  1. Real Freightyard V2

    Version 2.0

PREFACE This small project was strongly inspired by the „SFBT Rangierbahnhof“ by Royal (http://www.simcityplaza.de/index.php/verkehr/eisenbahn?start=30) which I used to built up big railyards. So I tried to make something similar for Real Railway (included in the NAM). These means the engines are german/european style - but you could simply replace them in lot editor to make the lots fitting other areas. The props are timed - this means the trains appear and disappear from time to time, giving the impression of sweat and work and productivity. Sadly the engine models have no nightlight. If someone has an idear how to put some "overnight action" on the lots please tell me. Thank you. Before downloading please make shure you already the necessary dependencies or if they are still available: CONTENT 1 x functional freight station, size 5 x 7, capacity 6000 (tons per minute?) 4 x single shunting tracks (right english word?), size 1 x 9. They can be connected to the rail system, but have no transport function. They have a small positive effect on economies. 2 x shunting tracks with junctions, size 3 x 8, can be used alone or in combination with the single tracks. 2 x filler lots, size 1x1. DEPENDENCIES BSC Mega Props - JES Vol01.dat BSCMegaProps - JES Vol05.dat PEG-CDK3-SP_SEAPORT_SUPER-PAK.dat SFBT_Eisenbahn_Props.dat RRW_Lottex_SM2.dat RRW_Lottex_SM2R2.dat INSTALLATION 1. Please make shure you have all required dependencies 2. Unzip your dowload. 3. Put both files RRW Freightstation 4x7.dat and RRW Freightyard.dat in your Plugin folder. Or take only one, if you don't need f.e. the station.
  2. RUM for RRW

    Version 4.0

NAM v32 has added a new approach to rail - Real Railway - which is expected to continue to evolve. RRW looks great, is quite complete, is usable and easy to convert to. This mod adds a few extras to the NAM set and offers preliminary support for things that can be expected to change over time. Included are 10 NAM Viaduct skins, re-rendered Rail Tunnels and Crossings for all of my Streets as well as my first take on the Maxis railway crossings, NAM FLUPS and a partially complete T21 set for the plundere catenaries. The mod is packaged so that it is put into plugins exactly as it is in the zip (i.e.. Plugins/Z___RVT Modds/RVT zRUM for RRW) and you delete that which you do not use. Please refer to the readme.txt file included for more details. NOTE: If you have previously installed the Rail Upgrade Mod but now use NAM RRW then the RUM should be completely uninstalled - these files takes its place. The Original RUM is not compatible with RRW which is a completely different rail set. This mod will not work with any version of NAM prior to NAMv32. RRW must be activated. rivit Feb 2014. Version 4 is an interim release adding new features and fixes identified since 2014. rivit May 2016

  4. Welcome to the development thread for CT14 lots and BAT. Here's a quick list of current releases so you don't have to scroll through the thread to find them all: North American Freight Sidings Llama Terminal Company SABER LA River Troy Gasholder Building FAB Diagonal Industrials Lowrider Props In-N-Out Lowrider Show Old Time Power Plants - jestarr Boilerhouses --- North American Freight Sidings original first post: Inspired by the lack of existing lots representing protypical North American freight railroad sidings, I've created a system of lots that can be used to create eye-candy rail sidings. They are transit-enabled for appearance. I have been encouraged to share my progress in a dedicated thread by helpful feedback in the Show Us Your Railroads general thread, especially from SimCoug, T-Wrecks, raynev1. And the whole thing wouldn't exist without the Jestarr props. Features: 18 ploppable lots for different railcar types on double track rail Transit enabled connections to make the lots fit in seamlessly anywhere Three prop families to provide a variety from Jestarr's boxcars, intermodal and general merchandise freight ("Junkers") RRW compatibility Known issues: Transparent texture bug as described here http://community.simtropolis.com/forums/topic/42425-transparent-texture-issue/ The lots need custom icons created and added, through Reader as described here: http://www.wiki.sc4devotion.com/index.php?title=Tutorial:Inserting_a_custom_menu_icon_with_the_Ilive_Reader Future development ideas: Single Track Rail lots don't match exactly when using textures extracted from the RAM .dat, and I probably need permission to use them separately in any case. So, STR sidings may be a separate release at some point. Four-track lots would be prototypical for large yard trackage, but don't exist in RRW. Custom textures might allow some eye-candy four-track lots in future, this would resemble an updated subset of NCD. Dependencies: BSCMegaProps JES Vol01 (v1.0) - http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=342 For RRW, you need the NAM with RRW enabled. Download: Please report bugs here. Thanks!
  5. Two railway textures

