  1. MGB - Diagonal Filler Set

    Everybody needs some diagonal fillers, right? As usual everyone has their own ideas and ways of going about such things, so here is my personal "basic" set uploaded for others to make use of. Features: - All sidewalks will adapt to your Sidewalk Mod, so they will work with them all (Super light asphalt shown)*. - Maxis trees used will be replaced if you have a tree replacement mod. - Maxis Streetlight will show your streetlights if you have a Maxis Streetlight replacement mod. Dependencies: The only dependency is SFBT Essentials, however you only need one file from this set, SFBT_ArkenbergeJoe_Texturen.dat. If you are downloading these fillers for use with my TGN mod, then you do not need SFBT essentials, the file "Diag Filler Override" contains more compatible versions already. If you use MAS71's walls, or install the file MAS71_GuideArrows_v100.dat from this set, you will see helper pieces to assist with orientation when plopping. *Note: These fillers require a texture replacement mod that replaces the default Maxis LE textures with your sidewalk, otherwise they will show the default Maxis textures, i.e. white. In case your sidewalk mod doesn't have one yet, it only takes about 5-10 minutes to do, I've uploaded a tutorial here which novices should be able to follow.     Urban School by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- In real life, many schools teach students from Kindergarten all the way through to the end of Senior School, and, in this ghastly era of economic rationalism where every public institution must return a profit to justify its existence, many are also forced to host more lucrative adult evening classes. Having schools in SC4 that cater for Elementary through to High School is nothing new (for example see my Bourke St Public School: Bourke St Public School), but combining junior, senior and adult education in the one campus hasn't been done before (to my knowledge). The Urban School combines all three functions. It is crucial to note that this school is not designed or modded to be a radical lot. If you want a radical lot that increases education levels with no cost and taking up no space, then this is not for you. Placing this lot merely emulates all three functions of the Maxis Large Elementary School, the Maxis Large High School and the Maxis City College in terms of Capacity, Radius, Cost and School Effectiveness vs Average Age categories; using the upper limits of each school type to create a single multi-purpose institution. It houses up to 14,500 students and has a very large coverage radius. EQ Boost and Population vs Distance stats are the same as the standard Maxis schools. The Bat itself is fictional, and is based on any number of more modern educational institutions. The central entrance area houses adminsitration, cafeteria, gymnasium/indoor courts & auditorium; the junior school is housed in the smaller wing, and the senior school laboratories and workshops in the larger wing. The adult college uses the senior wing after 5pm once all of the students and day teachers have gone home. This is a large building and lot, weighing in at 8x8 tiles (a bit over 4 acres in the old parlance) and has ample room for a soccer pitch, grassed relaxation areas and the typical asphalt surfaces where countless kids can graze their elbows and knees when falling over. It provides 390 teaching jobs. Visually, the lot is best placed on a corner, following the contour of the front driveway area. Like all my Bats, I have thoroughly tested this concept in both a Vanilla game and a full (4+GB) plugins for over 500 Sim Years in each and haven't observed any abnormal occurrences.     TG Krio Diagonals is a pack of my old diagonals, created in 2006-2007. Bats are based on building styles in Helsinki, but because they are like 10 years old they aren't as good as my later work and some of the textures seems to be missing. Anyways, these were modded by RippleJet of BSC.   5. Modern Sound Barriers

