We're close! Please help us reach our April & May goals!   04/28/2017

We're getting close with our April goal - please help us over the final bump! Your donations not only help keep the site up and running, but also allows us to expand some functionality and upgrade other features of the site periodically to stay current! We're looking for some community support to help us get a new Chat system (as you know our old Chat is no longer supported by IP.Board). A new system promises to give us many more options and all for fairly little cost, relatively speaking. Please help us reach our April goal so we can keep bringing you site improvements as well!  Donate and Get a Gift or Donate Any Amount Thanks so much! - Dirktator & The Admins

Jeez, when I started reading your post, I thougt you were going to say:

"hello guys.. well i am moved and pretty much settled in our new home. i have the first wall of the house just about finished." - which led me to the thought that this would be a rather interesting definition of "settled in". *:P

But no, my brain is just playing tricks on me again. Bad brain! Bad brain! *slap*

About scale, for floor heights for a residential building they would need to be at a minimum 2.5 meters tall in real life (scaled vertically by 133% would make them 3.3 m). But really more like 3-3.5 meters (actually 4-4.5) for normal ceiling heights. If you make the assumption that since it's on mars the structure would be stronger and that there would be more utility pipes and stuff inside then the floor heights would have to be higher to accommodate that. So I would make the floor heights somewhere between 4 and 4.5 meters tall in gmax. I might even make them even a little taller than that.

Looking at your day version I thought that the facade had a grid pattern to it, but I assumed that every other "window" was actually a fake part that was covering up a wall (which is very common in real life). But the nitelites show that each window rectangle is in fact a whole floor. I know you've already released the Mars version but maybe you could do something for the earth version.

thank you... I am working on a new model will post an update soon...

It's hard to tell from the perspective view, but if the floor heights are around the dimensions I described before they should be good. :)

The next BAT will be called Robotics INC. This will be a Mars Building that can also be used in the regular SimCity game. I could not call it what i wanted because the building name was one that was used by outpost 2. this first building will produce Weaponized vehicles such as a Lazer Linx. ect...

the second building will create the Spiderbots. robotics II INC.

I will also be making a Vehical Garage.

most of these bats can be used in both the mars version and SimCity version. i will create lots for both versions .

my next project will be a farm lot for sim mars...  its going to be a 5x5 lot size and will probably take a couple of weeks to complete.

The Robotics INC is a high tech industrial and as you see I have both the Earth and Mars Lots so it can be used in both versions of the game.

the Wethy Towers is Medium wealth Residential final mars version. The Earth Tower has been placed on the back burner for now. I did lots for both versions of the game as well.

I will need to test them to be sure they will grow in game and that will take a while I'll let you know as soon as i get them to grow.

Hello! I've waited nearly seven years to post this, talk about patience I guess!
It's not as crazy as it sounds though. I have been working on a city-building project since 2010 and have anticipated to make an announcement about opening the city once the time was right, to many internet communities. City of Rezdog is an old project of mine that I have slowly worked on for many years now. The city itself is in a virtual world platform, and it is not city-building in the sense of the city-building game genre. This is literal virtual city building and nothing more, at least for now. The city is built with primitives, flat pieces that can be shaped, or 3-dimensional pieces. So the city is built piece by piece.
City of Rezdog broke ground first in AlphaWorld on February 2014 on the ActiveWorlds platform. Since then the city has been moved to the Virtual Paradise platform, and has been rebuilt using a superior primitive system than the old. Before the city was built however, I created a draft of how the city could look. The following images below are the vector drafts of the how the first district is imagined.
      http://lemfed.com/misc/City-of-Rezdog,-First-District-Draft,-NWQ.png
      http://lemfed.com/misc/City-of-Rezdog,-First-District-Draft,-NEQ.png
      http://lemfed.com/misc/City-of-Rezdog,-First-District-Draft,-SWQ.png
      http://lemfed.com/misc/City-of-Rezdog,-First-District-Draft,-SEQ.png
This draft helped shape the city as it first broke ground. The more difficult and time consuming parts of the city had to be addressed firstly before true development could begin, such as scale, object use, texturing, graphics, in-world conventions i.e. sidewalk width, curb width and depth, roads, highways, pavement markings, signage, building theme, etc. Cause of this, most of the work has been in the background so to speak. A vast majority of the work has been planning and preparation for the city. Currently, the city is not a city, it is only a district, a small one at that. I have the minimum features of the city built to get the ball rolling for others to begin building in the district.
This is the beginning of what hopefully will be a city one day. The links below are aerial views of the old and new district, showing the work that has been done. The new district is completely different than the old, other than texture. Even the scale is different, as the old was too large.