I'm probably a big fat goobus who missed something essential during NAM installation, but I've been living with this for a while and it drives me nuts. My draggable rail has a completely different texture from the puzzle pieces.
  6. SM2 RRW nsb Tex

    Version 4

Ever wanted to place just the rails on a concrete surface? Well, with 398 pieces at your disposal, now you can. PIMX and LE users rejoice! This RRW compatible sleeper-less and ballast-less texture set is made to be used on concrete, asphalt, brick and stone surfaces. I have covered almost every possible rail configuration. I left out some that would not be suitable to place on lots. Included with this pack is a comprehensive jpeg collection of some of the possible configurations to get you started. Remember that you can flip, mirror and rotate the tiles for even more possibilities. Your imagination is the limit. If you have any questions or would like me to add even more configurations, please visit my thread at SCD4 to post your requests. http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=17211.340 Dependencies? 7. Industrial - intro

Mayor: Wournos IV Residents: >2500 Commercial: >3700 Industry: >4600 Funds: >28800 City area: Small Overview (North points right) Industrial was founded to supply Residential Evil with work and to keep pollution away from housing. Initially it had one long strip of dirty industry with two avenues going alongside the sector. As pollution rose complaints were made. Trees were planted, parks were constructed and even demolishing of factories to make room for trees happened. The pollution remained. Traffic congestion increased. Mayor Wournos II made a radical choice - demolish everything and rebuild. A plain highway with cloverleaf intersections were built, separating the city into four smaller areas. A rail connection to Residential Evil was made. But that was it. No one knew how to connect the rest of Industrial to this main line. The mayor hired rail builders with basic education from NAM University and let them create viaducts over the existing high-way. Funds plummeted to as low as §2000. Meanwhile there was a high regional demand for high-tech industry. Taxes were raised to flush out dirty industry (thus reducing pollution), commercial replaced some industry and a small residential area was founded in the yet unpolluted south-east corner. Neighbourhood deals Water: bought from Residential Evil Garbage: Bought from Farms and Residential Evil (only 50 units; wft?!) In the pipeline Cut down palms from sidewalks Improve rail freight traffic Build a rail yard Reduce pollution Separate I-M from I-HT (there is a mod for this) Rail and high-tech industry. Don't mind the parabole bug on the rail viaduct. erm Posh residential and train station.
  8. Industrial - v2.2

So... let's begin with version 2.2. For reference, this is version 2.0 - before the IRM Pack installation. The pictures says stage 1 but it is actually stage 2. The first one was just a horrible (could it be possible?!) mash of street, roads and avenues with extremely cluttered industry and severe traffic congestion. The Maxis Highway was replaced yesterday with a more ... "prettier" NAM highway. It totally killed city funds. 40,000-something Simoleans dropped to roughly 16,000 because the Network muppets didn't know what they were doing. The change was clearly needed because driving through the city was a major pain in the backside. All these on and off ramps in all directions would drive any sane person mad - no pun intended! In the pipeline Figure out where to place railroad Shuffle industry to fit with railroad Focus on South-West sector (workforce from Residential Evil) Whatever else springs to mind as work progresses And since I cannot link a picture from URL... (why?! It worked in the past) Industrial - Overview stage 2.2

