A bit late to the party, my first map*. Made using Google and Paint.net, it's basic, mostly flat and fairly large. Scale was beaten up and left for dead. *(Not even my first Big Earth Map! My bad - Please also see "Another Big Earth Map" too)

  3. SC4 Earth Maps Grayscale and SC4M

    Version 1.2.0

    298 Downloads

5 Various maps of the Earth for rendering in SC4, and including one SC4M file. MAP FILES INCLUDED: Folder: Earth Grayscale Heightmaps 01_Earth_257x257_1x1_Signature.bmp 02_Earth_513x257_1x2_Hemispheres.bmp 03_Earth_513x513_2x2_Squared.bmp 04_Earth_769x513_2x3_Continents.bmp 05_Earth_769x513_2x3_Relief.bmp All files listed above and below are in the same sequence as the previews. Folder: Regions Earth Signature 1x1 Earth Hemispheres 1x2 Earth Squared 2x2 Earth Continents 2x3 Earth Relief 2x3 The following text is contained in the zipfile in readme.txt and HTML. INSTALL the REGIONS Folder: SC4M Earth 2x3 Relief I have included an .SC4M map of the '05_Earth_769x513_2x3_Relief' map in a new folder. To load the map in SC4 Mapper, click on 'Create Region' and select 'Grayscale'. SC4 Mapper creates the city files and a config.bmp file by default, but not a region.ini file. A region.ini file is included in the folder which may be cut and pasted into the Region folder SC4 Mapper creates. Included above are 2 new previews (to the right) showing an image from SC4 Mapper, and the rendered map in 'SC4 Region View.' FOR ALL OTHER MAPS using the SC4 in-game Map Renderer From the unzipped 'Regions' folder select any or all of the sub folders, cut and paste into your user '/Documents/ SimCity 4/Regions' folder. Each of the Regions will then appear in your 'Region' menu in the game with the same name as the folder. Each folder contains a region.ini file and a config.bmp file, defining the name and layout of the region. The 'Earth Signature' region is a 1x1 large city tile, containing only one large blank terra-formed tile. This folder also contains 1 city file (662k) named 'City - New City.sc4'. This region does not have to be rendered and may be viewed and used immediately in the game. The city has not been 'Start'ed so is still named 'City - New City.sc4'. All other region folders only contain the region.ini and config.bmp files, the maps must be rendered in SC4 region view using the included grayscale heightmaps in .bmp (256 indexed grayscale 8-bit) format. The grayscale heightmaps in this package were hand designed for use with the SC4 in-game map renderer using a popular color relief map. If you use SC4 Mapper or Terraformer, smoother surfaces and smaller file sizes may be achieved, but elevation interpretation is different, generally the water level is one increment shallower, some land area may go under. Instructions for rendering the maps with SC4 can be found at the bottom of this page. SCALING in SC4 3D SPACE: The maps are not proportionally scaled either horizontally or vertically, they only represent a general idea of area and height. Horizontally, the term 'tile' is used for both the grid of squares in the city view and the grid of cities in the region view. One city view tile is 16m x16m, and one large city tile in region view is 4km x 4km. Grid lines in city view may be toggled on/off by pressing the 'g' key. Grid lines in region view may be switched on/off by checking/unchecking 'Show City Boundaries'. Vertically, buildings are scaled in (cubic) meters, but land area and elevations are more often very disproportional. In my 'Earth Relief' map one increment of land in region view is about equal to 1800m, so 5 increments from sea level is the highest point on Earth at near 9000m. There are 62 (62 x 1800m) increments from the bottom of the sea in SC4 to the top of its 3D space, sea level cannot be raised or lowered from its 6 increment setting. In terms of my 'Relief Map' then 6 x 1800m is the deepest surface below sea level at 10,800m, almost 11 kilometers. Actual scientific measurements indicate about the same depth. Consistently, the top of SC4 space is (62 x 1800) 111,600m, about 112km above the solid surface of the Earth. Objects below about 160km in orbit are considered to be below "Low Earth Orbit". The International Space Station orbits at about 3 times the height of SC4 space in the same spherical area defined as the 'Thermosphere' of the Earth. INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS: 1.) Launch SC4. In Region View use the Load Region scroll menu to locate and open the region you want. 2.) In Region View press CTRL-ALT-SHIFT-R. You should now have a window in the top-left corner. 3.) Navigate to the 'Earth Grayscale Heightmaps' subfolder in the unzipped 'SC4 Earth Maps 256 Grayscale' folder. 4.) Scroll to the bitmap (.bmp) corresponding to the region you have selected and click 'Okay'. (The exact file names of the region and map must match) The simulator should begin processing the map. If successful, you will see the region with city layout. The processing takes from a few minutes to several minutes to complete. --/--