      http://lemfed.com/misc/New-first-district.jpg
As previously stated, the minimum has been provided for people to really begin constructing the city. This is a platform where people can come together and collaborate on building. Rezdog is a project with lots of detail, and with a lot of work behind it. Depending on what a person wants to do, they can be either be lightly or heavily involved in the development of the city. This is a project that can last a lifetime. It is in a world that is extremely sizable, big enough that it would likely never be filled. The following are more screenshots of the old and new district.

As you can tell, it is not a complete city, it is just the beginnings of a new town. It is not my intention to build an enormous city by myself, as I would find it lonesome and dissatisfying as I like to share my work, not to mention I couldn't do it all on my own. I am sociable, and I would like to build with others, making a community dedicated to crafting a virtual city. I felt Simtropolis would be a very fitting place to discuss my project, and to see if people would be interested in it. This is a project for people who are interested in building in open world type platforms, 3D modeling, cities, urban planning, or architecture. People will collaborate in this project on one goal, to build up and manage a virtual city. People can do anything from simply build roads, create textures, build parks, create buildings, plan the city, administrate the city, create models, program, do interior design for the buildings, and so on. I am looking for people from your community to join me in developing this virtual city, and see what kind of adventure we can be taken on building. Below are a few links related to the city.

      Welcome!

Saw something you liked in someone's screenshot but can't find it? Vaguely remember seeing something once, but you don't know where it is?
Wondering whether or not a plugin of a certain type exists?

This is the thread where you can ask for help finding things.

When asking, please be as descriptive and specific as possible. This can help people to understand what you're looking for.
If possible, screenshots are also encouraged.

This thread is a direct continuation of the original topic, which got too big. Someone might have already been looking for the same thing as you, so checking there first might get you your answer faster.

P.S. If you would like a particular BAT to be made, please request it in the BAT Request Thread.

      G'day there!
I am now in the process of creating my first of many BATs using GMAX.
This is a mid-rise residential block of units of 6 floors on Queensland's Gold Coast.
Thanks heaps for all of the advice so far. I have been referring to the BAT Essentials and I will catch up on any other tutorials.
I made each floor 3 metres in height and the splines are extruded by 0.3 metres. So far, I grouped all of the completed walls in case I need to move them for some reason. I'm thinking of, when scaling the whole thing to fit in with the visuals in SimCity 4 Deluxe, it won't look like a dwarf (I hope that it will work out).
I made the doors red and windows blue so that I know what is what. I did create a standard primitive (shown as dark green).
All of the dimensions are pure and utter guesses as the Google Earth Pro way of gathering dimensions doesn't seem to work on my laptop and desktop for some bizarre reason. I used metres as the unit of measurement.
Please feel free to give some much appreciated advice, it would be pretty helpful.

Is there a tutorial i can follow for importing custom 3d objects i made into SimCity 4? like if i wanted to put a statue into a city in SimCity 4, how would i do that?
I know i would need to use a program called Gmax and building architect, but im not sure how to do it with that.
Also, would i need to resize the statue in Gmax first? and if so, how big would i need to make it?
does anyone know of any tutorial i could follow? please help <3