  10. SM2 Abandoned Train Stop

    Version 1.0.0

SM2 Abandoned Train Stop. This train stop has been sitting in my hard drive for too long. Time to release it!. Best plopped in those seedy parts of town....or industrial areas perhaps. Plop cost 3000 Bulldoze cost 300 Power req 44 Capacity 7500 It still acts as a passenger station plus it will let freight trains go through it. No dependencies and as a bonus it is also Maxis vanilla rail compatible. Works like a charm! Enjoy. Simmer2
  11. SM2_MV_Heritage Roundhouse

    Version 1.0.0

As requested by @MissVanleider (Thus the MV on the lot name) This is the smaller version of SM2 Heritage Roundhouse. (Lot size 14X14) The new distinctive name is SM2_MV_Heritage Roundhouse. (Lot size = 8X14) Cost to plop = 30,000 Cost to bulldoze = 3,000 Monthly maintenance = 220 Provides 34 jobs. This version will not allow trains to pass through however you can still connect the rail and street stubs to the game networks for a better visual effect. Dependencies The original SM2 Heritage Roundhouse and its dependencies. http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=3500 or If you don't want the original lot to show up in your rail menu then just remove "SM2 Heritage Roundhouse.dat" from your plugin. The rest must remain in the plugin in order to have no issues with SM2_MV_Heritage Roundhouse. Enjoy Simmer2
  12. SM2 Heritage Roundhouse

    Version 1.0.0

Hello everyone. I present you with SM2 Heritage Roundhouse. In the past, rail roundhouses were extensively used all over North America as a repair facility for trains, specifically locomotives. They were designed with that characteristic roundish design in order to take less real estate when building a train repair facility. Coupled with a massive turntable, they greatly decreased a rail yard footprint. There are a few still in operation (very few) and they are mostly used to house old and retired locomotives donated by railway companies. Sort of like a museum for engines. Some have been converted into retail space while keeping the nostalgic feel of days gone past by displaying old engines and equipment on the front of the building. This lot represents months of preparations and lots of specific props making. Together with a detailed and realistic custom base texture, I tried to capture reality as much as possible. Vester's latest train engines prop pack fits this lot perfectly due to the many angles he released. Also with the usage of a clever trick, you are now able to pick different textures (companies liveries) from 5 different texture packs he released along the engine prop pack. Once you install vester's prop pack you must choose one of his texture colors in order for the locomotives to show properly. The lot is 14X14 and is designed to allow either freight and passenger trains to cross the DTR section at the bottom of the lot, the other rail exits/entries will only connect visually and so will the street stubs. Plop cost 45,000 Bulldoze cost 4,500 Power consumed 190 Water consumed 120 Maintenance cost 220/month It will also provide 34 jobs. You will find it under the rail menu. This lot makes use of an extensive array of timed props with multiple angle designs in order to achieve a sort of animation with HD props. There are also many other timed props so that the lot looks livelier throughout the day. Action starts at 7am and keeps going until 6pm (closing time) after that time the lot will look empty because everyone has gone home but for one person and one vehicle, the night security guard on the left lower rail hut area. From time to time you may see overlapping timed props, especially at the turntable sequence, this is due to game lag and depending on the speed of your processor you may or may not see it. Wait a few game days and it will correct itself. Dependency list. A big thank you goes to rivit for creating a single template for vester's out of the ordinary exemplars in order for me to make timed ones. Thank you Ron! I am missing some rail textures?
  14. anyone knows how to fix that? on road also
  15. Hi I am having a problem getting my RRW to work properly on my Windows XP setup. I am missing the catenaries that line the track. I have the Plundere's catenary essentials dependency and here is a picture of my folder with the relevant .dat files added per the readme instructions. Funnily this worked fine on my mac setup, so I am wondering what I am doing wrong here! I am sure there is something that is wrong and I am not even sure everything else is working as it should with the RRW. This is what my rail line looks like. Is this even RRW? Thanks so much for any help and let me know if more information is needed. PC
  16. Railstation update

