If you have the original SimCity 4, you can't install the EP1 update. That only updates Rush Hour/Deluxe. To update the original game, you'll nee the patch that updates to 1.0.272.0 (Link)

I you do have Deluxe and you've made changes to the game's original files (such as a no-cd patch), the update will not be applied since the original game files aren't present.

  • Hi,

I fixed it. I needed SKU patch 2 instead of one. I have a new problem now. I just finished patching up and modding the game. Now when I load the game and try to load a new city it crashes just when the city is about to load. Happens everytime at the same time.

Sounds like messing about with patches has stepped on something. Try a reinstall then apply the proper EP1 version. And if you want nightlights you'll also need to get up to 1,1,640 from the BAT page (just the patch) at the same source.

  • I think its a mod. The game worked until I finished installing about 200 mods (which I dont want to have to repeat as it was very painful).

It looks like you have fallen victim to "download fever' and did not take the time to test and/or read the readme. Unfortunately we can't help.

Start with a fresh plugins folder - add modds one by one....

There really is no such thing as a shortcut... every action has a cost.

And, if you don't read the documentation that comes with a download, on your head be it. If you want to locate the (one, you hope) mod that's causing the problem there is a search method in one of the pinned threads.

Download in haste, repent at leisure.
