  1. Guillaume, any word if we're able to have bridges in the city? and not just in region view?
  2. I dug the video. I love SC4 been playing it for years and while this game isn't like SC4 at all, I don't understand how it doesn't look fun to some of you. The graphics a lone have me excited, even though they carry a slightly "Pixar" feel to them it still looks great. Let alone how fun the new gameplay looks. I also was content with the question in regards to terraforming. I like that you have to "solve the puzzle" of your cities landscape. On another subject maybe I am off here but I do think the eventual goal is to merge Simcity with The Sims. Which honestly could be really cool as long as they give you the choice to play as Simcity, The Sims, or both all together. Also, as long as they build off of the foundation that's SC5 by adding more options (subway, highway) rather than take away.
  3. Can somebody link me to anything that details the "great works" aspect?
  4. I think this game looks awesome, it's nothing like SC4 and quite frankly I could care less. This looks like a fun new experience and I can't wait to get my hands on it Edit: I would love for this game to have as many features as SC4 but it wont. I'm still super impressed with how good it looks and all the data layering and filters. Once again, cannot wait!
  5. I'm getting tired of SC2013 fans who just dismiss the general community's concerns with "it's good enough for me". I'm not saying you can't have your own preferences, but dismissing other's arguments by simply arguing that "it's good enough for me, so it should be good enough for you" isn't proving your point. Maybe I'm misinterpreting your post, and if I am I apologize, but that's the vibe I got from it. And you totally are. Look i've read there is a single player mode, its outline is good enough for myself, and as long as I can play it alone I still consider it single player. However, to say there isn't a single player component at all is misinformation. He's simply irritated that other people's cities will effect his experience while that's a bummer for him it doesn't mean you have to rely on others to play your game at all. I also understand his gripe, he's irritated that you may have to do some sort of group function to unlock something. I would prefer this not be the case but because everyone effects the global market, and some items may only be available if you communicate with another town, I wouldn't say the game doesn't have single player component.
  6. There is NO single player - there is 'solo mode' where you can play a region on your own but it restricts your game play. You can't create great works you need the cooperation of other players and your cities will still be influenced by other players cities and you need to be online to play solo mode. All confirmed by Maxis. A single player mode is where you can play offline and your cities won't be affected by other players and you have full control over the game. There will be NO modding on release, Maxis said there might be down the line, but since this game is server based online only, it's doubtful. No misinformation at all. If you like the game buy it, I won't for reasons I have mentioned on here before. Modding has been CONFIRMED! Yes, not at release, just like SC4 but modding has been confirmed by Maxis. Look the solo play is good enough for me, so when you say there is no single player, you mean it's not the single player you want. So yes, in my book misinformation Not to mention I had those same members in chat saying the beta was "confirmed" active and then proceeded to try and make me feel dumb when I questioned the validity of it being active, which it clearly is not. Whats that? Oh Misinformation.
  7. Honestly I just wish the people who don't like this game would at least get the facts straight before they rant on the message boards. The most annoying thing is the ignorance, people are still declaring there's no modding, single player, and other misinformation. I went into chat the other day talking about the new SC and I had at least 4 of 5 people talking trying to ruin my excitement for the game. Not just expressing their dislike, but actually trying to persuade me not to like it and or buy it. I was disgusted that individuals who don't know me at all, think they know what's best for me. I just couldn't believe the nerve of them.
  8. I still can't wait to play this game. If I would of taken every review of film I've heard over the years I surely would have missed out on many great movies.
  9. That's actually what Will Wright initially envisioned the SimCity series to be, a huge virtual 'city' filled with Sims. I think that's the direction they're trying to take the game in, if of course this game does well and they make sequels. It's a neat concept, but if I wanted to create my own virtual people, I'd play the Sims. I really hope Maxis leaves that stuff out of the remade SimCity series (if there are sequels). I think the idea initially sounds awesome. If they could merge the two games, or make them compatible without losing any more options than we already have or maybe gaining some back (SC4) I think as long as they gave you the option to play both or just one aspect (city building vs a sim) it would be pretty fun and interesting.
  10. Something tells me the long term goal here it too make SC and The Sims one game? Id rather just have Simcity.
  11. We really don't think in terms of "tiles" anymore, so I can't give you a good size analogy. The lollipop bus stops occupy "street lots", that is, they don't take up the space a house could use, but instead are in front of buildings. It's something that had always bothered me in previous SCs... At the moment, they only go in the middle of avenues w/ light rail tracks or own their own light rail tracks, not on roads; thanks for the suggestion though. Awesome to see you on here addressing some of our questions. Do you think there will be DLC with more transit option in the future? Thank you for your time!
  12. Someone has been telling me the Beta went active? Is this true? Not that I don't necessarily believe it. I signed up the first hour you could, and I havent heard nothing about it? I'm just bummed cause I didn't get picked Maybe I missed the posts on here of people who got picked?
  13. There isn't anything left to show? Seriously? You really think they've shown off the entire game? Everyone's who played the demo said so many items were unavailable for use. Some demo reviews even revealed features none of us knew. How many games were completely revealed 5 months out of the game release? We haven't even seen final graphics. Everything gets discounted at or pre-release these days. Even some console games are $10 off at release and the entire week of sometimes. For instance I went two buy to new release albums yesterday and both we're being sold for $8.00 the week of release. Does that mean the album isn't good? Of course not they could be albums of the year, they just want to move units. Every way they can combat piracy and still make money they will do.
  14. Yes, we really need a Call of Duty 35 with upgraded graphics and a couple new maps and weapons that's otherwise exactly the same as last year's title, only it costs $50 with another $50 or so in expansions. That really is a lot better than trying to make a new game entirely... Your obviously not understanding me, Call Of Duty does not change its graphics it has used the same graphics since Modern Warfare 1 on the other hand Battlefield 3 kept the exact same design and maps as the other battlefields but simply re-build the engine and now its classed as the most played and successful first person shooter, if simcity kept the exact same concept and as simcity regarding things like trains, planes etc and added to it slightly the modding community has then just re-created the engine which they have then it would be perfect but they are not doing so and instead completely re-doing the game. Read before you post. -_- Just browsing your snarky comment. I see that you say the Graphics are the same since the original Modern Warfare. This is simply not true. While maybe using the same engine MW2 had much more sharper and detailed graphics hence the fact they had to render/update the MW1 maps to be used in MW2. The Engines ARE exactly the same the only difference is the Contrast and Clarity have just been made broader... Implying that graphics ARE exactly the same just rendered differently, So why wouldn't a Simcity with a new graphics engine and all the old buildings, transit features + new buildings and features be a better game? The new simcity is just re-creating itself in a cartoony way and yet when you see what the new engine can produce its stupid, I'm guessing you have seen French Nice city video with a tram simulator built in? You know what? I really don't care. I'm going to play SimCity (2013) when it comes out and if I love it, than awesome. If I don't then guess what? Life goes on! It's a crazy premise I know. It was tough for me to swallow at first. However, what I won't be doing is sitting on a message board complaining about about a game i'm never going to have, in your case a new SC game based off of SC4.
