Sorry to keep all of you waiting, in terms of SC4 I've mostly been working on parts of the region... I'll just let the region views do the work

Coming out of Logan, we pass through the corner of Dyfania (terrible name, I know, I had no creativity at the time)

This image is slightly touched up

dyfania_mosaic01_export.jpg

A look at Bolovov Expwy at the interchange

dyfania-interchange01.jpg

We then enter the north side of Aurora. We're about to get onto the Turnpike, so get your wallet ready, unless you have GreenPASS ;)

The interchange is unique because it used to be a simple parclo with an avenue, and had to be upgraded in the same space

aurora_mosaic01_export.jpg

Merging with the turnpike. We don't pass under that sign, but I included it to help get a sense of which goes where

aurora_tat_interchange01.jpg

We're now leaving the Ravenna suburbs and heading into open land

aurora_leaving01.jpg

As we haven't shown the finished product at H24-Jordan Ave, and I really couldn't bother to make a full update about it, here's the completed area

kaoi_finishedinterchange01.jpg

I've also been forced to upgrade portions of the Capital Beltway due to increased traffic.

This stretch used to be just a 6C/8C with a short portion having a RHW-4 collector

kagochi_precondition01.jpg

The area after. I tried to avoid seizing as much property as possible, hence the lack of soundwalls.

kagochi_postcondition01.jpg

One of the interchanges not shown above. Used to be just a 6C folded diamond. We've added 6 to 10 lanes, which were sorely needed.

kagochi_fullinterchange.jpg

The SPUI was replaced with an express-local diamond. (I'd preferred to have kept it a SPUI without the express access, but it didn't like the setup very much). Also note the glitch on the bridge (which is in beta!) was fixed :P

kagochi_upgrades02.jpg

Closer look at another of the same bridge

Well folks, that's all! I hope you enjoyed this update, and pardon the long break. Thanks for looking!

So I just realized that I forgot to include update 15 in the CJ section, so here it is!

update15.png

So we're taking a minor detour from our route and visiting a construction site on H24. It's not exactly the construction style you'd see like in Tarkus's excellent CJ Tarkusian CIties, but more of how the project would progress in the most bare-bones way (at least there's dirt later on).

This interchange has been a bottleneck for Jordan Ave (running N/S here) and isn't exactly the best interchange in the first place (although the reasoning for the loop ramps was to increase the space for commuters to change lanes before the Kaoi Mega Interchange (H24 x H27S (toll) x H424 (Capital Beltway) x H17).

kaoi-01.jpg

Trees and soundwalls cleared away

kaoi-02.jpg

Ramp foundations and Jordan Ave widening. Also extending Firing Rd (the TLA-7 in the bottom corner) to intersect.

kaoi-03.jpg

We'll now focus on the interchange itself. Asphalt has already been laid for the temporary ramps (and dirt now exists)

kaoi-04.jpg

kaoi-05.jpg

Temporary overpass for H24 being built. Old ramps have been disconnected and the temp ramps are in place

kaoi-06.jpg

The area was shut down for a while as they tore down the old overpass and finished the temporary overpass, resulting in

kaoi-07.jpg

Overpasses for H24 completed

kaoi-08.jpg

Temporary overpass removed

kaoi-09.jpg

This is far from done, as you can tell. The temporary ramps will be moved again to make space for the actual interchange, and we'll fix up the rest.

update14.png

Phew. Bit of a time of inactivity for this CJ... I finally have an update continuing along our route.

But first, a region shot

As we've now passed out of Ravenna and into Logan, we pass under our first proper glimpse of AyDOT's new VMSs

logan_01.png

And its exit

logan_02.png

u14_logan_mosaic01.png

The next exit is bit more complicated... I'll let the signs explain

Eventually we'll be down in the southwest corner of Aydina.. if you saw the region map you should be able to see what's down there ;)

Thanks for reading!

update13.png

Well, its been a while since we've had these

Region Shot

Region Map

You can see I've been doing a lot of work...

