  1. Entry 4: Welcome to Birdwater Point

Replies: @_Michael: Thanks! I'm always trying to improve my highway work through learning what others have done. I strive to implement interesting details in every aspect of my work. @kschmidt: I appreciate your thoughts on my work! I highly encourage you and all other people to comment what you liked or not, and what ways you can suggest some ideas. @korver: MMP is a taxing but worthwhile addition to my work. Sorry about not being able to get myself up after a nasty burnout of ideas and inspiration! @BLANKBLANK: Thanks! I will think about getting this featured if I can. @raynev1: I am honored that my last entry was considered to be the top ten in Simcitizen's Destinations! Hopefully this one will be interesting to see. @Takingyouthere: Yea, I now fully understand the aftereffects of a burnout when I try to play a little too much of SC4. Game has a way to revert yout work back by hours on end. @juliok92012: Thanks! I mostly implement MMP in my screenshots but a bit of the Tree Controller is used as well. I try not to get too crazy with my details! @kingofsimcity: Thank you! I am pretty happy with my flora collection as I am aiming for more of a Mediterranean climate brush. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Note: First and foremost, I am terribly sorry about my half-year absence in Simtropolis. College was a pain to work through while I was running low on ideas to work on a large city tile that was to be the site of this entry. In fact, many areas had to be overhauled to meet my standards. However, my desire for creating has returned and with a half of year to rejuvenate, finishing the city tile became a breeze once I took a good look on what needed to be done. The city has evolved constantly in some areas, up until it met the quality work I was looking for. I hope that my hard work and revision was worth the wait for those who are following my CJ. With tender love, Artimus -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The First of Many Stops: Birdwater Point Greetings fellow travelers! As we approach the city of Birdwater Point, we take the main exit to the downtown area on the right. We take a view of the bustling mini-metropolis in action. The foremost tallest tower is on the right is universally called "The Celestial Tower" as many residents often see the skyscraper reach into the heavens above. In this picture, you can clearly see the city hall and park along with Grant Hill that houses a auxiliary radio tower. As we pass through downtown, we are now heading to the waterfront property of the city. Here we can find some premium offices, sea-side stores selling exotic goods of the sea, a marina, and of course some more beach going goodness! Anyone thinking of an overnight stay? As with any sea-oriented city, there is always a seaport for industrial goods and materials to be imported and exported to other neighboring countries. From electronics to machinery to spare components to raw materials, this port has sizable economic impact on the city itself and surrounding regions. Container Ports are often an approximate measure of economic activity. A part of the port dedicated to raw material handling. An overview of the port: Well, here are some shots that show off some nice details and landmarks that are present in the city. Note that they are not listed in order. Please, take the time to look and feast on the details I put in each image! Consider it a banquet of my latest effort! Coast Guard Base. Industrial Offices and Parks. Some more beaches. The Celestial Tower at night. Edmonton Park. Hampshire Park. Grant Hill. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Some more notes: Working on this entry took me over four hours of compiling and developing. But still, I am in no rush to finish an entry when I feel that it lacks substantial quality to warrant its release. Sadly, I do not have a "direct" teaser for my next entry, but perhaps this next image will lead us to it! (I might mean it literally and/or metaphorically). Additionally, I encourage you to leave your comments and suggestions as they provide a source of valuable info on improvements and inspiration for future use. No comment goes unread by me! Where could that route lead us to next? That will be all for now folks! - Artimus
  2. Entry 3: The Oceanic Highway Belt - Longbeach

