I did what you explained but i receive this issue like one of the posters above mentioned - http://imgur.com/3PfzLZN

 

Are you sure you put the original locale in there ?

 

When strings are shown as *** it means they are not found.

 

As I said before:

 

Run my tool and choose your original locale, then before you try again do this;

 

In the folder were you ran my tool extract SimCityLocaleRURU_260901320.7z and copy that over your /SimCityData/Locale/ru-ru/Data.package file ..."

 

If RURU is your locale. The original locale should work no matter what, otherwise your SimCity installation is corrupt, my tool only fiddles with Data.package files, and if you replaced it with your original locale it should work as original, then you can try my tool again, maybe take a backup of your original locale first.

 

Ok i know it sounds like i am being daft but i will run through what i am doing so you can tell me if im doing it correctly because it is still not working for me. I have redownloaded a full copy of simcity and kept it as a backup so everytime i try to convert and make a mistake i can just copy back and start from scratch.

 

1. I run your tool, select English because thats what i want to convert my HU-HU copy into as i cannot read hungarian
2. I extract SimcityLocaleENUS_260901320.7z locale folder over the top the /simcitydata/locale folder.

When doing this i receive the screenshot i sent you above.

 

If i do the same thing as above but only extract the data.package file over the top of the SimCityData/Locale/hu-hu/Data.package then i receive everything as english but get this error: "You have not redeemed a Product Code for Simcity. Please Make sure you redeem the product code from origin"

 

 

What am i missing, am i doing something wrong that i cant see right in front of me?

Hello, first of all thanks  to w0lfalot for making this tool

But for some reason ( probably because Im stupid xD ) I cant manage it to work. I mean the program is fine I select English ( My game is RU ) but after that, my game is still on RU :/
I dunno if Im skipping a step or something.
Looking forward for some advise really xD

As you explained it, you extracted a ENUS and not a HUHU .. You cannot directly overwrite one locale over another, you have to replace the inside strings and keep the header, that's what my tool is for, so the message is expected. Put your original (HUHU) locale over Data.package and try my tool again, but maybe save a Data.package.bak or _Data.package as a copy for easy reverting ...

Try running it as Administrator, and please check your registry entries (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Maxis\SimCity or for 64-bit HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Maxis\SimCity) and verify that the Install Dir is correct.

 

Otherwise the tool runs to the end and says "All resources patched" ?

Nvm, I've reinstalled my Simcity, run your program, picked English, and after the quick download it works

Ok so now i can easily get it to english but I am still getting "redeem error". If i copy back to previous data.package then redeem error goes away but im back to Hungarian language again.

I think it's possible with time and effort.

 

I tried for a few days, much longer than it took to create the entire tool.

 

But I think some of the original JavaScript functions from the browser are overwritten with prototype functions from in-game unspecified format, or you have to overwrite them, write your own function, embed JQuery, there are many ways I think - but the solution is not quite obvious right now.

 

If the XMLHttpRequest method was overridden or rewrote I think it would work.

 

Thtat's literally why I waited to correct things in the tool and make a new version, because people get it to work fine on most of their machines.

 

However, I can include things to correct banner/welcome messages and possibly other artifacts in the menus.

ok, i have downloaded and extracted the languageenabler.exe, but when i run it it just shows picture of SimCity with the text UnPatched, and nothing happens. I have restarted Origin, but it is still the same.

Noticed the origin and most of the websites can't work (connect) while the program is running )
I have RU version and want it on EN. I just reinstalled SC, because the patch 3.0 messed up my installation somehow. But now the game is working in RU atleast :/

 

Anyway, how do i change the language with this exactly?

hmm, actually the file name was SimCity Language Enabler.exe, but you're right. It's not the file from the first post and now i can't remember where i downloaded this from exactly

But i know it's from around here somewhere and it was downloaded from ul.to, so when i saw that link in your first post (upl.io) in a hurry, i guessed it is the same link.

You did not extract in the SimCity folder did you?

 

You should not extract to the SimCity folder (or SimCityData)

 

It should be in a folder for itself, for example on the desktop .. It finds SimCity automatically ..

 

If your /SimCityData/Locale folder has two locales, delete one of them (the new locale)

For pic: Don't run the tool inside the SimCity folder. Go into the locale folder and delete all other locales than original (ru-ru) then this message will disappear.

Sorry for late but i had some issues with my laptop (i had to do a recovery and reinstall the game), and now i have another problem that the instalation of the game in origin stops at 25%, and i cant find a solution for that.

Anyone have a solution plz. Thanks anyway.

I use your tool version 0.1, the error message in the terminal is :

 I was working fine for me for mounts but after the last patch i keep getting an error when i try to patch simcity to English.

IMPORTANT: If you by any chance get the message "The product code you have redeemed for Sim City" see: http://upl.io/jmwua4 - It means your Data.package file is corrupted. There are steps in the first post and in the later posts on how to use my tool to download your original locale to put in your SimCityData/Locale folder - to start from scratch.

 

For any problem that you might have - the first resolution is to download the original locale with my tool and extract the 7z folder and copy Data.package to SimCityData/Locale (not just SimCity or it won't work) and replace it, before attempting my patcher again !!
