farm traffic volume

Recommended Posts

Why are farms making the roadways so congested?  That's not real life... is there a plugin that would lower the traffic on the backroads through my farms that I can add?

You could try this.

It says it may not be compatible with other traffic mods, though, including NAM.

Farm roads are often congested by heavy farm equipment moving around on the roads.  The best way to handle that is to keep the farms off your main drags.  Isolate them a little, away from main roads, provide them with freight rail to dispose of their produce.

I live in a farming area, and some of the equipment moving on the concession roads is truly something dreamed up by some engineer who has had too much white lightening.  I've seen some seeders that when unfolded would take up a four lane expressway.  Since we are getting near the time of the harvest, the Conservative platforms (manure spreaders) are being serviced for use afterwards.

Freight truck traffic will always show up near industrial zones, including farm zones.  Keep in mind that the visual traffic in this game is somewhat random and does not completely reflect the actual traffic.  The road may not be nearly as congested as it looks.  The best way to tell is to use the Traffic Zone Data view.

It definitely isn't.  Using this mod with the NAM will break various portions of the NAM.

Do you suppose that's why my TuLEPS and customized interchanges won't allow to be used when I upload to the NAM 31.2 ??? Those show available to use on the menu but they won't let me use them if that makes any sense.... and the link above, I do have that in my plug in folder

Interoperability of plugins, especially those that affect the transit network, are in no way guaranteed to be compatible.  31 was so large and comprehensive I took all my old tweaks out before I installed it.

No; the SPAM mod wouldn't prevent you from using them; they just wouldn't work properly.  The SPAM mod basically replaces the NAM traffic simulator with a traffic simulator that's just a slight variation on the original Maxis one.

On the PEG site, there are clear warnings about the SPAM traffic controller if one bothers to read things.  Naturally it is a separate download, and if you didn't download it, you haven't got it.