Replies: @korver: I appreciate your comment! I always strive to excel at my MMP work in this journal. @Ln X: Haha, I promise you that the beaches are only going to get better with each little experience I learn. @kschmidt: Thank you! Yes, I am thinking about implementing more ploppable buildings rather than the growable ones into my work. @_Michael: Thanks! This next one will surely elaborate on this theme! @raynev1: Always thankful for your comments! I guess this makes Mistral Isle the #1 place for sim beachgoes around Simtropolis perhaps? @kingofsimcity: Thanks! I am always fascinated with creating idyllic small towns and beaches, those are always themes I like to play around with when I start the game. @Takingyouthere: I agree, I like scaling things to realistic levels. Indeed, one of my focuses on this CJ is realism, both on scale and scene alike. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Continuing along the OHB: Longbeach Greetings to you all! For what it seemed to be a looooong while, I have stopped playing SC4 in order to take a break from a near burnout I was experiencing. But as time progressed, my interest in continuing my CJ had waxed and waned until I was invigorated with the reminder of the reason of starting it in the first place: to share my work with the rest of the community. Additionally, I had a life long goal of actually finishing a region in SC4 and so that only added my excitement in coming back to create again. Without further interruption, I present the next entry in this CJ. Further east from Blythe, we hit the outskirts of Longbeach, a small suburban community that sits along the beautiful beach line south. In actuality, however, Longbeach is part of the greater Birdwater city area, but for this entry we will explore its scenes and views. We hit a local interchange that leads to the original main street of Longbeach. Since then, the community has grown to encompass the surrounding areas in support of the neighboring districts. Main Street. Below Main Street is the beach houses along the shore in the dawn of morning. We keep going along eastward, often taking in the rows of houses and farmland, which has started to recede in favor for more suburban housing. Some more additional interchanges taken from dusk. This is the second interchange, a rather interesting diamond variant unique for this situation. At night... Third interchange along the OHB. Similar angle, but at night. (The Nightshift has begun.) There is always fun in the sun and water in Mistral. (I apologize for the jagged edges on the waterline, for I am not sure how to fix that.) Lastly, here is some more pictures for you to enjoy. Some Additional Info: The next entry after this will be bigger in scope and detail, but will consequently require more time to create, polish and finish. However, I am not very far off from finishing the neighboring city east of Longbeach, and the entry will probably be in during the end of the year, if not next year at January. For you to keep on your toes, I have three teaser shots for what might be hinting in the next entry. *wink* *wink* That will be all folks! - Artimus
  3. Greetings all! I've just returned from an indefinite hiatus from ST after almost a decade of inactivity, and all of a sudden felt the urge to lot. A lot! I've mostly been posting my lot updates in the "Show Us What You're Working On" thread but I figured I should probably lighten the spam over there and create my own thread . Since I've been posting so much stuff recently it's probably a good idea that I start consolidating all of them into one topic. PROJECTS Welcome to Suburban Office Mania! The core concept of these re-lots focuses on recreating the large sprawling business parks and office complexes that are scattered around suburban North America. Most of these complexes boasts several similar-looking buildings and can occupy several city blocks worth of space, mostly from parking alone. Major influences include several tech centers located around the US, including locations part of Silicon Valley, Irvine, and Denver Tech Center. ITS Office Parks Here I'll be mostly tackling a lot of Ill Tonkso's old mid-rise office buildings, and converting them for suburban usage either in the form of multi-building complexes or larger lots for the building. 4. Version 1.0.0

Well, it only took me three years. I created the first house model back in August of 2012. I was pretty good at avoiding making any progress on these for a while, but I finally got the urge to actually finish them over spring break a couple months back. Today, I present to you 8 house designs with 4 color variations each for a total of 32 unique houses. Additionally, I have modeled a small set of 9 detached garages to supplement the houses in a manner similar to what you might see in real life. However, for those of you who prefer the default Maxis garages, I am including a separate version that does not contain the ones I modeled. Also, for anyone who would like to use the garages (or the houses, of course) in your own lots, you hereby have my permission! These houses are all based on real world counterparts in the Morris Park neighborhood of South Minneapolis. To anyone who lives there: I apologize for spending hours on end looking at your house on Google Maps. It's only weird if you make it weird. The brilliant SimCoug has graciously lotted and modded a wide variety of lots of various sizes for this upload, which uses the following dependencies: JMyers Homes Vol 01 ('Props' and 'Textures' folders only)BSC Textures Pack CycleDog Vol 1BSC MEGA Props CP Vol01BSC MEGA Props CP Vol02BSC MEGA Props SG Vol01wmp_fence_props03.datwmp_garden_props02.dat KrashSpeed's Mailbox Set And, as always, the Darknite version requires this bad boy (http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/23089-simfox-day-and-nite-modd/) for the dankest of dank nightviews. Huge thanks to SimCoug for his magnificent work on these! For the curious, the number of lots broken down by size: 2x3 - 2 (growth stage 1) 3x2 - 2 (growth stage 1) 2x2 - 4 (growth stage 2) 1x3 - 5 (growth stage 3) 1x2 - 5 (growth stage 4) 2x1 - 2 (growth stage 4) 1x1 - 5 (growth stage 5) 25 lots total, all of which grow on the Houston Tile set and have the same stats as R$$ standard Houston homes. Special thanks to our Dirktator for his patience with me while I experienced issues uploading! I'd also like to give a shoutout to the community at large for your continued support. I've been on this site for over 10 years now (which seems absolutely insane) and I've seen a lot of faces come and go, but the community as a whole is just as helpful and welcoming as it always has been. Enjoy! Or don't, I suppose, as long as you give me feedback.
  5. Rhythm of Conformity

