I wouldn't have said they ignored us, they clarified the issue of terrain editing and the enforced green space and as such this is sadly what I thought it was, a glorified town simulator. It's made all the more worse by how much potential Glassbox has.

I am of the considered view was expressed that a lot added to the current edition of the same game Sim City 2003 Rush Hour

For example, the date of military armed fighting in the cities named in a new state of war add to the game will increase the number of players over 10 million players

I'm so disappointed of what I've just read... This is not SimCity anymore...

but it appears that Maxis has completely ignored us- once again. Not much new information this time round though, there's no telling if there's going to be a part 3.

I don't need to hear your thoughts; just give me the information!

Well, there goes simcity 2013 from my list of games I want for 2013. Also Frontenac, you are absoulty right by saying this is not simcity anymore, it's just some horrible attempt at another simcity title.

I do consider this still Simcity. I am terribly dissapointed that they will not expand with what they didi with SC4 with the region and terraforming.

Terrible terrible mistakes. And still no wall to wall.

I am going to wait untill it is released on Steam during one of their sales. That's how I got Cities in Motion and Cities XL.

To protest, we should all buy SC4 the day of the release. Out sell Simcity (2013). Hopefully with all that money they might grow a brain and develop Simcity 5.

I could live with online play, but not having the ability to control neighboor connections realy killed me inside.

I think the major flaw of this game is the designed this backwards which took out a lot of our most wanted features. They started designing this based on region (online) play and then worked there way to design the cities. Instead they should have started with making a wonderful city planning/designing game and then focused on how it could have regional play.

I don't like anything I just read in that Q&A. Maps no larger than a medium SC4 map... so no big cities. Cities won't touch each other, so no fake looking (side by side) big cities, no terraforming, and it is just starting to look like a bigger version of Sim City Societies... which no one liked.

All of you saying we have to wait and see when it comes out because this could be an awesome game... well your optimism is splendid... but even if it's an awesome game... it's not a sim city game anymore... it's a sim game. They are really doing everything in their power to not include some of the most asked for features and things that made SC4 actually sell and long lasting. But the people that think it looks good already are the same types that think Sim City Societies looked awesome before it was released. Taking way too many happy pills.

I'm upset at the lack of focus on this game. The lack of understanding what a sim city game has always been. It's not about making small towns and interacting with other small towns, it's about creating your own city, and hopefully reaching metropolis status. Instead of using all the game and graphic resources on making these regions, it should have been one city with suburbs (that the user controls, or chooses to have the computer control) and being able to work with those cities to seamlessly connect and work with. Having a small space to make your own little town and relying on others to make the region work, it's just not sim city to me. This is another type of game now. Cities XL is more of a sim city game than what I am seeing so far.

Also they are dodging the real fan questions like wildfire. Confront the criticism head on and make us feel better by answering some of the hard questions. I want more answers as to WHY the parts of the game missing, or WHY you chose not to allow single player one city mode.

Most people in here would say their dream city would be a large map area that they can terraform, they implement industry such as faming (is the ground allows) or fishing, or mining, ect., the game has a lot of options on way to grow so that cities could be different each time you play, and then you build your city up into the city you imagined. Along with having the option to mod and add structures you build or find.

Unfortunately this game looks like you have very little control on the outcome of what your cite becomes. It's either industrial, high tech or maybe something else. Just like Sim City Societies was, which bored me within a couple hours and I stopped playing. The key to long lasting gameplay is creating a different experience every time the user plays... which modding helped so much with. There will be no madding in this game apparently... which will ruin the future of this already lack-luster looking game.

Okay... so they want to simplify the game. They have streamlined the game for those who are lost. But there should be no simplification of the game mechanics. Terraforming and regional play that can create a farming or the sprawling connections between cities. The idea of specialist cities is a nice idea, but having them just being these disconnected cities full of skyscrapers is not simplifying the game, it is just taking away a simple concept most people can follow. Taking away terraforming and regional play is not simplifying the game it is being patronizing and withholding a old game mechanic that was not difficult to understand at all.

How do ploppable buildings terraform the land? The same way stadium flattens land in SC4? If you could implement a better way the end result looks like, that's terrific.

I am sure they can make a UI that is streamlined and easy to use, and that is great. Simplifying the game this way is good.

If it is a processing issue, then bump up the recommended specifications. I was shocked at how low they were. Perhaps we have to wait till the 6th edition for bigger city grids and more comprehensive regions.

unlike most of you, im going to just sit back and wait, and see what it's like when it gets here.

a lot of you are just creating a melodrama at the moment.

im waiting of news about other things... like developer support/sequels. they left it idle for a decade, now they are back. this glassbox engine sounds great, but let's see if we get a decent sequel/expansion after the game's release.

just remember noobs, SC4 Vanilla came out first then, the RH expansion gave us what we needed. with no RH, there would be no community now IMO.

Actually I quite enjoyed SC4 vanilla, there was little wrong with what was in it - it just needed a bit more. This new game is completely different because it's missing vast amounts of what we wanted, like rctshack said - this is just a 'sim game' now not simcity. Its clearly designed for 10 year olds who play their tacky "Sims" series, not the people who grew up with Simcity 2000 like me.

True; that was somewhat out of line in the News section.

Besides, TheDinozRule could have communicated the exact same thing by quoting the article:

Yes and EA knows that, I said it before, they are hiding something. I smell a DLC train of fan exploitation!!! We will get Terraforming for 30, we will get traffic network expantion for 40

We will get map packs with bigger maps for 15 and ofc we will get offline play for 35 at the end of the train.

Or I could be wrong and its all gonna be branded SImcity2 1 year later for 85 and this 1st version is a pilot (I hope it is) I mean its not like Battelfield 3 has a succesor planned yet...

OH WAIT!! BF4 beta out already?!

EA while you are at it... do Dungeon Keeper 3 aswell please? and maybe push a little further to Black&White3 since you are spam reviving old titles (Red Alert3, wtf where you thinking with that game?!! and Generals2 is planned, oh lord!)

HopelessEA, only Blizzard remained strong thus far, my only gaming hope

Don't misread me i'll give the game a try, but it just feels like burning money since I will probably stop playing it after a few months. Cities XL seemed nice but that game is so unfished I didnt bother finishing 1 city. AS I see it, the best thing that could happen is the option of BAT in GMAX form where al our old models would be usable. If you do that Maxis i'll insert the fry pic shut up and take my money.

This game sounds just awful. I am surprised that there isn't some enforced facebook log-in so you can invite all your friends to help you build a region of plopped villages.

You reallly think that its the same situation as it was with sc4 vanilla? you craizy? Alot of futures we lost is becouse of the MP , like big city tiles, they arent included in the game becouse of the MP bandwith, and im pritty much sure its the same with teraforoming, everything is set us just to fill out the empty building spots in region notthing more, its the same as playing sc on facebook.

There isnt gona be any miracles in this game as long as its totally tied up with MP

I think I speak for most people when I say I wanted SC4/Rush hour with 3d graphics and some more detailed simulations and information sheets, but nope they give us this garbage and Simtropolis will continue to be a SC4 site through the next 10 years.