Hi everybody, I created this map two years ago to start a new region, I'm still working on my cities because this map simply gives a lot of space and (to me) is still interesting to build on. Two years after making this I still haven't changed a lot since putting it into use.... Making this map alone took quite some time...So I thought If I like it (and I'm very picky about maps -that's why I originally started this project) maybe some people would like to try this also. So this is my map of Cape York or Blue Summit (still can't decide which name is better... what do you think?). It's 11x13 huge tiles. That's 44kmx52km = 2.288 km²! It's loosely inspired by the region of Eureka, CA and Astoria, OR mixed together with the mountains of Olympic National Park, WA. Maybe I even used original map data and somehow meshed it together with paint, I can't even remember. Expect a very complex river delta made from three rivers confluencing in this region, very extensive riparian and zones and marsh inland, lots of plain space to build on. Many possibles sites for a harbour of biggest dimensions, marinas, "Manhattan-like" island downtowns, suburbs all the way up to the horizon, international airports, it all fits on this map. I'm using the CPT_OlympicTerrainMod http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1637 ( with Columbus Terrain Mod as dependency...?) I recommend very much the CPT_No7a_OlympicCoast_TreeController http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1638 if you plan to set it in the Pacific Northwest. I also like RVT Coastal Mod - by rivit http://workingman-productions.co.uk/downloads/rivit_coastal.html. The grey Beach fits quite well to the Pacific northwest I suppose. Rivit's Coastal Mod has some nice choices for water, as well. Until now I couldn't decide though which is the perfect water for it, would love to hear some recommendations. I also use the excellent: It comes as greyscale-png and .sc4m file, so you can alter it beforehand. I've to admit there's some blind spots in the most eastern border, but I literally lost all creativity shortly before reaching the finish line But it's a really small area, you won't settle there a long time. Maybe I can post a rendered screen if there's demand... Have fun with this one
  9. Atlantis Region Map

    Version 1.0.0

    337 Downloads

The Previews above from left to right show, 1) Atlantis as SC4 Mapper displays it in Region view, 2) The config.sys file as it was enlarged and used as the shape of the island, 3) The grayscale map made from the config.sys file with a hill and 2 inland lakes added, 4) A map of the Region as seen in SC4 Mapper, 5) A partially re-textured region as cities were loaded and saved from the SC4 Mapper Region view, 6) The default texture generated by SC4 when the grayscale is manually loaded using CNTRL+SHIFT+ALT+R, and, 7) A view of a partially developed region. Atlantis is a fictional island world from Ancient Greek mythology, initially popularized by the philosopher Plato who composed modern ethics and ideals into his revised stories of Atlantis. The region is mostly flat land with lots of access to water. This download includes both an .SC4M file, and an 8-bit .bmp, 256 grayscale indexed heightmap, config.bmp and region.ini files. The grayscale map can either be manually installed or imported into SC4 Mapper or SC4 Terraformer to generate an .SC4M file that you may prefer to work with. The above preview images and basic instructions for manual installation also included. _______________________________________________________________________ EDIT Feb 28, 2017 An alternate Atlantis map can be found below. The grayscale can be rendered in SC4, or loaded into SC4 Mapper. The map below may be considered to be more specific to the story, or at least to the popular versions of it. Its a flat map made up of concentric circles divided into sections. 10. I want to install a custom region I downloaded from the Stex. It has a .SC4M file, so I need to use either SC4Terraformer or SC4Mapper 2013 Edition. Both programs are said not to work on Linux. SC4Terraformer does seem to start in wine. It shows a window in which I can navigate directories. Apparently it recognizes the "region" folder in which I have the SC4M file, it then loads and lists all city tiles with 3 options. 2 of them are (protect trees and protect mayor) SC4Mapper edition 2013 doesn't even load the region folder when I navigate there. It just hangs and I have to force quit the program. Is there any method so I can do it on Ubuntu. Or is every Linux user completely unable to import custom user made regions?
  11. Ise, Mie Prefecture, Japan

    Version A

    392 Downloads

Good Day,This is my third scaled map. This is a precise scale map of the cities of Ise, Shima and surrounding environs in Mie Prefecture (Japan). This is a terrain and scale-precise map of a part of Mie Prefecture in Japan (that means it exists). It is 32km x 32km in size made up of all large tiles. It is in both 16bit .png and .SC4M formats. This is a semi-accurate (precise) scale map of the cities of Ise, Shima, the Ise-Shima National Park and surrounding environs, Mie Prefecture in Japan. Located on the southwest corner of Ise Bay, this area also covers one of Japan’s most sacred shrines, the Ise-jingu. This project was finished for a friend who happens to live in the city of Ise. This map is finished using the latest imagery from NASA, contour data from the university, and SC4 Terraformer to smooth out some holes in the raster data.It is important that you read the READ ME file before proceeding to anything!Thanks!-Tonraq
  12. Lakes and Rivers

