continuing inspiration and study of the joy of SC4 Mapping.
Here, I will, hopefully, soon link this file page to another major mapping project.
By XephrenThe Mariana Islands (also the Marianas) are a crescent-shaped archipelago comprising the summits of fifteen mostly dormant volcanic mountains in the western North Pacific Ocean, between the 12th and 21st parallels north and along the 145th meridian east. They lie south-southeast of Japan, west-southwest of Hawaii, north of New Guinea and east of the Philippines, demarcating the Philippine Sea's eastern limit. They are found in the northern part of the western Oceanicsub-region of Micronesia, and are politically divided into two jurisdictions of the United States: the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands and, at the southern end of the chain, the territory of Guam.
This map is probably around half scale.