I've done some work with and arround the main rail station.
  17. Surface Rail Pax Stations

I am currently placing passenger stations on the rail net spanning my large region. My reading in the deep archives confuses me, because some "experts" say I should put all stations on spurs, while others say that the Maxis station doesn't have rail-through its lot, so its capacity is not slammed by through traffic, so it can be placed on a main-line a la real-life. I don't dare resurrect one of the moldering threads from like 2011, so... Is there anyone left alive today who can tell me which story to believe, and maybe explain (or point to the correct explanation) what's happening with pax stations? And then there's the real mystery: IRL, there's about one commuter station each two miles. That's about one per SimCity sector. Therefore I've been locating one Maxis station in the center of each sector bisected by rail. My vision is to build a village/town around that station in each sector. Can that work with SC4's model, or should I use rail mainly to move sims within sectors, placing a station every two blocks a la subway lines? FWIW, I am using NAM-35 (medium) with RRW. RRW solves all rail problems right? Please tell me that with RRW, I can place my stations in a natural way, and my sims will all find jobs no matter where they are in the region OK, I'll settle for the truth as long as I can understand it
  18. PEG's CDK3 container port is supposedly transit-enabled with a socket for a rail connection. However, I can't find an elevation at which rail can actually connect. Every time I place the port/station, it punches the elevation down. Then when I drag rail (RRW) to its railhead, a height-shift retaining wall appears, leaving my rail about 10' above the port instead of joined. I've even tried using the god-mode leveling tool to bring all surrounding land down to the level of the port (annihilating one port that I had to replace with another). The replacement port sank the land even further, so the rail connection failed again. Has anyone ever succeeded in joining any kind of rail to the rail-enabled CDK3 container port? If so, is there a special technique needed to get the elevations matched? And what about RRW? Should RRW connect with anything designed for Maxis rail, or could it be incompatible with a mod lot tricked to act as a Maxis freight station? EDIT: If I can't fix this next time I play, then I'll grab a screenshot and try to post it.
  19. MGB - RRW to Subway Ramps

    Version v2.0

This package contains models and two lots to allow you to switch from Rail (RRW Style) to an underground subway network. Included files MGB_RRW_DTR to Subway Ramp_453bcaf5.SC4Lot Lot file for DTR Rail to Subway converter. MGB_RRW_STR to Subway Ramp_1fc6cdcf.SC4Lot ** NEW ** Lot file for STR Rail to Subway converter. RRW Ramp_Resource.dat Required Models and Props. RRW Ramp Paths_RHD.dat Path files for RHD users. Most users should install this file. RHD is for sims driving on the right side of the road. zRRW Ramp Paths_LHD.dat Alternate path files for LHD users. DO NOT install this file unless you are using a LHD setup for SC4/NAM. LHD is for sims driving upon the left side of the road. Install Simply extract the files in the included .zip archive and place those you need somewhere in your Plugins folder. If you use my other mods, you could place these in the root of the z____MGB Mods folder, but it's not specifically required. Please ensure previous versions are removed completely before installing. It should be noted that I have amended all the original files, which should be considered as obsolete. Usage When you want to switch the rail network to subway, find a suitable space (5x1) for the ramps and place either the STR (Single Track Rail) or DTR (Dual Track Rail) variant as required. You will find these lots in the Misc. Transit menu, just after the bus stops usually. Make sure you draw rail through the lot completely to activate the paths on the ramp. Then switch to the subway tool (Shift + T), to continue the network from the ramp with subway. You can either switch to subway from here on out, otherwise you can build a second ramp for the rail to continue. Limitations As with all such lots, when you switch to subway only passenger traffic can continue through the subway. So either find another route for your freight traffic or perhaps consider using the dedicated URail pieces that come with the NAM. Due to the nature of LODs, i.e. you cannot make them below ground, the rail automata must "collide" with the LODs when entering the ramp. However, upon testing I found I preferred for the trains to enter into the ramp, despite the glitch, as opposed to disappearing at the beginning of the lot. The point being, this is not a bug. Details / Stats Cost to Plop: 2,144 Monthly Cost: 20 Bulldoze Cost: 309 Capacity: 66,000 Otherwise the lots are neutral, causing no pollution, requiring no power/road access and providing no jobs. Support Having problems or Got comments? Then please visit my support/development thread on Simtropolis:
  20. NAM RRW

