Problem with orientation of ploppables

I've searched online and haven't found anything, so sorry if this has already been covered, but here's my problem:

Most of the time, when I want to change the orientation of a ploppable lot, I have no problem using the home/end keys and the lot rotates as I want it to.  Sometimes, though, the lot is like a magnet and refuses to let the orientation arrow point to any direction other than a road (or at least follows the street-road-avenue hierarchy).

So basically, I press home or enter, it rotates as desired for like a split second, then immediately rotates back to the arrow's "natural" position.  Like, so fast, that even when I click to prop directly after rotation, it has already rotated back.  And I'm talking about all ploppable lots, not just those which are transit-enabled.  It arises as a problem particularly with custom lots that are designed to point away from roads (under-elevated parks, pond pieces, certain embankment pieces).

Since this problem happens randomly (and only maybe 20% of the time), I'm wondering if a) it's something that sometimes doesn't load upon game start-up, or b) I'm accidentally hitting some "smart-key" during some game sessions which turn this feature on or off.

Anyone else have this problem?  Any ideas on how to fix it?

Thanks!

That only ever happens if you're trying to plop something that's touching a road. Lots will auto-rotate to be pointing towards a road if you hover it near one. Either be fast about it (though it takes a bit of skill) or destroy the section of road it's touching before plopping.

If you're placing near a puzzle piece and you don't want to rebuild it (which is a common predicament), you will need to be fast about it.

You can also get this issue when you try to plop traffic enabled lots. Just removing the roads and then redraw them after plopping usually works.

This happens to me too, especially with highway and/ or other street/road intersections. I hate to "speed" plop compete with the game, so I just bulldoze the problem causing neighborlot , plop my lot and then replop the street/road piece.
