That's all for now, I just wanted to introduce a news channel type thing that I can use in the future. Feel free to comment or suggest improvements (ok, don't suggest anything for the third news item picture, that was from 2009 3.gif)

2010 Trixies: Best Roadgeek CJ Award

I must thank all of my readers and commenters for helping make this CJ be what it is today, for if there weren't any of you, this CJ would have died like so many others. I also wanted to thank all those other people who have supported me and come along with me through the 2 years of ST. And I'd also like to thank everyone in the NAM Team, for what would I be showcasing if it wasn't for them ? Heck, I probably wouldn't be playing SC4 :P Anyways, again, thank you all for reading, commenting, rating, and nominating me and this CJ. Enjoy the new year!

First off, a map of what we're looking at:

Bonus: Find Squall Leonhart in this mosaic (hint: He's larger than most buildings) and I'll give you a cookie and maybe name a highway after you. Most likely a 1 mile long connector, but oh well. 3.gif

You can see my curving crossing solution as well, in these between Skyne and South Island, along H32. I also renumbered almost all the highways to a standard system.

And a little photoshopping treat... its my first "major" (if I recall properly) shopping

Have you ever wanted to put an overpass  that psedo-flys over the RHW from which it came from? Similar to this?

elyria_-_rt8_connector_north_interchange

Well here's the tutorial on how to do so!

First, you have your plain RHW. It doesn't have to be RHW-4 (well, your only other options are RHW-2 and MIS-1) and it doesn't have to be side by side.

step1.jpg

Now, when we try just dragging the thing across, we get this:

step2.jpg

Not so pretty eh? Doesn't work either. We can try putting the RHW x RHW pieces, but then there's no way to have a curve that close.

Or is there?

Clear out the tiles where the overpass will be.

step3.jpg

Place your ERHW x RHW pieces (using the networks you want, I'm using EMIS x RHW 4 for this example) You can connect the RHW-4 to them (using the RHW-4 filler pieces) if you want now. I added them in later because I was lazy 3.gif.

step4.jpg

Place 4 filler pieces of that network, 2 on each side.

step6.jpg

Demolish the outermost one, as to leave stubs.

step7.jpg

Draw out from those stubs and connect as shown. You can connect on the other side too, but for this example I'm focusing on one side (to simplify things)

step8.jpg

Demolish that extra stub.

step9.jpg

Place your starter or transition pieces, and you're done!

step10.jpg

Now using this method, you can build a basketweave like this:

Hope that was useful!

First of all, if you're reading this in the Forum Section or viewing the first entry of the New CJ Section, you may have noticed new banners going up. Also, the DevDOT logos:

Bannered

Secondly, two maps.

Region Map 3366x2881

Map of the city of Whirlround (beta map - testing style) 2000x2000

Alright, now with that out of the way, we now proceed to our update.

Portions of H-10, Devlin's major N/S freeway, have been unable to properly service the 1 million sims that commute along it every day.

Those two portions being:

Interchange 33A-B with H-375

h10-h375_interchange_before01.jpg

h10-h375_interchange_before02.jpg

Interchange 42 with a surface road and its subsequent connection (via local) to R-23, a middle level partial access freeway.

h10-r23_interchange_before01.jpg

h10-r23_interchange_before02.jpg

This interchange had two options:

1. Direct flyover connection between the two and leaving the existing interchange, but at the cost of demolishing many buildings.

2. Extend R-23 and integrate it into a new interchange between the surface road and H-10

And after reconstructing the interchanges and surrounding area, we start with H-10 33A-B H-375 Interchange

Until next time,

I've been building here and there across most of Devlin, farm fields (south side), a new metropolitan area (to the north), developing more suburbia and middle density, and running a highway and HSR line between Devlin Center and Switchbend.

First up, a region shot. (WARNING, 4936 x 2448 JPEG)

So I was trying to create this (which as you can see I have)

But I slipped on try 1 (elsewhere on the quad)

Got it right the 2nd time though.

And an interchange in CS/CX, which is not the city name but a short version of it. Very few people know what it stands for. Glances at Glenni and Chptrk