So for the next few updates we'll be taking a road trip from Ravenna to Cyther-Iraklion, filled with more roadgeekery than usual. You probably can tell who inspired me to do this :P

We start out from our home in the northeastern portion of Ravenna, just off of R53 Innerbelt

u13_ravenna_01.jpg

ravenna_01t.png

It quickly terminates

ravenna_02at.png

u13_ravenna_02.jpg

ravenna_02bt.png

We turn left, then proceed past Station Avenue (should be obvious as to why its named that :P)

u13_ravenna_03.jpg

ravenna_03t.png

We then arrive at H24 and take it (to avoid the traffic snarls on the Innerbelt near H227)

u13_ravenna_04.jpg

ravenna_04t.png

Driving along we pass a few interchanges - first with Horizon Ave, followed by H227

ravenna_05t.png

u13_ravenna_05.jpg

u13_ravenna_06.jpg

Night begins to fall as we drive over Flight Memorial Bridge

u13_ravenna_07.jpg

Arrive at the spaghetti known as the H24/H227 terminus/H27 interchange - night has fallen (its almost winter in Aydina)

ravenna_06t.png

u13_ravenna_08.jpg

We take Exit 39A (H24) and merge in smoothly

u13_ravenna_09.jpg

ravenna_07t.png

From here we'll be staying on East H27, passing through the interchange with R49

u13_ravenna_10.jpg

Hope all of you have enjoyed this update :)

Visiting Icara

update11.png

Small forewarning, this post make take a while to load. 1920x1080 JPEGs and 2 rather large 1920xXXXX mosaics (also JPEG) do take a while to load. Once it's all loaded the images will be scaled properly.

Showing what's going on currently with the highways in question.. we'll be looking at a leg of H27 and H24 (Syaoran Expy)

But first, to the north of the area in question, we have the 8-6 lane segment

u9_traffich24n_01_expt.jpg

u9_bridge01.jpg

And one more bridge for good measure (not on H24/Syaoran Expy)

u9_bridge02.jpg

And now we move focus to H27

First off... as usual... region shot! You'll notice information in the top left, and big green borders and stuff like that.

LINKY

Aydina is separated into 4 divisions, called Saibastia (literally "faces"). They are named and translated as shown in the information area on the map. Individually, their name is their motto, and together, they form Aydina's motto.

Anyways, to pick up from that teaser... we'll be moving east to west in these pics.

Region shots as usual.

aydina_2011_03_06_focus.png

And the map

aydina_map_2011_03_06.png

So we have Jennings Rd here... the curving road above H24 there.

u6_sandrunpre00.jpg

We prime the new alignment

u6_sandrun-01.jpg

Lay down some asphalt

u6_sandrun00.jpg

Lay some more

u6_sandrun01.jpg

And finally pave it all over. The old alignment is still connected to the new

u6_sandrun02.jpg

But no longer so! The remaining bit is now named Olde Jennings Rd.

u6_sandrun03.jpg

And the finished result!

Well, here's a region map, as usual. Notice that I've planned out things and changed exit numbers...

First up, an interesting tollchange, where H424, H27, and H27S interchange.

Next, we have a full Y interchange that splits H64 from H35

Aristole and TSX

update5.png

Your obligatory region shot/map. Sorry for the crappy JPEG compression, but, well, the PNG is way too big.

(Click!)

aydina_map_2011_01_23.jpg_thumb.jpg

We'll complete the h64.png run so far with an overview of Aristole. Here, its multiplexed with H35 (as shown on the map).

u5_aristole_devel01.jpg

And now we return back to the Ravenna area, this time stopping in "TSX." Only four other people know what it stands for, and you're most likely not one of them and its best if you don't know. 3.gif

It is a rather filthy rich suburb.

A region map, for your convienence

aydina_2011_01_23_map.png_thumb.jpg

And cuz its about time, AyDOT has a logo now!

aydot_logo_02.png

So first off, we're starting in Wilmington. Yeah, we just drove from Sand Run all the way here on the Capital Beltway and the Trans-Aydinian Turnpike without pics or anything, but, its my CJ and I can do what I like thank you 3.gif

As we drive another 30 tycae or so on h27.png (note: 1 tyca > 1 mile, but 1 TaPH < 1 MPH. Don't ask how, its just like that), we arrive at Interchange 84 with h64.png at Aoiya Lake.

u3_aoiyalake_highway01.jpg

We take the exit and after paying our toll, we drive through the lakefront area of Aoiya Lake

u3_aoiyalake_development01_2.jpg

Closer look at the historic ship and carousel

u3_aoiyalake_development02.jpg

We'll come back to the turnpike, but for now, we're gonna follow h64.png a bit more.

As we exit the town, we're greeted by this sight

u3_windwood_highway03_2.jpg

As we cross the tunnel...

u3_windwood_highway02.jpg

u3_windwood_highway01_3.jpg

We return to the turnpike, heading east... and look! Its the East Gate welcome plaza!
