A Few quick questions!

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm still a bit rusty with this game as I haven't played a SC title for a very long time, I would like just some basic explanations on certain things I have come across from my experiences with this game so far!

1 - What's the best way to get Medium and high density buildings while keeping the wealth as low as possible, if that's possible?

2 - Can a city thrive without Industry or is it absolutely required to survive - I want to make an education focused city free from industry if possible!

3 - Is it possible to build  a settlement which doesn't max out everything in terms of size - I want to have a few smaller settlements in my region with maybe a few thousand people so is it possible to halt growth or is it just perpetual per say?

I appreciate that you may not take the time to answer especially considering my status here, although i'd be very grateful for some responses! thanks!

1. I haven't experimented with that yet, but try keeping services minimal, and only plopping the $ parks.. none of the $$ or $$$ parks. You might also try taxing the R$$ and R$$$ out of your city.

2. Apparently, you can build just a residential city, but you might want to have commercial/industrial in a connected city in your region so they have some jobs to go to somewhere. :P

3. I remember some screenshots from the beta from people who built nice rural towns. It's just a matter of what roads you put in. If you keep everything low density, and don't zone that much, not much will be able to grow.

Hope that helps a bit!

on 2&3 that's great! thank you :)

on #1, I was under the impression that good service access was a factor for density of buildings?

No problem!

It's entirely possible.. I honestly haven't played enough to give a solid answer. Though while I type this, it does make sense to me that land value would be the biggest determinant on what wealth level grows. And services don't seem to affect that much.