    Version 1.1

    1,002 Downloads

This is a lakes and rivers map that was quite literally a labor of love. It took me 4 SC4M files to get this map because SC4 Terraformer kept crashing on me. It is based off my Mississippi Region Map http://community.sim...ppi-region-map/ I hope you enjoy this and if you have any ideas for me to improve on my map making please leave me a comment and I'll see what I can do. I do want to point out that the region map may not look the same when you load this map because of an extra terrain mod that is PURELY optional and not necessary in any sense for this map. It is the Meadowshire Terrain Mod and will give you pretty flowers and a higher level of detail for the terrain. http://sc4devotion.c...c.php?lotGET=58 It requires Registration and Login to download and is only listed for the serious player who wants more detail like me for their game. Difficulty : Intermediate This map has an intermediate rating due to the rivers, lakes and ponds and is geared more towards players who want to use bridge and boat mods I also want to give a shout out to Hamish for telling me about the Region View Mod to give you a preview of the map fully rendered in SC4. The readme is listed below and is included with the download. This map is 16x16 large city tiles. Installing the map : 1. Open SC4 Terraformer 2. Open a default SimCity 4 Region 3. Once loaded go to File and then Create Region 4. Name your Region to what you like 5. Locate the SC4M file (lakes and rivers.SC4M) 6. Hit Enter and wait for the region to load 7. Modify the map to what you want it to be and then hit Save 8. Open SimCity 4 and load your region. The Map should look the way you saved it. You will need to place the Tropical Climate Mod Folder in your plugins folder for SimCity 4 and NOT in the documents plugin folder or it won't work. /Program Files (x86)/Electronic Arts/simcity4/plugins Note : The Electronic Arts folder maybe called Maxis but this is the version I have You will need the Tropical Climate Mod Folder to render grass when you start a new city. If you don't then it will be bare scrubland. A large map of India, not sure of the area. This is another master map meaning that if you play it as is it will be extremely hard or you can smooth it with SC4 Terraformer before saving. 14. Mississippi Region Map

    Version 1.1

This is a Lakes Region Map that is based upon the Mississippi River. Not sure of the actual area but it's fairly accurate and is based off a satellite photo. This map is more conducive for building cities and is mainly flat with only a few furrows and some "divots" which can be remedied in SC4 Terraformer. There is a main furrow for the Mississippi river but SC4 did not render the water for it. 15. Dublin, Ireland

    Version 1.0

    771 Downloads

This is my first effort at 'legitimate' terraforming - terrain map courtesy of NationalGeographic.com's interactive map maker. I *think* I got the scale right, but I make no guarantees in that department. Dublin (Baile Ãtha Cliath, meaning "town of the hurdled ford") is the capital and most populous city of Ireland. The English name for the city is derived from the Irish name Dubhlinn, meaning "black pool". Dublin is situated near the midpoint of Ireland's east coast, at the mouth of the River Liffey and the center of the Dublin Region. Originally founded as a Viking settlement, it evolved into the Kingdom of Dublin and became the island's principal city following the Norman Invasion. The city expanded rapidly from the 17th century; it was briefly the second largest city in the British Empire and the fifth largest in Europe. Dublin entered a period of stagnation following the Act of Union of 1800, but it remained the economic center for most of the island. Following the partition of Ireland in 1922, the new parliament, the Oireachtas, was located in Leinster House. Dublin became the capital of the Irish Free State and later the Republic of Ireland. Map size is 14 by 8 Large City tiles - made with/requires Wouanagaine's SC4TerraFormer. Enjoy!!

Basically the same version of 2.0 but now in SC4M format so it can be edited in Terraformer You will need to edit this in SC4 Terraformer first to smooth out all the hills. This is an actual map and the greyscale used to render this map is 4097x4097 pixels alone. The original image used is 8600x7000 pixels which allows for a high amount of detailing when SC4 renders the map. Difficulty : Master This map is 16x16 large city tiles. Installing the map : 1. Open SC4 Terraformer 2. Open a default SimCity 4 Region 3. Once loaded go to File and then Create Region 4. Name your Region to what you like 5. Locate the SC4M file (tabula rasa 2.1.SC4M) 6. 17. Hi, I have downloaded the Aberdeen map created by izidor44 last night. Today I followed the instructions at the 'uploading maps for ST' thread, all the way to the actual file import to the Terraformer. Here comes the issue: The region uploaded to the terraformer is literally flat and no new files are made when I try to save it into the region folder. What went wrong? Is the .sc4m file broken? Am i doing something wrong?