    Modern Sound Barriers, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- A set of nine sound barrier lots to grace your ground-level highways, heavy rail (etc): really, these can be placed anywhere you think noise from adjacent transport lots might be an issue for your long-suffering sims. While there are other noise barrier lots out there, I found that some were simply too big, some were too grungy, some didn't have diagonal options and there was a distinct lack of modern-looking barriers, so I made some to suit my own taste. These sound barriers are a modern concrete, steel and glass option. The lots have Orthogonal, Diagonal, Orthogonal to Diagonal and Left and Right Overhanging options. The Ortho->Diag options can be a bit fiddly to place, but you'll soon get the hang of it and to that end each lot has a custom icon to try and make the job a little easier (the standard ortho and diagonals simply have a grey line icon, while the more complex ones have a little picture as well). As a general rule, you should aim to place these lots with the curved glass top facing towards the noise (this has a cupping effect to dampen the noise beyond the wall). They are found in the parks menu - about half way down. Now, depending on your plugins folder they may not be sequential (i.e. other park lots might appear in between) but they will be very closely positioned to each other in the menu. As I made these for myself and designed them to be high-end, nice looking sound walls, they do have a park effect (and associated monthly cost), so if you are trying to keep your city looking grungy, don't use these. While some of you may think that this is very un-realistic, please be mindful that you would only see these sorts of walls bordering nicer residential/commercial/industrial areas in real life, so these lots are designed to stimulate medium to high wealth growth rather than simply being neutral...unfortunately this is the way the game works and to my mind, when modding something with an in-built desirability, it should come with an associated cost. All the lots have been made transparent (and do not suffer the water bug) so that they will blend in with your terrain. --------------------------------------- STATS: Lot size : 1x1 - 1x2 Plop Cost: §40 Occupant Groups: Medium Wealth Park; Civic Park Effect: +15 over 15 tiles Landmark Effect: +20 over 10 tiles Pollution: Air (-)2 over 2 tiles, Water 1 over 1 tiles, Garbage 0 over 0 tiles Power consumed: 0 MwH Water consumed: 5 Gallons/Month Monthly Cost: §5 Bulldoze Cost: §10 --------------------------------------- NOTE ABOUT DARK NITE vs MAXIS NITE: I've never seen a highway wall self illuminate, so there is only one model file: the day version. --------------------------------------- DEPENDENCIES: This file does not require external dependencies. --------------------------------------- To install, simply unzip the contents of this file into your plugins folder.   6. Lake Pointless - Number 2

    Hi there! It has been a long time since my last post. Events in real life, the state of the world and of the political situation developing in my own country and elsewhere have made games seem a little pointless to me. I have been checking in to the site quite frequently and although I post rarely, i really value the community here, so I would like to dedicate this post to all of you reading (and those not reading). However, I do want to give a couple of special shoutouts for people who have really helped inspire / create some superb content to this wonderful game: RSC/MGB204. All the texture unification work is incredible, but what really counts are the really detailed replies to my (and many other people's) questions in all the forums, I could not have got all these Japanese overpasses and whatnot working without your wonderful tutorial on installing them. LnX - just for mindboggleingly consistent uploads that I try to copy (badly - please see images below). Finally Fasan, who may be gone, but the pictures that remain on SC4D are for my personal preferences, the best pictures ever created using the medium of Simcity 4. Enough about me, here are some pictures: This is an overview of the city on the shores of Lake Pointless. Last Entry covered the suburban area to the right of this image and the fields beyond. This time we are looking at the northern end of the lake and the town around it in more detail. Ok, it's a highway interchange, but it was a slightly unusual one, so here is a picture Simcity 4 doesn't have many aggressive youths, but those that have a bit too much aggression can run like crazy on these football pitches, which should keep them out of mischief. There is some need for a fence to stop the ball going into the busy road, but times are tight! First 'flipped' image. I really like the totally different feel you get from doing this to a picture. A railway, some retaining walls overview of the area more flipping. Here in the suburbs the other side of the highway. suburbs giving way to industry crossing the bridge now onto the other bank of the river I wanted to try something a bit clever, and i'm not sure it has been wholly successful, but here is a combination of game water and MMP water, and lots of retaining walls. I guess the MMP side will improve with practice. A jumbled little neighbourhood of mainly working class homes. railway crossing. I really enjoythe reskinned japanese overpasses. This is not the most spectacular use of them! A local school surrounded by suburbia. Looks washed out because i forgot to change the contrast Old mills on the edge of town by the lake shore Now we get into the proper city centre. Trying to keep the shapes interesting! I know there is quite a mix of building styles but diagonals are really hard to find! close to the station are some very grand buildings wider overview of the city centre The Cricket ground (Americans and other Europeans, if you don't know what this is ask an Indian/Pakistani/Sri Lankan//English/Australian etc.) the library, the station and then the waterfront in mosaic. Different perspective. I love the distinctive library BAT in the middle. Now back across the river to finish off the rest of the city centre. I dont know why I couldn't make the water look nice here with MMPs, but once I had built everything was too scared to take serious remedial action in order to spruce up the water! closeup of the same area. why not stop for a coffee (or Tea if that way inclined) in the waterfront coffee shop. Altogether this pack contains 15 new lots based on @T Wrecks' IRM Fillers (I-D, I-M, I-HT), each set gets 5 new pieces (2 full concrate - one with grass props, one without them -, 2 sidewalk-concrete - same variation like concrete version - and a dirt-concrete).     This is my entry for the Content Creation Competition. A 1x1 ploppable triangle lot for diagonal corner filling. I got my inspiration from Prepo's Triangle Parks, but I wanted to do something different. Something more industrial and grimy. This is a functional landmark with 14 I-M jobs. The pollution is low so this can used in the city centres. I have made a custom foundation, so it can be used with slopes. This does not float on the air like Prepoäs lots. Also both Dark Night and Maxis Night versions are included. However it does not have nightlights. These seem not to be working with overhanging props and I don't know any workaround for that. DEPENDENCIES: None. (However if you use my Clerkenwell Library FAR version, you can delete file InvisibleLibrary-0x5ad0e817_0xc40b002e_0x30000.SC4Model This is a duplicate and the same file is used in both FAR Clerkenwell Library and Vic Shoppe Lots)

