Comprehensive SimCity Music Collection, Version 3

Aw, sweet! These are my jams, yo!

The SimCity 2000 music is especially nostalgic to me...you could say those are my 'jams'. I'm proud of how I managed to capture their original sound (mostly) into MP3 files.

This is great. I love the music from SimCity games, although I have only been able to hear the music of SC3k and SC4. SC2k and the original SC were before my time. I plan to play them one day, though.

Anywho, thanks for uploading these. The music of these games is a part of my life. :)

The first two SimCity games are practically abandonware; you shouldn't have any trouble finding them one way or another. It's worth it, too. Glad you like the collection!

I tried the DOS version of SC2K last summer. But my god! the music, while sounding like the SC2K music files in the first collection, was awful! Is there a way to have the "good" sound (like the Mac version) in the DOS version?

I don't believe so, not unless you mute the in-game music and use an external media player.

These songs bring back "memories" of cities I made when I first got the game. But, do you really need to upload them online—or the SC4 songs, at least—if we can just locate them in our program files folder? Or are you doing this just for convenience?

Oh, Thank You, Biff ...

Very useful for someone ...

But I like listen another music from distant Media Center - FM ROCK Wave as a rule ...

All SC4 connected music is a brake to SC4. I haven't any music in my game ...

Thank You and Good Luck ...

Convenience. The included music files in SC4 aren't named. :P

This is some great stuff you got here biff, thanks :)

No problem. It's the least I could do for the music.

You are certainly welcome. I like the SimCity 3000 (and Unlimited) music too; it's some of my favorite in the series. 3000 as a whole is sort of underrated IMO.

On a related note, I used to mute every song but the classical jazz music back when I was playing 3000 (not Unlimited unfortunately) in my younger days because I didn't like any of the others. I eventually got sick of the jazz and muted that too. Pity my formerly narrow tastes.

I also once had a copy of SC3K Unlimited (my first) with no working music or sound effects. As you might expect, it detracted from the game significantly.

(Bump.)

I was just playing SC4 with the music on today. I went into settings and chose the songs, myself.

Excellent.

This is really nice! Is this Sim Mars soundtrack in there somewhere?

I'm afraid not.

Anyhoo, I think it's time for some download statistics! I uploaded the collection on the 20th of March, and it's the 31st as i'm writing this. Part 1-1 has had 22 downloads, while part 1-2 has had 17. Part 2's had 27 downloads, Part 3 had 17 downloads and Part 4 has had 29 downloads, the most of them all. That's 112 downloads in total!

Wow that brought back memories. I had 2000 SE and the SNES versions when I was a kid... I'm off to go do a jig to the theme now!

I am glad you liked it. As of April the 7th (the date i am typing this) the section with the 2000 SE and SNES version music still has the most downloads...45 of them to be exact. Quite the number of downloads!

5 days later and Part 4 now has had 53 downloads. It's still the most popular part, beating out Part 2 (with the SC3KU music which is very good) which has only 44 downloads.

(shameless bump)

I've downloaded all parts and plopped them on an mp3 cd for in-car entertainment (yes, I am that sad)...

...together with my self-produced collection of Lemmings! and Oh No! More Lemmings! music (Acorn version, mp3'd)...

(Even sadder?!)

There's nothing sad about this music, dude.

biff, where do I put the music for in-game use?

There are concise instructions in the Readme file in Part 4, which now has 60 downloads. They should get you moving on the right track.

I think I should tell you guys that I posted this collection on another forum at the same time as I did here. That explains the large number of downloads, at least.

Just a reminder...

Bumping of threads.

Users may not post within their own thread simply for the sake of making that thread appear at the top of the forum. This is commonly referred to as "bumping". The edit function should be used to add to a previous post. Please do not revive or bump old threads after they have dropped to the later pages, unless there is significant new topical information to add.

Thanks.

Wait... this list isn't as comprehensive as you think. The SimCity 3000 music is missing! Biff has the music from SimCity 3000 Unlimited (the expansion) but not the original.

I have found the music. Sadly you have to download each one separately... there is no zip file containing them all of em. However, it is quite well worth the effort!

Feels a little strange playing SC4 with this music in the background :P

Despite the fact that it says SC3KU/World music, it actually contains all the music from SC3K (since Unlimited was a bit like SC4Deluxe in being a standalone game with both the original game and added content included)

Actually, Biff's download is more complete, since it includes "SIM Broadway", which for some reason was {removed from the SC3KU release}.

There were however some additional songs on the disk (that played when the autoplay window loaded) that aren't in any of the downloads. I lent my copy of Unlimited to someone, so I don't have access to them at the moment.

Also, I just would like to say "Thanks!" for converting the MIDI files from the older games. Now I can listen to them without the delay in loading MIDIs that seems to happen in newer version of Window!

