Lost, part 2
February 17th, 0165AL (2021)
The Valmal continued to orbit the planet as the Wapbervklex drive was repaired.
Cormani: The Blikora can't have been here for long, all orbits here are unstable over a few years due to the gas from the nebula.
Lt. Kalmul: So whatever took it out could still be around?
Cormani: Yes, it is possible.
Mardon: I'm picking up two unidentified objects heading in this direction.
Captain Vashuri: Go to red alert.
The two Scourge ships from the previous battle appeared out of the clouds, and the Valmal opened fire as the Scourge ships did the same. However, both side's beam weapons dissipated long before they came close to the other ships.
Captain Vashuri: What's going on?
Mardon: The nebula seems to be absorbing the energy from the weapons.
One of the Scourge ships changed course, and began to fly directly at the Valmal.
Captain Vashuri: Evasive maneuvers, and prepare to fire coilguns!
The Valmal shuddered as it fired a broadside, a beam form the Scourge ship impacted the shields, and the 2 ships bounced off of each other.
Computer: Shields are at 21%.
Mardon: The coilgun fire is also being absorbed by the nebula, we will only be able to engage them at point blank range with conventional weaponry.
Captain Vashuri: That is why we won't use conventional weaponry... Computer, how many thermonuclear warheads are currently able to be used?
Computer: 8 warheads are available, all with a 500MT yield.
Captain Vashuri: Keep us out of range of the Scourge ships, and prep 4 of the warheads for launch, set to detonate just outside of the Scourge ships' shields.
Ensign Yarin: Will do, Captain.
Lt. Bariel: The warheads should be ready in 30 seconds.
Lt. Bariel: The warheads are ready.
Captain Vashuri: Fire.
The 4 missiles launched from the Valmal, and began flying to their targets.
Two of the missiles were shot down before they detonated, but the other two detonated as the Scourge ships flew out of the way.
Mardon: Both ships have survived, and... wait. Something's happening...
1st Officer Chatakra: What is it?
Mardon: Hold on... There is a massive energy build up in the nebula around where the warheads detonated.
2 energy discharges from the nebula impacted one of the Scourge ships, taking down its shields.
As the Valmal began to leave the area, a third discharge hit the ship, which began to fall apart.
Lt. Bariel: The other ship has lost shields!
Captain Vashuri: Open fire with the railguns!
Unlike the energy based weapons, the railgun rounds reached their target, and along with several smaller discharges from the nebula, they disable the remaining Scourge ship. Just as the Scourge ship began falling back, one of the discharges impacted the Valmal.
Computer: Shields are offline.
Captain Vashuri: Go to maximum safe speed, now!
A large blast rocked the ship as another discharge impacted, and the main antenna was ripped off of the ship.
Lt. Kalmul: Long range sensors and communications are totally out, hull breaches have been detected on decks 6, 9, and 10, and engines 3, 7, and 8 have been disabled. Emergency containment fields are holding.
The ship shook again as a second discharge hit.
Lt. Kalmul: Another hull breach has just formed in holodeck 2, rear weapons are now offline... Wapbervklex drive is now online!
Captain Vashuri: Activate it!
Ensign Yarin: Opening wormhole!
Meanwhile, back at the site of the battle, the nebula had calmed down, and one Scourge ship continued to drift as its inhabitants began to repair the heavy damage to the ship...
To be continued...
One of the several farms in the area around Bargor.
Another farm, as well as part of the Wolema Solar Power Facility.
Up in the mountains to the north of Bargor and to the east of Wolema, there are several open areas which commonly have flowers. It's a nice place to have a picnic, but it is a long hike to get to most of these open areas, and remember, don't feed the wild animals.
Some of the forest next to Wolema.
Smarty218: I believe it is Peg's Brigantine mod.
Schulmanator: We will have to see who wins the towel wars...
zelgadis: If it does, it probably wouldn't be anything like other known life, the nebula gas is poisonous to biological life.
gabry85: I used a mix of gmax and gimp.
jacqulina: Thanks for the comment!
crushedcar: Glad you like it!
zelgadis2: Would a shield help?
Simfan34: I'll get over to that side of Myoria sometime...