It's pretty obvious, but you should only install one set based on your current driving side. If you don't, the exemplars will conflict and you will end up with LHD lots.   13. Norfax, Tyson's Corner, Durham, and Lafayette.

    Today I'm showing the construction of two new developments: Norfax and Tyson's Corner, as well as the towns of Durham and Lafayette. Norfax is a 1970s condo development located west of Alexandria between I-85 and the Halifax River. It has 13,651 units in the entire complex, plus shops, restaurants, gyms, pools, and other community facilities. Here's some pictures of the construction. Building Tyson's Corner was both fun and difficult, since I built it on a diagonal grid. Durham is a town of 20,000 people. It was founded in 1693 by farmers, was established as a city in 1808, and has rapidly suburbanized since World War II. Historic Downtown Durham: When the railroad was brought into Durham, rather than going around the hill, the builders chose just to cut a trench. And finally, Lafayette. This far-flung suburb was built up around the old Boston Central Railway. Its streets are anything but grid-like, and its small-town feel appeals to those who want a country feel. Lafayette Station, built in 1907. That's it for this post. Next I'll be showing the suburbs of Seneca, Halifax, and Charlestown.

    This is a set of power pole models that will be used in Texas Steel-V Tower and Wood H-Frame power line set releases. A variety of rotations are included, and there are also numerous different types of models included for dead-ends and angles. Some of them are flat on the ground for construction. There are also banners with triangular plastic flags that are sometimes used to mark rights of way prior to construction but they can be used just to get attention, too. In addition, there are supplemental poles that can be used alone or to enhance the appearance of the Wood H-Frame poles, since these types of models don’t always show up well at more distant zooms. This is itself a dependency pack and needs no dependencies.

    This is a set of unwired power poles based on the Wood H-Frame 138 kV single-circuit design, which is found pretty much everywhere in the U.S. It is a staple of rural landscapes far and wide, and is used for a number of different voltages, though it is nominally 138 kV for this set. In SC4, this is a set of 84 eye-candy pylons. Don't worry; there are MMLs. It includes “tangent” poles in the following rotations: orthogonal (straight along the grid), diagonal (diagonally along the grid), fractional angle 3 (FA3, or a rise of three tiles over a run of one), and fractional angle 2 (FA2, or a rise of two tiles over a run of one). It also includes “s-curve” poles, which enable the lines to temporarily slide over by a small amount (typically one or two tiles) without changing overall direction. Furthermore, the set includes “angle” poles, which enable the lines to change from one of the aforementioned rotations (orthogonal, diagonal, FA3, or FA2) to another. There are "dead-end" poles, which are useful for the starts/ends of lines. There are also supplemental pole props which are placed on the lots to enhance the poles’ visibility at more distant zooms. Dependencies: MTO P3 Models Vol. 1. is necessary because all of the models for this power line set are included in that pack. Additionally, I would recommend at least the latest NAM if you’re going to use the fractional angle poles, as it is the NAM which contains fractional angle roads.