  6. San Joaquin Beach

This is a preview of my new CJ, it has a lot of sprawling to come, but here are a few shots... The Pacific Circle In the heart of Pacific Bay, a census designated area in south San Joaqin Beach, lies the Pacific Circle and plaza. The intersection and surrounding town was founded in 1918 and has become host to annual events such as "The International Food Festival" the first weekend in May, as well as the "Harvest Festival & Oktoberfest" in September. All six streets are blocked off for each event and local restaurants cook outdoors. Most of the businesses in and around the circle are restaurants; health food, gastropub, pizza, mexican food, and diners. At Christmas, lights are strung from building to palm tree and palm tree to building. Many of the buildings around the circle have been deemed local landmarks, and the old overgrown trees have plenty of hearts with initials scratched in their bark. Pacific Bay is a close-knit community, and the circle is the meeting point. Canary Palm Estates Upscale neighborhood in north Pacific Bay. Median home price: §1.5M San Joaquin Beach Civic Center & City Hall The center for city management and administration. Some events are held here like the annual Taste of Los Reyes, the 4th of July City Block Party & BBQ, and the April 20th Smokeout for Freedom and Date Shake Festival. Further down is Grizzly Bear Park, packed on the weekends with kids sports. Little Manila An area of Serrano with with highest population of Philippine-born residents in the US Old Spanish Station At Picante St. and Los Reyes Rd. Pacific Bay and San Joaquin Beach Lots of drunk drivers on the 101 freeway... The Circle from another angle For more like this, check out my last CJ California 2: Thanks

  8. R$$ Pack Santiaguino 2

    Version 1.0.0

Brief Introduction This pack contains five models based on real life houses found throughout Santiago, Chile. I've included a variety of different architectural styles corresponding to different decades. Basic Information - Lot sizes: 1x1, 1x2, 2x2, 1x3. - Stages: 1, 2, 3 and 4. - Tileset: all - Standard Maxis Nightlights. Dependencies More than one dependency this time. Please note that you have to be registered in order to download the files at the LEX (I guess most of you already are). BSC MEGA Props CP Vol01 -- really popular, most of you should already have this. BSC MEGA Props CP Vol 02 -- again, quite popular. LBT Mega Prop Pack vol.01 -- same as the last two. Also, you should already have this if you've downloaded my previous files. Romualdillo Props VOL01 -- this should be the only dependency that you probably don't have yet. I also suggest checking out Romualdillo's incredibly detailed and superb spanish houses here. You can follow my work here. Enjoy!
  9. I actually managed to finish the area off, which surprised me.
  10. Los Rico

Okay so, I've been playing skylines for about 900 hours and I've never really come online until now so, forgive me if I post in the wrong spot or something hahaha. Anyway, this is Los Rico... It has nothing to do with Plopable RICO because I started this city before RICO was even a published, just a crazy coincidence. I really like building cities that resemble and 'urban sprawl.' Something like Los Angeles, Dallas and other similar American, car based cities with wide freeways, lots of grid neighbourhoods and heavy traffic (but flowing of course). But here it is! Los Rico! From the album Urban Features (S3-02-E)

it the center of a suburb, hence the title.
  14. Jericho's 'Simicon Valley'

From the album Urban Features (S3-02-E)

A recent tech boom prompted this section of Jericho to develop into a large suburban office park. Its proximity to a regional shopping center and a major freeway meant that this area quickly grew into the definitive tech center for the area.
  15. Version 1.0.0

Welcome to the first of several houses, modeled after those of contemporary, suburban America. Thank you for taking a look at the Hamilton! This house model has undergone significant changes over many months, initially as a completely different model, which ultimately turned into a separate dwelling all together. Keep an eye out for the next one - a nice complement to this house, whose stats can be found below: A couple points of interest: R$$ medium wealth, low density lots. 13 unique lots. Lots beginning with "bipinhouse3_" are growth stages 1,2. Lots beginning with "bipinhouse4_" are growth stage 3. Part of the Chicago and New York styles/tilesets. NOTE: It has come to my attention that some houses are causing CTDs, most notably those of the "bipinhouse4_" lot set. I am currently working on a solution. Be careful with these lots for the time being! 17. ITS Office Parks - Folegate Leasings

