About this City Journal

160617093118632469.jpg

Welcome to the Dahamas region! This large region is naturally divided into two parts by the plain of Dahammas in the north and the mountain range in the south, the Îksars. The territory is covered largely by forests, agricultural land or mountains making unconstructable areas. The region is also well occupied by lakes, respectively, from largest to smallest: lake of Nediah, lake of Dahammas and the lake of Kör. The land is particularly fertile thanks to the lakes, but also by the two main rivers: the river Armoräth and Trüliih.

Nature is an essential thing for the people of the region, the forests have always make parts of the landscape. Just to build a highway that requires shaving a passage in the forest it takes several years to see the project materialize (10 to 15 years on average)! The urbanization of cities is often limited by decrees or laws protecting landscapes and biodiversity, cities tend to range in height as the capital of the region, Dahammas and his half-million inhabitants. Despite that, it is nice to live in the region, the multitude of parks, hobbies and green space stimulates tourism and therefore the economy!

Good visit to the region!

The characteristics of the region are:

- 0 small tile, 84 medium sized tiles and 339 big sized tiles.
- The area of the region and 72 km to 80 km long.
- The map is the reconstruction to scale of the Lucerne region and Zürich in German-speaking Switzerland.

Hello everyone,

It has been about six months since the R.C.D. was stopped because of a backup problem... I am happy to announce the good news that the region is finally resuming! Yes, a few weeks ago when I was not very inspired for the region of Helsakoh, I decided to restart the R.C.D. just for me to remember the work I had done. Out of curiosity, I tried to make backups to see if the backup bug persisted, I was persuaded that the backups would not work and would make a CTD... But to my utter astonishment, no bugs and I can play normally on it...

I do not understand how this is possible, at the time my region had started planting suddenly from day to day without even making a change in the Plugins folder. Since my folder Plugins has changed a lot and there have been new additions, I do not know if I put something in the folder plugins that was missing in the tile of Fanèse like for example a BAT or mod, but now it works... I have been testing for several days to officially confirm that the R.C.D. is working normally.

The R.C.D. that comes back, also want the Helsakoh region to stop with the cooperation of kbieniu7. Helsakoh was for me the replacement of Dahammas because despite the Phoenix Project, I always love to build cities with a minimum of management. I discussed with kbieniu7 whether it's the kind that I abandon Helsakoh, and after discussion he agrees that I take over Dahammas.

I apologize for creating a false hope for Helsakoh, and I apologize again to you kbieniu7.

End of R.C.D.

Hello everyone,

As you have seen in recent days, I have had problems with backups in SC4. The game crashes when I try to saving my area Dahammas. At first I thought that this could come to Windows 7, so I reinstall entirely. But the problem continue to persist, and then imposes harsh reality: the Dahammas region is corrupt. Somewhat in the same kind of Prop Pox, but this is the whole region is affected and not just one tile.

It has become really difficult to play on the region since. Build his city, and see its efforts to annihilate because a backup that works only half the time, this makes the hard work and slows me.. So I took the decision to stop my work on Dahammas my biggest regret...

That was one year I built this region. All are wiped time for a bug! Anyway, things are done ... It's time to do something else now. I thought again a little something in the same genre as Korver. I like to create scenes with the MMP's and create the most realistic scenery. Create scenes that still have an air of central Europe. Some scenes may be a little more "exotic", we'll see...

With Dahammas I learned many techniques one can see the difference in the quality of work between my first city (Dahammas) and the last (Wardruna), and I'm very happy. Also, in recent months I further manipulates the software modding (although it is still very poor). I learned the best I can!

I will make one last update of Fanèse with some photos to show the (small) party built. And soon a new project to replace one of Dahammas I hope.

Here, I think I more or less said it all. I also want to thank you for all your comments I received and advice. See you soon! :SmileNew:

Bummer. And condolences, I know the feeling. At some point I often had that problem when I played on mac. It seems to have disappeared (argh, fingers crossed) since I partitioned and play on Win 8.1 (then again, I do nothing else on that partition, absolutely no other windowseries...). I hope things will improve ; I realize I'm a bit confused, though : it is the whole map or only the Dahammas tiles that have been affected ? (Should be only tiles ?) The beginnings of the new tile are promising ! (I love pict. 5. 7 & 8 : judicious use of MMPs, just enough) and also the comm-Ind zones (the ones with the train !)

Thank you for your comment tariely! The bug infects the entire region, the tiles already built and those that are not.

Sory to see such a great region go ! Simcity 4 as CSKL and other do have there horible nasty bugs. Stable instalation is everything ! Moderate use off data and backup´s are the only saveguards against such disasters. Wish you well with your next project  !