I recently installed NAM 35. I am trying to figure out where to find the real railway; I'm not even sure if it installed. In what subfolder would I find it? I see a RAM subfolder inside my NAM35 folder under plugins, but that's supposed to be the precursor to RRW. In-game, the rail menu doesn't offer anything labeled as RRW. If I somehow missed RRW during the install, is there a way to add it without repeating the whole installation?

  22. Version 1.0.0

Hi all. I present you SM2 Central Train Station. A while ago I made a promise to someone. The remake of a famous SC4 station originally designed with standard Maxis rails. I promised that I would re-do this wonderfull station with RRW in mind and now it is a reality. With a few additions of course It now boasts a bus terminal, a taxi drop off lane, rail administration offices, an office tower, a hotel, a railyard and even a train garage for minor repairs. I designed this lot with a triple track format but only the middle track allows trains to cross the lot therefore you must make crossovers between the connecting tracks. The outer ones will connect visually. The 2 front entrances are TE'd for road across both connections and the service street will connect visually. It also acts as a bus stop and provides 740 low wealth jobs, 380 medium wealth jobs or 80 high wealth jobs. To keep things real, I decided to not allow freight trains to cross the lot. You must create a secondary rail line for freight outside the station. This is due to the fact that on the 2 outer tracks in the stations there are some train props and having automata go through them would not look realistic. In line with all my lots, textures are custom made and included in this download. There are tons of timed props exemplars to make the lot more lively, also included. I made 22 new HD props for this lot which is available for download in a separate prop pack that can also be used to create new lots. Station capacity = 62,500 Have fun. Questions? Please post them here. Simmer2. PS. 23. Version 1.0.0

Hello everyone and thank you for downloading my lot/s. This time I created a much needed freight yard more suited for farming regions. It could also be placed in any industrial settings if you wish. SM2 cnut Grain Shipping. Just like its namesake, it is a grain shipping facility. Farmers bring their grains, (wheat, barley, corn, oats and so on), on trucks which are then weighted on drive on scales. Grains are then vacuumed from the open trucks and are sorted and stored in their appropriate silos. Grains are then pumped into specially made train cars and shipped to mills where they are turned into flour, corn starch, cereals etc. This lot will also allow passenger trains to go through it so you will see both type of trains traverse it. Lot size 14X10 Capacity 30,200 tons. Jobs 38 It will required water and power to run. As usual, textures are custom made and included, I also made 3 new props for this lot and they are included as well. Have fun and if you want to see more pics and/or follow my progress on new lots, come and see me at http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=17211.540 Thank you cnut for making such beautiful models. 24. 3 & 4 Track Rail Lines

    Version 1.0.2

Have you ever wanted to build a 3 or 4 track rail line? Well now you can! By recent request I'm releasing these lots as seen in the CJ. Using these modular 1x1 lots(and one 1x2 lot) you can create a 3 or 4 track rail line of variable length. Unfortunately since these are lots they are not functional, we'll all have to wait a little while longer and hope the RRW/NAM team develops such a mod. The end pieces are however TE-enabled so it will tie in with rail lines properly. Originally I had also create a single track rail line using 1x1 modular lots but that file has been rendered obsolete by the STR mod(now part of the NAM). The mod is RRW and terrain mod compatible, both the rail line and base textures will change if you have the relevant mods installed as can be seen in the preview images above. There are 7 lots in total which can be found together near the bottom of the rail menu. The dependency below must be must be installed or you'll only get a blank grass lot. Dependencies: http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2177 Additional Dependency for RRW users only: http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=3350