    Version 1.0.0

KOSC presents: Folegate Leasings Introduction This is the 10th set of lots in my ITS Office Park series. Folegate Leasings is a set of ugly little fictional headquarters brought slightly back to life. Urghhhhh. Absolutely perfect for your generic, boring suburban business park. Package Overview Folegate Leasings comes with several different growable configurations and orientations. Like Holbourne House, this set comes with a centerpiece ploppable - a massive 11x9 monstrosity with 3 buildings. Similarly, all growable lots also boast parking lots with multiple entrances and were designed for expansion in mind. These were made to be combined with my SP Modular Parking Set. Included in the following package are a total of 10 lots: 8 CO$$ growables, 1 CO$$ growable and one CO$$ ploppable. These range from small, urban-friendly combinations to fairly large complexes. There are two different packages, the standard version and a LITE version. The LITE version is an adaptation that removes a lot of the perimeter CP seasonal trees and emphasizes open space and user preference. These were specifically made to cater to users that prefer their own choice of MMP trees and plants. If you do need to plop the growables, use the buildingPlop cheat and look for exemplars starting at KOSC ITS __buildingName__ (requires ExtraCheats.dll) General Stats Folegate Offices (1x, $$) (Growable) Lot Sizes: 3x3, 4x4, 5x5, 5x6, 6x5, 7x7 Growth Stage: 5 for all sizes except 3x3 (stage 6), and 7x7 lot (stage 4) Office Capacity: 729 CO$$ Density Requirement: Medium Power/Water: 15/155 Pollution at Center A/W/G/R: 2/2/4/0 Folegate Leasings (1x, $$$) (Growable) Lot Sizes: 6x8 Growth Stage: 3 Office Capacity: 511 CO$$$, 729 CO$$ when dilapidated Density Requirement: Medium Power/Water: 21/233 Pollution at Center A/W/G/R: 3/3/4/0 Folegate Place (2x) (Growable) Lot Sizes: 6x5, 7x9 Growth Stage: 5 Office Capacity: 1456 CO$$ Density Requirement: Medium Power/Water: 30/301 Pollution at Center A/W/G/R: 5/5/4/0 Folegate Ranch (3x) (Ploppable) Menu: Landmarks Lot Size: 11x9 Office Capacity: 2182 CO$$ Power/Water: 44/446 Pollution at Center A/W/G/R: 8/8/4/0 Plop Cost: 67,500$ All buildings grow on the Houston and Euro Tilesets, and have basic BTE tracking enabled. 18. 1 - Airport Special District (Part 1)

RAY ISLANDS CITY JOURNAL BY RAIKIP 1 - Airport Special District (Part 1) Hello everybody and welcome to the Ray Islands! In this post we will be exploring the Airport Special District, a suburb of Summerdale in this post. For the sake of convenience I will be referring the Airport Special District as the District as that's easier to type. Airport Special District stats: (Current) Population: 20,094 sims Major roads passing through: Freeway 1, Toll Freeway 14, Freeway 314, National Highways 45 and 10 Map / Overview: Yeah, I have to admit that map was badly photoshopped... On to the Journal! First let's take a look at one of the island's biggest freeway interchanges, the Airport Interchange between Freeways 1 and 14. (here is a version of the photo without signs) \/ click here This massive interchange contains 3 levels, 7 ramps, and at its widest point a total of 14 lanes! It was built to handle incoming traffic headed toward the future airport as well as commuters getting off and on Freeways 1 and 14, both major roads within the Greater Summerdale Area. Another major attraction within the District is the Gateway Mall! Taking advantage of the District's very low commerce taxes, this large mall draws in a very large crowd from across the entire island. Along with a super regional shopping mall, within the surrounding areas many large chain stores have set up shop within the area such as Target, Home Depot, Ikea, and many more! Here's a picture of the mall and its surrounding shopping centers. If your wondering why there is a brown box in the middle of the Super Target shopping center, yeah I don't know either. (I have figured out the source of the problem but cannot fix it for some reason.) Click here for a more close look at some miscellaneous shopping centers. \/ Here is a more closer look at the transit center for the Gateway Mall area. I'm going to leave you all with a picture of some of the more residential areas of the city. click this to see more pictures \/ Well that's it for today everyone! Opinions on the city are GREATLY appreciated. See you all later!
  19. ITS Office Parks - Holbourne Offices

