1. I set all settings to the lowest quality, turned off all clouds and other stuff, and still get the CTD. I get the CTD even when paused, depending on what I build. Well, since I haven't been able to build a single road I haven't builded anything that's worth saving yet, so no cities are lost I did that, but alas, I still got the CTD when I place certain buildings. I stopped all programs on the background, but it didn't help. I didn't alt-tab. It's pretty strange. As long as I don't build the mentioned buildings, I can play and everything runs smooth. But as soon as I build for example a road, I immediately get a CTD, no matter the game speed, the game resolution, the graphics settings, running in software mode or hardware, or the amount of programs run on the background. The installation of both my Windows and Simcity are fresh. I even tried to reinstall SC4: before I applied the patches, I had a look ingame, and had a CTD when building a road. Then I applied the first patch, had a look ingame and had a CTD when I builded a road. And then I applied the second patch, looked ingame and had a CTD when I builded a road. I am mystified by this problem .
 2. Hi, I'm having a problem too. Two weeks ago my motherboard died, so I was forced to buy a new one (along with a new processor, cooler and ram... but I don't have enough money at the moment to get a new videocard, so I'm using my old one), and now I can't run simciy 4 deluxe anymore. My system:
processor: Intel I5-3450 motherboard: Asrock B75 Pro-M ram: 61 GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 videocard: ATI radeon X1950 XTX OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits
I have a fresh SC4 install with no mods (to ensure those are not the problem). I have succesfully applied both patches, and the updated files have the right size. I start SC4 with the following line in my shortcut:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe\Apps\SimCity 4.exe" -intro:off -CustomResolution:enabled -r1920x1080x32 -w -CPUcount:1
The problem: When I start a new city and build some buildings, for example a road, I get a crash to desktop. I can build for example a windmill with no problems tough. Here is a list with buildings that I tested:
These can be placed with no problems: Terrain: Place all kinds of trees, Place/remove all kinds of signs RCI: I can zone all as long as I don't allow roads to be zoned along (so I must zone small or hold the ctrl) Roads: Street Highways: Elevated, T-Crossing (Ground), onramp (ground) Trains: Rail, Passenger Station, Freight Station, Monorail Station Bus: Bus Stop, Elevated Rail, Elevated Rail Station, Subway, Subway Station, Parking Garage, Tol booth Airport: none! Harbor: Passenger Ferry, Car Ferry Energy: Power Line, Windmill, Gas, Oil Water: Pipes, Water Tower, Water Pump Garbage: Recycle Center Police: Kiosk, Small Station, Jail Fire: Large Education: Elementary School, Library, Highschool, College Medical: Clinic (I didn't feel like testing all the landmarks and parks)
I can let the game run on cheetah speed without problems with just these buildings.
These give immediately a crash to desktop: Landscape: raise terrain, lower terrain, smooth terrain RCI: As soon as some roads are in the zoning zone, I get a CTD Roads: Road, One-way road, Avenue Highways: Ground level, Cloverfield (both), T-Crossing (Elevated), onramp (elevated) Rail: Monorail Bus: Elevated to subway Airport: landing strip, municipal airport, international airport Harbor: Harbor Energy: Coal Water: Purification Garbage: Landfill, Waste to energy Police: Large Station Fire: Small Education: Museum Medical: Large (I didn't feel like testing all the landmarks and parks)
If I somehow manage to get one of these builded, I get a CTD once I unpause the game. I managed to buikd a small village with the buildings that didn't cause a CTD and let it run for 10 years. But then I exxpanded the street, and got immediately a CTD... Here is my crash report:
Exception time: 10/18/2012, at 00:59:34. Exception code: 0xC0000005 (-1073741819) ACCESS_VIOLATION. Current thread ID: 6684 (0x00001a1c).