    This is a set of unwired power poles based on the Texas Steel V-Tower 345 kV double-circuit design, which is found in the U.S. state of Texas as the name implies (and as far as I know, nowhere else!). It is one of the state’s most common pylon styles. In SC4, this is a set of 120 eye-candy pylons. Don't worry; there are MMLs. It includes “tangent” poles in the following rotations: orthogonal (straight along the grid), diagonal (diagonally along the grid), fractional angle 3 (FA3, or a rise of three tiles over a run of one), and fractional angle 2 (FA2, or a rise of two tiles over a run of one). It also includes “s-curve” poles, which enable the lines to temporarily slide over by a small amount (typically one or two tiles) without changing overall direction. Furthermore, the set includes “angle” poles, which enable the lines to change from one of the aforementioned rotations (orthogonal, diagonal, FA3, or FA2) to another. There are also "dead-end" poles, which are useful for the starts/ends of lines. Dependencies: MTO P3 Models Vol. 1 is necessary because all of the models for this power line set are included in that pack. Additionally, I would recommend at least the latest NAM if you’re going to use the fractional angle poles, as it is the NAM which contains fractional angle roads.

    A huge thanks to @SimGoober and Callagrafx for releasing their resources for the canals, without which these pieces would not have been possible. I also need to give a shout out to @mattb325, who gave me six of the model files, saving a lot of additional work re-making them once more. Included in this download are eight new lots. A base diagonal piece, diagonal top or CAP piece, along with six transitions from Ortho to the Diagonal canals. You will find these lots just after the original CAL canal pieces, in the parks menu. They are modded and lotted to match the original set. It's imperative that you have the original Base Set by CAL, along with any cascading dependencies installed for these to function correctly.     With some changes this BAT has been influenced by the functionalist apartament building designed by the architect Juliusz Żórawski and built in Warsaw between the 1936 and 1937, next to the Przyjaciół Avenue (eng. ~"Avenue of Friends"). Plugin consists of parallel and diagonal version of the building. Models are also available in game as: - PLOP - CS$$ - parallel and diagonal - GROW - CS$$5, R$$$5 - parallel form only All lots offer 100 working places or place for 75 residents. Parallel model has 4 types (3 colors) of the facade - original one is the yellow sandstone. DEPENDENCIES: There is one, but optional. If you want to see cars parked at the back of the lot, you need to install "MS Motokloss 60s-70s Car Props" from this set: http://community.sim...-set-car-props/ However lots should works good also without it (no brown boxes etc.), so it is not mandatory.

    KOSC presents: SuperParking Modular Parking – Expansion 1: Diagonal Set Introduction This is the 1st expansion pack of my SuperParking modular parking series, which is aimed towards creating even more realistic and crazy parking derivatives from the original SHK Parking Pack. This set covers diagonals - largely uncharted territory - by adding a plethora of new parking options for your cities including the ability to create fully-diagonal oriented parking lots. As if that wasn't enough, there's a wealth of different orthogonal transitions and connector pieces to combine with the base set for even more ridiculous combinations. Package Overview There are two different packages available for download: one for Right-hand Drive and Left-hand Drive. Choose one. The set contains a set of 50 lots. There are 3 functional “parking garage” pieces, with Transit Enabled connections which are located in the Misc Transportation menu, and 47 cosmetic pieces located near the top of the Parks menu. All of the menus are grouped and color coded according to the specific type of parking, including A, B, and Joiner categories. For users that prefer less clutter, there's DAMN Support for these! General Stats Entrances Plop Cost: $250 Capacity: 1,000 Cosmetic Pieces Plop Cost: $0 - $6* *The minor plop cost introduced here was to allow for cleaner organization of menu items, so that like groups are kept together. The detailing on these lots were kept minimal, as to ensure that MMPs can be used on them liberally.   23. Hello simheads, I am building an interchange and can't find a way to make level 0 MIS lane to get a transition to level 1 MIS diagonally ( as shown in picture attached). Is there any way to do it ( like a diagonal transition L0 to L1 )? I have NAM up to date latest version 34 (Dec 2015) running. I've seen the wonders people do with this version, so I am hopefull there is a solution to my issue. Thank you everyone in advance for helping out.
