    A warning to people before REMOVING this mod:    Removing this mod will cause traffic inconsistency BETWEEN cities you have built while having this mod activated. Neighbouring cities will act as if you still have this mod installed, sending double the traffic to your industrial cities even though the number of industrial jobs have reduced by 50%. Deleting all industrial and letting it regrow does fix the problem.     Not complaining about the mod, its a great mod and does what it promises, I just wanted to give out this warning to people because this bug forced me to delete a region I had been working on for many many hours.

    Dont think there is any login issue with LEX, there are two different registrations one for sc4devotion and one for the LEX. If it still dosnt work try a different browser.

    try dragging the side streets all the way across the avenue so the sims dont have to drive all the way to the end of the avenue to cross the street since you have no demand for jobs its a transportation problem. Also you should follow jasons advice and download NAM(Traffic fix mod), even if you want to keep the game as "vanilla" as possible. edit: Do you have any neighbouring cities? try removing all road connections out of the city and see what happends .
  4. What is "long commute time"?

    You say that you have workplace nearby but do you have work for high wealth §§§ sims? Keep in mind that even high wealth commercial offices only employ about 15% high wealth sims, rest is mid and low wealth. Also hows the demand looking? Try zoning for some more commercial and the sims will probably move back in.

    Yes, each wealth class has its own stage progression, and its based on your regional population. First step to getting lots of mid wealth citizens is to get a good educational system which in turn will generate demand for mid and high wealth jobs.

Hello I had some problems getting sims to use my newly built train stations between cities so I did some testing and found that there seem to be a problem with the pathfinding between cities, Ill show you what I mean: So in this first pic its just a small city with about 600 sims and its only connection is to an industrial town to the east(picture #2). Noone is using my new road? Your probably thinking this is because there is no need for them to use my new road with only 180 commuters and no congestion and switching to the new road would not lower their commute time so why bother right? However this does not seem to be the case. Let me show you: I added a bit of street to my old road to increase the commute time, now, surely the sims must be smart enough to use the new road? http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=jpafqf&s=6 As you can see the commute time has gone from 0.4 minutes to over 6, yet the sims are still refusing to use my new road! http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=dy8xf5&s=6 Yes the querry tool shows 4 sims using my new road but this is due to a few more people moving in to my city(new residens does not seem to be affected by this bug) Now the only way for me to get the sims to use the new road and to lower the overall commute time is to either delete the old, very long road connection or to connect my new road to the old one. http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=w9v8zo&s=6 http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2i07vd5&s=6 As you see the commute time drops as expected. So the problem is that the simulator does not want to change an existent connection, regardless of how much faster(commute time wize) a new connection would be. Now as I said, new citizens will not be affected by this bug so if i were to zone for more residential the new ones would use the new, shorter road connection. Also this bug only exsists between cities and not in them, ie if I had the industrial zone in my residential city I would not have this problem, the sims would always chose the fastest path. So I created this thread just to rant about NAMS pathfinding? No, I love NAM. This thread was created to address the problem(Thought im pretty sure im not the first one to notice this) and also for people who dont understand why sims arnt using the newly built train stations or highways in their cities, and also to provide a solution(by deleting the old connection).

    Thank you for the answer! I got the TSCT working by installing java, so no problems there. I noticed in this tool, that there is a window for controlling the ratio of different transportation types for each wealth class(§, §§ and §§§). Since Im using the medium(american) preset, the way low wealth sims§ travel is set to 50% mass transit and 50% car. Now, the majority of the sims in the city in the pictures i provided is working Dirty Industry in a different city to the south, and pretty much all of them get there by mass transit(subway). Since the simulator is set to have 50% of sims use mass transit and the other 50% use cars, could this be the reason im not seeing much bus uses in my city? Simply that I need more people going to work by car for the simulator to start using mass transit(bus) again? Hope this makes sense. I understand you said I need more bus stops to increase bus usage, I tried planting more of them and it didnt really seem to make any difference. BTW, are the red(congested) spots right before the intersections on my pictures anything to worry about? Is it bad enough to change the intersection to a roundabout?

    Thank you all for the replies. Im startin to understand this mod more and more, I guess the reason for the lack of busses is because NAM makes the game more realistic by increasing the car to bus ratio. Also, i installed the Traffic Simulator Configuration Tool but I cant get it to start up. When i doubble click the shortcut on my desktop a black window appears for 0.5 seconds then dissapears and nothing else happends. Is is not compatible with the steam version of sim city 4? edit: nvm I it was a java problem

    Downloaded and installed the hotfix and let the city run for a year, still same issue with buses though.
  10. Zone Demand Chart Explanation?

    From what i understand you have alot of dirty industry buildings up and running which need more workers(low wealth§ sims) but not many sims in your city that wants to build new DI buildings. If your dirty industry demand(the yellow bar) would've been high, it would mean you have alot of sims in your city(entrepreneurs) that wants to start up new dirty industry building but they have no space to do so(unoccupied industrial zoning). Once you zone medium/high industry these new DI buildings would in turn generate a demand for low wealth§ sims(workers) and so the cycle continues.
  11. Hello I started playing Sim City 4 a few weeks ago and I've mostly been playing around with the simulator trying to understand how it works. When i learned the pathing was bugged in the original game i decided to download NAM and so I did but now I've got a few things i cannot figure out. The city consists of only low wealth sims and commercial jobs, I have all the dirty industry in a city next to it. The two cities are connected with avenue and underground tram. Before i installed NAM i had almost exclusively bus traffic in this city, but after i seems to be getting barley any bus rides at all, why is this? Also, will the congestion get better if my sims start taking buses instead of cars to their commerical jobs? Because from what I've understood buses dont work the same way in NAM as in the original, but im having a very hard time finding any information about the changes. Is there a site for the changes NAM does to traffic? Since it was unchecked by default, I let it be and did not install the component. Could anyone explain what it was?