    Version 1.0.0

KOSC presents: Holbourne Offices Introduction This is the 9th set of lots in my ITS Office Park series. Holbourne House is another rather generic mid-rise from Ill Tonkso's City Set that fits well in an urban setting as well as part of a suburban office complex. While I have lotted this one before as part of my very first complex release, I felt that the individual buildings were worthy contenders as standalones. Package Overview Holbourne Offices comes with several different growable configurations and orientations. The centerpiece ploppable in the set is a large 10x10 semi-symmetrical complex with a couple of parking extender lots. Addtionally, all growable lots also boast parking lots with multiple entrances and were designed for expansion in mind. Like many office complexes in the suburban US, parking lots can sprawl several blocks and in all sorts of shapes and sizes and thus these growables were meant to play well with the SP Modular Parking Set. Included in the following package are a total of 9 lots: 6 CO$$ growables, one CO$$$ ploppable and two parking lots disguised as parks. There are two different packages, the standard version and a LITE version. 20. Gypsy Hill

Good Evening Everyone and welcome to the newest entry for Powhatan Island!!! Replies: @Kim SunwooThank you for the kind words! I appreciate it! @MymyjpThank you!!!! This entry covers the town of Gypsy Hill, which I named after Gypsy Hill Park in Staunton, Virginia. This town is one of the older towns in the state of Powhatan Island, and located just east of the tallest peak in the state, Gypsy Hill, which is a monadnock isolated from the Appalachian Mountains far to the west. The town recently experienced significant growth as many people moved to the town to escape relatively high cost of living closer to Powhatan City, and to be near the mountain and Powhatan National Forest, which surrounds the mountain and covers about 1/3rd of the entire southern island of the state. Gypsy Hill is also the home of the Powhatan Island Military Academy, a senior military college similar to The Citadel, Virginia Military Institute, and Norwich University. Without further adieu, here is Gypsy Hill, showcasing the recently installed Meadowshire Terrain Mod by C.P., complementing his tree mod which I've had for years! Gypsy Hill's small, quaint downtown: A shot of downtown with the Town Hall: A commuter train heading towards Powhatan City, passing thru downtown: The town is filled with numerous historic neighborhoods, with most homes being built between 1705 and 1920: Here is Powhatan Island Brewing Company, a fine craft brewery producing numerous varieties of delicious ales, located southwest of town: And here is Powhatan Island Military Academy, or PIMA, this is a major work-in-progress and I will probably replace the parade ground with SimPeg's ploppable Civil War soldiers and add a bunch of other details to enhance the campus: Football and lacrosse fields: Baseball stadium: PIMA Obstacle Course: The parade ground, where cadets participate in parades every Friday, and before home football games, a very popular event for the townsfolk! And finally, here is the town's namesake, Gypsy Hill, as well as a closing picture showing a high-level view of the area: Hope you enjoyed this entry, stay tuned for more!
  21. Mayor's Suburban

    Version 1.0.0

Ah, fame and fortune! One of the most sought after lifestyles on earth. And holding the title of Mayor provides a great stepping stone to it. But even the very best have their limits in taste- I mean, who rides in limosines anymore? Constantly needing to avoid wide turns and getting stuck on shallow inclines alone have prompted the elite to transfer to a more sensible means of transportation. The Chevrolet Suburban provides a touch of class all the while providing ample room for more of your friends and fans. About the upload: This file is a replacement for the Maxis Mayor's Limosine. The vehicle is a 2011 Chevrolet Suburban and is drivable once the Mayor's House is constructed in your city. Dependencies? None required.
  22. Holt: One Year Later

