City: Acera

Region: Marshall

Plot: Lewis Landing

Mayor: Joshua Gellock (Gellockfamily)

Population: 50K

City Specialization: Trade

Welcome to Acera!

Overall_zpsecaebccf.png

Acera is a city in the Marshall region. As of the most recent census, the city has a total population of 51,000. Acera lies in the center of the mountain region, just above the lake. There are 3 sections of the city: the industrial & trade section, the downtown (old town), and the heights.

Acera8_zps4db121ac.png

Acera4_zps0fb02fdc.png

Acera6_zpsffe23455.png

Rich with raw ore and coal, Acera ventured into the heavy industry and trade business during the industrial revolution. Due to an abundance, the city specialized in exporting materials used in metal making. Machine shops, mills, and factories create a robust economy for the city. Residents typically travel to neighboring cities for entertainment, shopping, and sports.

Acera10_zps5aa569ab.png

Acera11_zpscc70e104.png

Acera9_zpsc843400a.png

Due to the mountainous terrain, Acera uses a unique tunnel system to join the different districts. Roads also wrap around hills and mountains to get people around. The city has one main rail line, shared by commuter trains and trade businesses. Unlike the metro area, the only big businesses are those in heavy industry and trade. Small businesses make up over 95% of Acera's commercial entities.

Acera13_zps6797d3f8.png

Acera14_zpse965f932.png

Acera15_zps2175c6d0.png

Acera's trade ports use heavy-rail containers to transport goods. Because of the location in the region and in the nation, Acera has found success in trading.

With resources drying up, and trade starting to boom, will Acera go head-first into trade and close up the mines? Stay tuned to find out.

City: Hillsdale Pointe

Mayor: Joshua Gellock (Gellockfamily)

Population: 64K

City Specialization: Education

Welcome to Hillsdale Pointe!

9_zps07ba4528.png

Hillsdale Pointe was an urban re-development project of New Harper. While the city is home to the famous Hillsdale University, it lacked infrastructure and services to keep the city prosperous, clean, and healthy. It became a home to criminals, and many businesses were on their way out.

New Harper took a financial risk, and invested in expanding police services to clean up Hillsdale Pointe. This effort, coupled programs and partnerships with local churches, took the city in a better direction. Crime started to trend down. The university received additional funding and was able to expand the campus. Private corporations started offering mass transit options as well. The city now offers a unique infrastructure (lots of land bridges and tunnels), along with bus, ferry, rail, and airship mass transit services. Downtown is now a mix of educational buildings, shops, and offices.

3_zpsc3b49064.png

4_zps3b667067.png

2_zpsfff0c944.png

Hillsdale is not only the proud home of many families, but also many businesses. The city's business-friendly policies attracted many reputable companies to renovate existing, run-down buildings into new, profitable businesses.

1_zps0b5a6b53.png

The commuter airship mooring is an experimental project from one of the companies that powers the city's airship. It's expensive to keep running, but it also brings in some of the top minds from the region.

7_zps19954827.png

Traditionally, wind power has not been a cost-effective source of power. Costs to keep turbines operational outweigh the profits. However, these prototype models have low manufacturing and maintenance costs. The turbines wrap around the entire city, giving technicians easy access when servicing these models. You can also take tours and check out these awesome pieces of machinery.

Marshall - Carson

City: Carson

Mayor: FourteenRocket / 14Rocket

Population: 152,000

City Specialization: Trade/Tourism

The city of Carson was founded as a trading outpost between the mining towns in the mountains, and the rest of the country surrounding the mountains. Although much of the trade has diminished, the city still is the main financial center of the region. Carson is the capital of Marshall today because of it's significance in the state's history. The city sits about one vertical mile above sea level making it one of the largest settlements at that height. Visitors can enjoy the shops and restaurants in Carson, and perhaps enjoy a football game, or they can go to one of the ferry terminals along the lake shore and take a ferry to the other side of the lake at the base of the mountains where they can enjoy the local scenery and fauna. Carson is the gateway between the coastline of Amoroff, and the natural world.

Highway 23 passes through Carson, and makes 3 exits for the downtown area, a T interchange for the 4th Street Exit, a Diamond interchange for the 10 Street Exit, and a Partial Clover Leaf for the 15th Street Exit.

Welcome to the town of Clarkson!

City: Clarkson

Mayor: FourteenRocket / 14Rocket

Population: 50,500

City Specialization: None

Clarkson is the immediate suburb of the city of Hampton. It has a pristine beach on the oceanfront. Many of the corporate elite that run Hampton from the skyscrapers live in Clarkson. Clarkson is one of those urban sprawl suburbs that grew earlier in the 20th century having a primarily a grid system. Due to the amount of commuters in and out of Clarkson, the interstate exit to and from the city is choked with traffic. Clarkson, aside from being a suburb, has many shops and business along the main drag leading from the interstate making it a lively beach town get away as well.

Hampton Blvd leading to the interstate. Many of the shops in Clarkson are on this road. At city Hall the road splits into Hampton Blvd E. and Hampton Blvd W. with many more shops.

