Willow Valley Road Map...

Motorway building has been quite slow to do the historic nature of the old town in the centre. A network of boulevards and avenues has been created which is mainly just widened existing roads. An outer ring motorway is under construction but so far only the east and west sides have been built due to cost and the higher demolition required for the north and south sides. Also two radial motorways have been built...

Willow Valley - New Inner Ring Road & Subway Map

Traffic in Willow Valley has never really been that bad. But as the city has grown more and more cars flood into the Downtown area. Even with the building of the Metrolink rail lines, congestion has been getting worse. Because of this, the city has proposed a new Inner Ring. The first stage is only in the south western corner but more will be built...

The days of a badly connected ring railway are over. The city has completed the Metrorail project! This links the outer circle line into the Downtown area via a network of subway tunnels. Here is the map...

Fairmont - Suburbs, Farms & Mountains! Hidden Hills - Re development of roads!

As Willow valley expands space has become tight! The city has expanded into the mountainous area of Fairmont. Steep sided valleys with farmland in the bottom are the main money makers here!

Hidden Hills

Hidden Hills is a suburban area with large family homes on quiet side streets. Most of the traffic filters out onto large collector road that run in a large grid. The problem with this is that congestion can built up. Many years ago a large roundabout junction was built to allow traffic to flow better. This did help the problem but at the cost of making the area unfriendly to pedestrians.

It was decided that this junction should be down graded as the addition of buses had reduced congestion anyway and the whole area has been made more green and a nicer place to be...

The first ever expressway to be built! Its not very long but Sunny Hollow Boulevard was getting very congested. The boulevard was widened and each side was made into local collector roads and the new expressway (Sunny Hollow Expressway) runs down the middle as an express route into and out of the main Downtown area...

Grand plans for the rail terminal, and wasteland demolition!

The Downtown Terminal has done good service for over 100 years. It opened when the Willow Valley was just a town to transport sims to the industries in the east. Over time most of the jobs have moved to the Downtown area. Because of this there has been a proposal to demolish the terminal and extend the line into a tunnel under the downtown area with 3 underground stations, then link up to the surface line that runs around the edge of the city at the other side...

WillowValley39.jpg

With industries leaving the city, miles of wasteland have been left empty. In an effort to reduce pollution in the city a lot of the empty factories have been demolished and trees planted their place.

Suburbs, downtown, roundabouts & railways...

Willow Valley has grown a lot over the last few years. The Inner Loop rail line has opened to take people from the suburbs round the city to the industry in the east. Downtown is growing a lot, the problem with this is that with the larger buildings comes more congestion. The city centre has had most of its 2 lane roads widened to 4 lanes however this has done little to fix the problem. The next stage of development will be an inner ring road and subway network...

Willow Valley - suburban growth!

Expansion of the town is happening fast! Most of the new development is limited to suburban in nature but the road layout has been designed so that high density buildings would fit in just fine!

The old town of Willow Valley has been around for a long time! With huge expansion on the horizon the old town needed some bypasses to act as a ring around it to direct the cars away from the historic centre.

The first development takes place in the south and west of the town. Oakwood and Sunny Hollow. They are both suburban style garden villages. Tree lines roads, large family homes and a small centre! Town planning from UK 1920s has returned!

Monterrey County, the search is over!

With the worlds population booming, the task was set to find a suitable location for a large city! The area that has been selected is the small town of Willow Valley. Located in the semi arid region of Monterrey there is plenty of space for huge urban expansion to the town.

Currently the population stands at 22,000. But over the never 100 years the population is set to increase 100 times!

Take a look at Willow Valley in its current form. Proposals for new bypasses of the town are in place already!

Take a look!