Welcome to Holt District! Holt District is my brand-new CJ and is also my second one. In this journal we will follow the Region of Holt District through developments - both good and bad - and the pains on motorists as roads are widened and residents + businesses as utilities are tinkered with the allow for new developments. We will see developments go from the planning phases, through construction all the way to the end process. Likewise, those of you who know of Windemere & Taschereau also know I like road construction. That, too will be part of this CJ as when an area grows, so to do the demands on its road/transit network. Holt District will vary from Windemere & Taschereau in that instead of me adding "new" cities throughout the course of the CJ, the cities I start with are it. Any new cities that come up will be result of new developments, and the bureaucratic mess that goes with it. As mentioned, we will see developments go from a plan to finished product. While this is not true for all developments - that would get boring pretty quick we will see some major developments through the entire process, and on a variety of styles. (Suburban sprawl, urban skyscrapers, business parks, etc.) Holt District has been in development for several months, since about later March/early April. It has been a long road to this point, and those who have been following my Innocent Posts will (hopefully) be excited to be here, just as I am. Now, before I begin today's update (Yay update 1!) I will go into a bit about the CJ website, map and twitter feed. For information about the region of Holt District itself, check out the CJ website! Additional Media: Additional media will play a very large roll in Holt District. Holt District (the CJ) has a website (holtdistrict.weebly.com - link at the bottom of this post) which has some information about the region and general news that you won't generally get in an update. Sometimes a special post will be made to highlight something on the website, with feedback and discussion more than welcome here in the Holt District topic. Generally development proposals will be posted on the site, with discussion about them taking place here. The process of watching it go from plan to finished product will also take place here. It is only the "application", if you will, that is posted on the website. Also, Holt District will have a streetmap. To be located at maps.holtdistrict.host22.com, it will be a streetmap (i.e. the elevated rail lines won't be on it.) This may change in the future as my abilities in this area improve. When this feature launches (it is currently only a welcome page) there will also be a regional transportation view available for more detail in other areas of transit - including EL-RAIL. Lastly, Holt District Has twitter! Twitter will be used to let you know when updates will be coming out, random teasers and general "What I'm working on in the region today is..." So with that... let's get onto the update. Again, welcome - to Holt District! INTRODUCTION + RETAIL 'DILEMMA' 1.1 \ Shorecoast Shopping Centre is at the cross-roads of 2 major arterial roads in Manatee. Having grown over time with 2 additions and several renovations, the mall is now home to Hecht's, Sears, JCPenney and a large multiplex movie theatre. The mall is a major draw for residents of not only Manatee, but the entire region as it is the only enclosed shopping centre in the region. 1.2 \ Over time, the owner of the mall, Centurion Properties, Inc., developed portions of the massive parking lot into large office buildings. Several office building and even a department store exist on what was once pavement. When confronted with these proposals (over time) the city's council easily approved the developments, saying "It helps break up the pavement monster which is the Shorecoast parking lot, all while brining jobs to the area." Indeed, this building alone employs over 2 000 people. 1.3 \ Although the mall has a diverse clientele, and wise base where it draws customers from - its biggest return visitors and spenders are those who live right around the mall. This is one of the older sections of Manatee. 1.4 \ The food court benefits from a high school which is about a 10 minute walk away. The food court suring any of the lunches is packed - if you are a non-high school student you need to pick and choose when you go for lunch or a snack. 1.5 \ However, not all retail is booming. This Kmart store, which has been in this location for 35 years - and expanded several times - has been loosing business to the mall since it has opened. The mid-range department stores in the mall have stolen business away from Kmart, while an out-of-town Walmart has put the nail in the coffin. Rumours of its closing have been swirling for years, though no official confirmation from the company. 1.6 \ The only saving grace for this location is it is across the street from this minor league stadium, home to various local sports teams and the soccer and foorball teams from the highschool just down the street. Often, people will purchase snacks from Kmart, and on cool nights sales of blankets soar. 1.7 \ Another source of customers is the casino resort, Holt Casino & Resort. It is inevitable that travellers forget something, and with Kmart in walking distance several tourists enter the store each week. While this is not a steady source of income for the store, it is better than nothing. 1.8 \ However, Kmart's demise may now be more real than ever. Rumours are swirling that Walmart is in the process of purchasing the property from the land owner. The fact Kmart's lease is up in 11 months is doing nothing to help squash the rumour. Walmart previously tried to enter Manatee, 10 years ago, but their plan was rejected. Since this is already a retail site, chances any changes they make to the building would be approved. When their plan was rejected 10 years ago, they located 2 highway exits to the south in another town. 1.9 \ It is becoming increasingly likely that the residents of the luscious suburbs in and around Kmart could soon be faced with the sound of construction vehicles for months. That is all for today, the first update of Holt District! I hope for those who have been following its development it is everything you have been looking forward to. I am super excited about the prospects of this new CJ, and I hope you will stay for the journey as things develop! Next Update: We will be looking at some more of suburban Manatee and may just venture into its downtown core...
