Simtropolis 8.1.x - Bugs & Issues Report Thread

415 posts in this topic

Hi everyone!

With a completely new forum software, it's time for a brand new bugs thread...

When reporting issues, it always helps to be as descriptive as possible, such as by including the following info:

  • A summary of the issue.
  • Screenshots / videos to highlight what's wrong (with annotations if applicable).
Images are best uploaded to an online image host, and the direct link pasted into the editor.

  • Your system info (e.g. browser version / operating system, device type).
  • When the issue started, or how often it can be reproduced.
  • Any error messages shown?

This can help us to reproduce the problems, and then work on finding solutions. ;)

Thanks all for your help!

Known bugs and issues can be found below in the following post. We'll work and aim to get these fixed ASAP.

  • Status updates are disabled by default for new members (in profile settings).

  • For homepage feature headlines, capitalisation is only shown on the first letter of a word (E.g. "SC4" is displayed as "Sc4").

  • On the STEX, the "Top Downloads" and "Top Submitters" sidebar blocks show incorrect totals (currently disabled).

I'm also getting the EX1054 issue. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a pattern to the errors, they just occur randomly whilst browsing the forums.

Edit: Seems to always happen when opening the forums for the first time, navigating to them from the homepage.

Yup same here, the navigated forum shows up when you hit refresh.     Seems to be more when you are exiting back up the forum tree rather than going in...

I have been getting Error Code EX1054 fairly regularly as well, both when first navigating to the forums an also when navigating up and down the forum trees.  This error appears both on Win 7 IE11 and with Android mobile web.

I consistently get the error on the main forum page, but strangely the two featured threads still show. Might want to check there, just to be safe.

I get the error message on every forum page unless I reload. Oddly enough when I am not logged in I have fewer problems.

"Sorry, there is a problem

Something went wrong. Please try again.

Error code: EX1054"

Not a minute ago, Win7, IE 11

Also, I've just tried to swat your fly sig, well done on making it both annoying and believable :P

Trying to choose a new GIF avatar doesn't seem to work. It's saying this type of fily is not allowed (standard .gif)

Also, what happened to those stats showing top posters of the day, all-time posters etc.? Are they gone forever?

Things have improved slightly after that last break.  The response time for me on a broadband wired connection is very, very good indeed.

At this time we have

--- www.simtropolis.com ping statistics ---
5 packets transmitted, 5 received, 0% packet loss, time 8116ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 25.209/32.486/36.563/3.912 ms

I think this can be described as a hot connection.  33 ms is about 10 times faster than the expected worst case for shared sites.  Well done.

As mentioned in my tweet, there was a network incident last night at around 11:30 PM EST at the datacenter. They were attempting to offload network traffic while they resolved the issue and during that time we had intermittent connectivity. They did resolve the issue a couple hours later.

About the contributors, isn't that only referring to the rep-points?

      Hello everyone,
As we know, the SC3000.com and SC4ever.com look to be not maintained except for availability. No more features were added to these site. And, some interactive features are disabled due to merging the site with Simtropolis. By this, I'm deciding to start old content migration from these site.
      Intro
The project missions are to provide old contents about SimCity 2000, 3000, and 4 to new users and to preserve old contents. Our vision is want to biggest preservative in the SimCity community. There aren't more info to be discussed here.
      Progress
We are copied contents from SC4ever.com Knowledge Tree (this is very important thing) 95% and we'll copy remaining useful contents and we'll going to SC3000.com content migration. Support us by reading the "Contribution" section.
      Contribute
Want to contribute? You can PM me with including some data: your name and your interest (are you want to copy all contents or SC3000.com/SC4ever.com). I'll review your profile (new profiles are allowed, but they are must active and has time and commitment to copy the contents). The content copying is allowed by @Dirktator as long as you don't selling the data and with proper attribution (including the source site and the original author).
I hope, you want to join my team and give benefits to all.
      Thank you.

Hi guys, I am struggling to get my game to load correctly.
I unsubed all mods when the game was working in an attempt to get the editor to work (wont be doing that again) and since this i can now no longer get into the game.
I start the game and it crashes at the Paradox blackscreen. I have tried to load the game with no mods, but no change. I can however load without the workshop loaded.
I have looked at my output log file but cant make head or tails of this. ?
Can someone be so kind as to check this out for me

Over the past weeks, we've received several suggestions on expanding our donation methods. Some suggestions just aren't too viable for us, but several people have suggested bitcoins.
The question is, we're not sure how many of you guys use bitcoin who visit here and if you did, would it be something you would use to donate?
So we're tossing the question out to you.  Let us know if you have other suggestions. Thanks!

Simtropolis = where to keep images ? I had a FROG, now PHOTOBUCKET there is a box in Simtroplis. But there is no single Bank. We see that all the work turns to dust. There are normal thoughts?
I tried to work with OneDrive by Microsoft - but it only gives a link to my jpg. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?

I was just taking a look to the Milestone thread and realized I have no idea what those stars under our usernames and ranks in the forums mean. Sure they have a logic behind but it's a bit difficult to see for me, except that the users with most posts have their first star inside a shield or inside a banner...? But why some users with less posts have 5 stars and others have only 1 but the first one is shielded... ? Are they tied to our post count? You get it. Any Simtropolite ready to shed some light on this matter for me?