Welcome to New Washington!

City: New Washington

Mayor: 14Rocket

Population: 205,500

Capital of Republic of Amoroff

City Specialization: Culture/Trade

After my failure to provide garbage services to my previous city, I started a new region and am now attempting to make a new metropolitan city. Welcome to New Washington! I've take a few picture from the same corner of the city to show the progress of a town of nearly no people to a city of about 205,000 people in the limited tile space the new Sim City has. I also put recycling centers in my city to help prevent the same issue I had before. :P

New Washington is the capital of the Republic of Amoroff, and has been since its founding 117 years ago. As of today it is one of the major economic powerhouses of the country, and certainly vital to the country's survival. Even though it may not be the perfect utopia, New Washington is safer, and cleaner than some of the surrounding towns and cities. Tourists flock to the capital by the thousands. With minor city problems evolving every few months, give or take, the city is able to handle any problem, while able to support its neighboring communities.

These pictures are of the city in it's early town state.

New Washington begins to develop further and suddenly Willis Tower isn't so lonely in the sky anymore.

Welcome to the mining town of Havenwood!

City: Havenwood

Mayor: FourteenRocket / 14Rocket

Population: 55,500

City Specialization: Mining / Metals / Trade

The town of Havenwood was founded in the late 19th century when the discovery of iron ore was made in the area. Ever since the town has had steady flow of mining and much of the ore is refined into alloy and steel. Today about 55,000 people live in the town and work in the industrial district in Havenwood. Much of the city was developed recently skywards with the middle class taking most of the skyline. Trading companies and metal companies have also dominated the skyline of the Vansburgh metro area. Much of the area is still dominated by forests on the mountain side, but choked with urban sprawl in the valley below along the lakeside.

Every day many trains travel into Havenwood to deliver coal and export steel and alloy.

The Republic of Amoroff is celebrating it's 10,000th view with an odd treat. Instead of presenting the growth of a city, we from the Republic will present the death of one. How will it die? Zombies of course... the brain eatting creatures of the undead only are looking for a quick bite to eat, and Amoroff's citizens are some of the tastiest around since we're so educated. Unfortuantly for the zombies their radioactive virus renders them vunerable to sunlight due to the extra radiation being exposed to them.

Welcome to Atoma! It is apart of New Washington and before the attack the population was 96,000 living souls. As day winds to an end little Timmy is taken to the local doctor for an odd flu. Its unlike any other... he is delerious and vomiting, but the weird thing is, Timmy is starting to glow green, and he has a strange craving for human brains.

zombieattack1.png

Little Timmy has now bitten the people inside and escaped the clinic. Zombies now roam the streets.

zombieattack1.png

NWPD respond to a report of riots in the suburbs. Little do they know there is not rioters, but undead hordes massing in the suburbs.

zombieattack2.png

Police are now being dispatched to control the situation. The police and civilians are doing everything they can to prevent the spread of this new super virus.

zombieattack4.png

As police shoot and kill the infected, people are advised to barricade their homes and stay off the streets, unless they must leave for their own saftey. Panic also leads to fires which NWFD can barely contain.

zombieattack5.png

As the night drags on reports of infected have been reported in the heavily populated area of Atoma. With most of the police responding to the reports on the west end of town, there is nothing to stop the spread the virus on the east. Amoroff Officals quarantine the city to prevent infection in any other parts of the country. Scientists have also determined that the infected has so much radiation in their systems that any more radiation exposed to them will kill them. The people of Atoma must now survive until the break of dawn.

zombieattack7.png

zombieattack9.png

as time passes fires spread even more. BUt why? It turns out that all of the NWFD stationed in Atoma have been bited and converted to the undead.

zombieattack12.png

zombieattack11.png

zombieattack14.png

The virus has spread to every corner of the quarantined area as the undead roam neighborhood after neighborhood, looking for brains.

Many people ditch their cars in the street, other use their cars to eavacuate, but the process is slow.

zombieattack23.png

As the night turns to day the citizens of Atoma emerge to see their homes in ruins and the ashes of the undead everywhere because the UV light from the sun killed them allin a flash. The estimated death toll is 75,000 reducing the population of Atoma to 20,000.

Welcome to the city of Steelington!

City: Steelington

Mayor: FourteenRocket/14Rocket

Population: 108,000

City Specialization: Mining/Electronics/Trade

The severly industiral city of Steelington was founded in 1885 when prospectors found that the land was rich in iron and coal deposits. Ever since then it has been mining for the Amoroff (then it was the Kingdom of Amoroff). A little over 150 years later, the city has virtually changed little, remaining an industrial hub of Amoroff, bringing it a bountiful supply of wealth. This industry has a cost however. The city is heavily polluted, but someone's got to do the dirty work. Enviromentalists wave into the city every Earth Day to demote the smeel of big business in the city. Since the turn of the century, Steelington has put it's resources to use by making other products such as computers, processors, and flat screen televisions. If these industries were to fail, so would the city of Steelington as it sustains to be an economic powerhouse of Fairview.

The industrial district delvops quickly in the mid 1900s.

Welcome to town of Green Valley!