Thank you. Yes, SC4 is known for his epics crashs, this is part of the "game"! :D

Sorry to hear about the issues you're experiencing with your game . You we're off to a great start , so much room for development .  SC4 can be a bit temperamental (part temper , part mental) . But really I believe the problem lies in your plugins folder , like a conflict with some buildings or parks or something more of that nature .

Good luck on your next venture with the game . Not telling you what to do . But I would start all over with the plugins on a completely fresh install . Then add only one or two custom content items at a time and give the game a go . If all is good , then add one or two more . That way , if you experience a problem it makes it a bit easier to narrow down the culprit . Again , I wish you good luck .

I tried to see if it came from my Plugins, and it does not seem ... I Verai if the new region I start will be bugs, I ask myself questions in this case!  x)

Sad to hear about what happened to your region :( I had a similar thing happen to me on my old PC a long time ago, still have no idea what caused it. Luckily I haven't run into the same issue since, but I do backup everything onto my flash drive every couple of days to prevent it from being that huge of a problem again. These last pictures here are simply superb, such a shame this is the last we'll be seeing of it. Anyways, I do look quite forward to seeing what you have in store for the future, especially these "exotic" scenes, should be quite interesting.

Thank you korver. I will not make scenes "exotic" right away, this is a simple idea for now in order to vary the diversity of landscapes! ;)

Those are some beautiful scenes, they'll most certainly be missed. I really like how creative you were with the transportation network in this city a shame you couldn't finish it :(

I had a similar problem with my second region, similar in that it was also a regional-wide issue. The problem was more the loading part than the saving though. After not playing the game for a few months I felt the urge to get back into it but all of a sudden none of my cities would load any more. I suspected that the problem was because I had deleted a plugin that I had placed in that region. But because it had been months since I played the game my recycling bin had long since been deleted and I had no idea which plugin it might have been. Back then I never thought to back up my plugins, which is something I do with regularity now. That's when I started on Pretoria, so it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Then one day I developed the exact same problem with Pretoria! But thankfully because I backed up my plugins folder I was able to pin point the exact file causing the problem. Turns out it was a building that I wasn't even using in any of my cities. Turns out if I had plopped that building even once in any cities, it would add that corrupt data the save file. That building is "BLaM's Steinsaas Taarnet" which is now a known problem now - http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=6744.0 The file was once locked but is currently available on the exchange. I'd like to think that issue has been corrected but there is no confirmation in the description that is has been. In any case it's not same file which caused the cities for my 2nd region to crash while loading which means there are other files out there that cause the same problem. I suspect that something similar is likely causing the issues you've had as well, something that you once had in you plugins. The scary thing is, you could do everything right - delete the file from all your city(s) before removing it from the plugins folder and still your save files will get corrupted. Anyhow, I hope you preserve and continue to produce and share your awesome creations.

Yes indeed, I deleted my Plugins folder to play without. But Dahammas continued to bugger, and now I read your story, I think I know where the problem comes ... I will avoid that mistake this time, and I'll create backups of the area more regularly now! Thank! :thumb:

Wow, a bit vertige-inducing, but quite instructive !:-) You definitely have a nice eye for detail placement. Personally, I would have worked the fall/rapids a little bit more. Added a few willows, for tree variety. But all in all : :thumb:

Thank you very much. It is true that the video is a bit too fast ... I also plant a lot of trees seasons, but then I preferred just those summer. :)

Thanks so much for this! I had a hard time trying to figuring out how to make the RFR water look cohesive but now I realize I was just over thinking it and it's all the other mmp's that you can add later which makes a water scene work so well.

Thank you. Indeed, I had the same concerns that you at first. Each time I used this mod, I found not very good and I never knew how to make it beautiful (even the first time I installed it, I had deleted). Until one day I decided to do several experiments above. ;)

This is one of the best cities I've ever seen made for SC4 and also one of the most underrated, it's deserving of many more likes/comments.

I've rarely seen so many different aspects of a city covered in a single entry and so well made at the same time. There's really not single weakness in your city building. The airport and highway networks are well planned. Your railway work is fantastic, I particularly like the curve and overpass in image 8, the curves & crossing at grade in 18 and the single track/highway/multi-track arrangement in 25. Your mmp work is very pleasing to the eye, you did a great job of implementing height transitions all over the place and of course I love the hydro corridors running around, something I enjoy doing in my cites too. I have only one small suggestion which is rto use extended height transitions for the one-way roads a little more consistently, a few ramps have the sharper less realistic ramps (pics 7,24). But really even mentioning that feels trivial compared to the awesomeness of everything else :thumb:

Thank you very much for your comment, I am very pleased that my city please many! This touches me, thank you!
You know, it does not bother me not to have a lot of comments / likes, even though the work may seem good. I am here because I am passionate about the game, so it's always a pleasure to share my cities and ideas with the rest of the community. I do not have many comments or likes, but the few comments that there are satisfied me a lot! :]

Sometimes it is good to be discreet! Thanks again! :)
