Dont listen to some people on here lol, so its not realistic, its a simulation, not like you have to create a real world, thats boring, i like imagination and your idea is great

Plenty of open space, with lot's of parks and other buildings like polise stations and bus stops

Skyscrapers and heavy rail under road (with station )

Taxis and El rail over road. Public transportation is vital, so you can go to your work without using your car

And why not? An avenue with tram

I hope that you like it. I didn't use any of your advise not because i don't like them but because i want to show you my ideas. Comments are welcomed
forgive me, i'm a bit new to this site, but where could i find avenues with those trams such as the ones you have?

 Use the 'money office mod'.
It will give you 65 000 every month. you can plop as many as you want.

Good idea, but I am a person who likes any kind of city. Anything from farms, and mountains, all the way to a city like New York. It all depends on your playing style. Mine is variety!

I like your idea. Usually I will put about 5 or 6 buildings together in a small cluster, then separate the cluster with parks and transportation. I'll see if I can get a picture later to show you.

I wouldn't put the same buildings over and over again.

I don't understand why people bash this idea? It looks fabulous!! And by the way... A large part of downtown Shanghai is built EXACTLY like this... Get's a little more clogged up all the time, unfortunately, but all the tall buildings are far spread, with parks and small buildings in between...

I think you have a great idea so many people focussed on what is surrounding buildings. I think it would be a workable idea
if most of the open areas were in natural state to minimize expense of parks upkeep and buildings should be as large as
possible. that will address some of the concerns about economical use of space. Just my thoughts Thanks for the idea.

I personally think it looks really cool; a refreshing change to urban jungles etc. etc. I don't think i could build a city like this, but I definately would love to see your idea in a massive region! Keep up the good work, and ignore the bashing. Your idea is different, and that freaks people out xD

This kind of design really reminds me of Las Vegas (just there for New Years). The massive casino/hotels are surrounded by beautiful shops, parks, and promenades.

Hey, I thought this thread had died, but it seems a lot of people are posting their skyscrapers here, so there is some new interest. Does anyon think that they need a 'Show us your Experimental Skycraper Districts!' thread?

I know of a kind or real world example of the concept of skyscrapers in the park, the Cuatro Torres Bussiness Area in Madrid, containing four of the tallest buildings in Spain, as well as those famous leaning twin towers (the name escapes me) surrounded by a large park and multi-use area.

Here's a pic:

And here is a photo of them from the park area.

lol, I build to destroy so it doesn't matter what it looks like. I like the architecture of skyscapprers, but when they the only thing standing there it looks odd. No more than a block of space between them is best. Its hard to grow taller buildings, and takes to long, so I just build industrial and farms then attack them with every disaster.

I actually like it. It gives a kind of a space colony feeling (something like SimMars), with planned plaza and park spaces...You can really use it in planned capitals or the centre of large cities

My experiment is back. This time we're talking about 12x12 building squares, that hold 4 6x6 lots. This can be very useful for C.B.D. (with grownable buildings) and not only, as you can see in this example :) . The tall buildings are SimMars low wealth apartment buildings. For the needs of the example, those buildings are plopable.

With so many mass transit, you just don't need any car  ;)

This layout is very modular. You can remove some parks to build civic buildings, large transportation infrastructures, plazas and landmarks.

Any cool idea is welcomed :golly:

But before complaining...

Yes, this is just an idea
Yes, you can make any variety you wish
No, not all buildings will be the same
No, not all buildings will have the same height
Yes, you can replace the above roads with anything you wish
Yes, you may need to use mods or cheats or money trees to build this
No, there are not many 6x6 lots, so get the Lot Editor and make your own
No, this layout will not look good with low and medium height buildings
Yes, this is my version of LeCorbusier's ideas
And yes, this is not realistic!

I have no idea why anyone is complaining, because I think it looks fabulous!

The only spin I would put on this is instead of having every park and building section be for say, 6x6, I would have the building area be 6x6 but I would make the park sections 4x6. The reason why I would do this is to prevent from having too much space between the buildings.

Great idea regardless and I will be trying it out soon!

A nice idea with the skycraper districts if you don't want a jungle of buildings is spreading the vertical clusters around the city, building it in the the most important convergence of avenues and massive transport and sorrounded by low density districts, parks or natural barriers. Just as my city does in the reality.

@Terring: Where did you get these blue tunnels in the last photos?

Edited by Alejandro24, 10 January 2012 - 08:58 PM.

I don't want a leader with promises, I don't want divided people, by its own people.
I want a waked up society, with concience of what the hell are happening really.
I want a policy based in reason, reality, intelligence; not easy solutions and fantasies.
I want a reform, a revolution of what we are
and where are we going as humanity.

Those are the ATEX Tubes. They're on a Japanese fansite somewhere. Google is your friend.