Town: Green Valley, Fairview

Mayor: FourteenRocket/14Rocket

Population: 6,500

City Specialization: Minor Mining/Feeding grounds for zombies and Godzilla's cousin.

The Town of Green Valley is a peaceful small town which is now intergrated as a suburb of Steelington. Unlike Steelington, it does not have as many factories, therefore does not have as many pollution problems, and stays true to it's name. It also gets a surge of enviromentalists every few months to protest of Steelington's industirial districts. Green Valley Also has had the misfortune of being the first settlement in Fairview to be the froint lines of a zombie invasion. However, the police force is well prepared for any situation and will protect it's citizens at any cost. The citizens take this safety and enjoy a peaceful life in this quiet suburban town. The town sits between sizable cliffs, and the Bronotiff River. Every citizen enjoys the luxuries of life here, and we invite you to stay (for your brains).

Green Valley is far from the populous center of the NewWashington/Freeport metropolitian area.

Welcome to the CIty of Iron Shores!

City: Iron Shores

Mayor: FourteenRocket/14Rocket

Population: 61,500

Former Trading Port of New Washington

City Specialization: Formally: Trade/Metals/Oil/Mining, Present: Tourism

Iron Shores was named after the rich iron deposits that once laid under its soil. At about the turn of the century, the iron deposits and oil that made the city prosperous ran dry, and the heavy industry polluted the land killing the surrounding vegitation, and sickened many people. At about the time the mines were running dry, some enviromentalists moved into the city and sped up the demise of the industry that made the city a major trading hub of New Washington. The mines were quickly shut down, and to prevent economic collapse, the city soon began a development plan that was to reclaim the abandon land, and just after a few months after each mine shut down, the city began to develop over the land, and in some cases, letting nature reclaim the land to reduce pollution to safe levels foe people to settle on. 20 years later, the city is begining to bounce back, taking advantage of the beaches and tourism it recieves from the surrounding area.

Iron Shores only a few decades before the industry sector failed.

Edited and revised by Dr. Boom/Viportools/Mayor Spears.

City: Freeport

Mayor: Martin Spears (Viportools)

Population: 68,000

Country: Republic of Amoroff

City Specialization: Trade/Oil

Welcome to the city of Freeport. Founded by the trading tycoon Martin Spears in the thirties (2034), Freeport had undergone massive growth, and is now the biggest port in the Republic of Amoroff. As an industrial center, Freeport undeniably the main contributor to Amoroff's pollution problem, although efforts have been made to "go green". Freeport's greatest exports are a dwindling oil supply and an increasing supply of alloy and plastic. Originally known as "Bamberg Basin", Freeport's name references the freedom of capitalism and the fact it is a port. (No relation to Everquest). Freeport's politics are mainly conservative oriented with a wealthy elite and white collar engineers and scientists dominating the scene. Freeport is based off of typical American ports, such as Philadelphia, Boston or the Port of South Louisiana and Orleans. Census puts Freeport's population at about 68,000. While not the biggest city in the country, Freeport is vital to it's economy.

Here are photos from Freeport's birth...

~7,500 citizens...

spark20130328170452.png

I started to develop the southern end. Had to plan ahead and might as well start early. I placed some wealthy parks, and to my surprise a whole bunch of rich sims decided to move in. Perhaps it was the ocean view that compelled them?

spark20130328170517.png

Jump ahead to ~25k. Medium and high density start to appear in great numbers. I was very surprised with the high wealth high density since it usually doesn't appear until much later. I was surprised at the rate of growth as well, I didn't manage to get ~15k pop. pictures!

spark20130329170948.png

~30,000. I placed a lot of civic services, such as a high school and a large police station. All of my high wealth homes have become high density skyscrapers, somewhat in contrast to the rest of the city. I also had made a casino in the corner there, to attract some of the tourists constantly flowing into the region.

spark20130329171014.png

During that time I was also working on my trade specialization, while drilling for oil and selling it on the market for a good amount. I was able to get the Trade Headquarters quite quickly. I had also encouraged (cheated in a way) in getting high tech industry by placing Dr. Vu right next door, and it helped boost the tourists and freight sales.

spark20130329171043.png

During this time something regrettable happened: I had a zombie attack which nearly wiped out my city! Over 10,000 citizens were dead and 80 buildings abandoned and had to be demolished. I wish I could of taken pics, but I was too busy panicking. I did manage to grab a picture of the regrowth that happened afterwards...

Sim City 2013

Hello! So I've had the new Sim City for about two weeks now, and granted it has its flaws and things could be done much better, I enjoy it a lot and I enjoy some of the features like freely rotating the camera to get different perspectives of each city I make. Unfortunately, I get about a few years into the cities I make and the neighboring cities I make for garbage don't collect enough garbage and my Sims get sick. :uhm: And once that starts to get everyone sick my city begins to fail and I lose significant funds. However, I was able to get some pictures while my cities thrive. Enjoy some of these pictures. Keep in mind all of the pictures at the top are newer and the ones towards the bottom are older so some of them may appear out dated, so progress is the upper pictures.
