Please Note:  As explained here, due to limitations in the Gallery software, some Challenge submissions may include a larger version of the same image (e.g. for mosaics).
Before voting, please check in the description and comments section to see if the author has posted one of these. However, it should not be a disadvantage if an author just has the required Gallery image.

Moscow City at Night

Recreation of the Moscow International Business Center (aka Moscow City) at night. Despite still being in construction, it's still one of the most impressive skylines in Europe (and in the world) with a one of a kind collection of skyscrapers on the banks of the Moskva River.

This picture required intensive custom content creation. A massive texture set was created for this scene, by far the largest one that I have created thus far, taking nearly a week of texture work. As the textures for this recreation couldn't possibly fit into the LODs of a single render, I had to divide it up into 8 different sections. This combined with other various buildings, boats, river walls, highway pieces, and other miscellaneous pieces were rendered over the course of a few days. Additionally, since there were many pieces that I could not find anywhere, I tried my hand at BAT as well, creating the highway from scratch as well as the famous Moscow river walls. While there may be some cosmetic touch ups such as some enhanced/added night lights, added ripples, etc in the final image, all the models you see here are in fact in the game. As always, virtually every building and prop in this picture mirrors the real life version as well - countless pictures were analyzed to ensure the highest level of realism possible in SC4.

Download links for some of the more prominent buildings in this picture:
(basic 3dsmax and gmax knowledge will be needed to import into the game)

City of Capitals
Federation Tower (in construction)
Naberezhnaya Block 1 and Naberezhnaya Block 2
Moscow river boats (The black one was simply a copy of the white one in 3dsmax with a black texture applied)
Highway + Moscow walls: As mentioned, custom BAT made by me specifically for this picture.

Smaller objects such as the train/helicopter were imported in as well (don't know the link, sorry, but they were heavily modified anyways in 3dsmax before rendering), and the rest can pretty much be found on the STEX or various prop packs.

Full-size resolution version is posted in the comments below.

Really awesome work here.  I am so blown away by your custom content as well as your execution of putting it all together.  Don't think I've seen a whole lot of Russian cities in the game before either.  Good choice!  :thumb:

@jmsepe Thanks *:) Some of the more prominent models were downloaded from 3d warehouse and imported into the game (with a little night time PS enhancement on the side). But the models themselves are actual ingame models. Other various pieces of custom content were created from scratch including the road textures, highway BAT & Moscow river walls BAT (All of which are still in WIP stage before a possible release.)

I see, I have been thinking of importing some Japanese building models from the 3d warehouse into the game using gmax. Dryan proposed it before as a joke but now that I think about, it kinda seems plausible. If you have some time, could you share how you import sketchup models into sc4? *:ohyes:

@jmsepe I sorta wrote a mini-tutorial in my last CJ update, but I do get a lot of questions about it so I think I might made an entire tutorial update here soon *:)

Old Delaware County Courthouse, by Mattb325.

A request by a fellow simcity player, this building drew its inspiration from historic photos and drawings of the Delaware County Courthouse that once stood in Muncie, Indiana.

Sadly, this eyecatching courthouse with its high victorian 'wedding cake' design and grand side staircases was demolished in the 1960s.

This game asset is offered as reward that DOES NOT replace the original in-game courthouse (nor any other custom lot) and it is offered without the need for pre-existing criteria to be met. It can be placed more than once in a city and can co-exist with the default Maxis courthouse reward if you so wish.

In addition to the benefits of enhanced crime fighting offered by the courthouse, I have modded this building so that it also provides 50 very desirable civic R$$ jobs, has a positive effect on commercial areas, provides a landmark effect, improves the mayor rating and is useful in lifting residential demand caps that hinder city and regional development.

The cost to the monthly city coffers for this government building and all of the benefits it brings is $118.

It sits on a 6x6 lot and is sure to make a grand centerpiece for any small city.

      STATS:

      Plop Cost: $68,900
      Bulldoze Cost: $5,580
      Power Consumed: 38 Mwh
      Water Consumed: 75 Gallons
      Pollution: 2 (air) / 1 (water) / 13 (garbage)
      Radius: 2 / 3 / 0
      Occupant Groups: Reward, YIMBY, Courthouse

Thought some of you might like this

"Sit back and relax as we follow the currently longest tram route in Bennaville. Cars, pedestrians and trams have somewhat realistic speed, so our (approx) 8.5 km / 5.3 mile trip will take about 21 minutes during this mid day/early afternoon ride.
As noted in a similar video this was my first big city after breaking a 1.5 year Cities: Skylines hiatus, so there is very little actual detailing, and some neighbourhoods where rushed even for my standards. I do however enjoy the brute scale, with more than 11.5 km from the furthest western to the furthest eastern part of the city.
I suspect a lot of people where harmed in the making of this video. Oh, and finding a five guys burgerjoint here looks to be pretty easy.."

      Hello everyone.
I present you with SM2 Heritage Roundhouse.
In the past, rail roundhouses were extensively used all over North America as a repair facility for trains, specifically locomotives. They were designed with that characteristic roundish design in order to take less real estate when building a train repair facility. Coupled with a massive turntable, they greatly decreased a rail yard footprint.  There are a few still in operation (very few) and they are mostly used to house old and retired locomotives donated by railway companies. Sort of like a museum for engines. Some have been converted into retail space while keeping the nostalgic feel of days gone past by displaying old engines and equipment on the front of the building.
This lot represents months of preparations and lots of specific props making. Together with a detailed and realistic custom base texture, I tried to capture reality as much as possible.
Vester's latest train engines prop pack fits this lot perfectly due to the many angles he released. Also with the usage of a clever trick, you are now able to pick different textures (companies liveries) from 5 different texture packs he released along the engine prop pack.
Once you install vester's prop pack you must choose one of his texture colors in order for the locomotives to show properly.
The lot is 14X14 and is designed to allow either freight and passenger trains to cross the DTR section at the bottom of the lot, the other rail exits/entries will only connect visually and so will the street stubs.
      Plop cost 45,000
      Bulldoze cost 4,500
      Power consumed 190
      Water consumed 120
      Maintenance cost 220/month
It will also provide 34 jobs.
You will find it under the rail menu.
This lot makes use of an extensive array of timed props with multiple angle designs in order to achieve a sort of animation with HD props. There are also many other timed props so that the lot looks livelier throughout the day. Action starts at 7am and keeps going until 6pm (closing time) after that time the lot will look empty because everyone has gone home but for one person and one vehicle, the night security guard on the left lower rail hut area.
From time to time you may see overlapping timed props, especially at the turntable sequence, this is due to game lag and depending on the speed of your processor you may or may not see it. Wait a few game days and it will correct itself.

A big thank you goes to rivit for creating a single template for vester's out of the ordinary exemplars in order for me to make timed ones. Thank you Ron!
Also, thank you vester for the engine prop pack and girafe for the ever beautiful trees and greenery models!!