I'll keep that in mind. I wanted to keep the thread up top so that more people might find it, but I suppose I'll have to wait for actual replies now (or at least reply with something interesting/an update). No problem.

      Description:
This is a set of 30 growable R$ Farmhouse lots that are designed to fit in rural settings.
There are two lot sizes - 3x5 and 5x5. The odd lot sizes was intended to ensure that you will have a good chance to grow these lots.
Be sure to use the shift key and measure out the exact lot size you wish (3x5 or 5x5)
Each lot size has an assortment of lots that vary from Stage 1 to 3.
The look of the lots mirror the growth stages, with Stage 1 lots containing 1 or 2 houses, while stage 2 and 3 lots are more developed.
As always, prop families are used exensivly and you will not see the same lot appear twice.
These 'farmhouses' will only grow on the Chicago tile set (growth stages 1-3).

      Dependencies:
BSC Textures Pack CycleDog Vol 1
BSC MEGA Props - CP Vol01
BSC MEGA Props - CP Vol02
BSC MEGA Props - SG Vol01
BSC Mega Props - JMyers Agriculture 01
BSC Mega Props - JMyers Agriculture 02
BSC MEGA Props - MJB Vol01
CP Early 19th Century Small $ Houses ('CP_Early19thCentury_Small$Houses.dat' file only)
JMyers Homes Vol 01 ('Props' and 'Textures' folders only)
JMyers Farms - Corn Crops Vol 2 (.sc4model and .desc files only - lot files are not necessary)
SPAM Super Resource Pack (If you already use the full SPAM MOD you do not need this)
Wild West Shotgun House Growable by onlyplace4 ('Wild West Shotgun House Props.dat' file only)
      wmp_fence_props03.dat
      wmp_garden_props02.dat
      KrashSpeed Mailbox Set
Maxis bldgprop_vol1.dat & bldgprop_vol2.dat (everyone should have these)

      Installation:
Simply unzip the file and put the entire 'SimCougs R$ Farmhouses' folder in your plugins (don't forget the dependencies).

      Developer notes:
I know, I know, you are all thinking "Holy stinkin' propbarf Batman!"
Yes, I realize the dependency list is extensive, but I like details on my lots, and these prop and texture packs have been hand-picked to offer the greatest bang for the buck.
As always, prop families were used extensively, so I guarantee you will not find the exact same lot twice (and if you do, you should buy a lotto ticket).
These lots were put together with my CJ 'New SorGun' in mind, so they have more historical/rural feel but they will not look out of place in your rural areas.
These lots look best when used in conjunction with other rural SC4 resources (like farm fields, orchards, etc).

      Support:
For questions regarding this set, please feel free to visit my Lot Development Thread (SimCoug's Lot Den).

      Special Thanks:
An extra special thanks goes out to krashspeed for allowing me to use and distribute his rural baskebtall hoop prop.
Thanks to OP4 for creating the BLAM blank, which was used as the model for these lots.
Thanks to the great BATers who generously shared their creations - this set would not be possible without them.
Also, thanks for the gang over at SimPeg for all the suggestions and encouragement.

      Welcome!

Saw something you liked in someone's screenshot but can't find it? Vaguely remember seeing something once, but you don't know where it is?
Wondering whether or not a plugin of a certain type exists?

This is the thread where you can ask for help finding things.

When asking, please be as descriptive and specific as possible. This can help people to understand what you're looking for.
If possible, screenshots are also encouraged.

This thread is a direct continuation of the original topic, which got too big. Someone might have already been looking for the same thing as you, so checking there first might get you your answer faster.

P.S. If you would like a particular BAT to be made, please request it in the BAT Request Thread.

      G'day there!
I am now in the process of creating my first of many BATs using GMAX.
This is a mid-rise residential block of units of 6 floors on Queensland's Gold Coast.
Thanks heaps for all of the advice so far. I have been referring to the BAT Essentials and I will catch up on any other tutorials.
I made each floor 3 metres in height and the splines are extruded by 0.3 metres. So far, I grouped all of the completed walls in case I need to move them for some reason. I'm thinking of, when scaling the whole thing to fit in with the visuals in SimCity 4 Deluxe, it won't look like a dwarf (I hope that it will work out).
I made the doors red and windows blue so that I know what is what. I did create a standard primitive (shown as dark green).
All of the dimensions are pure and utter guesses as the Google Earth Pro way of gathering dimensions doesn't seem to work on my laptop and desktop for some bizarre reason. I used metres as the unit of measurement.
Please feel free to give some much appreciated advice, it would be pretty helpful.

This is the original lanmark pack for simcity 3000. Since you can't download it from the official site anymore i decided to upload it here on Simtropolis.

      Installation:
go to ur simcity 3000 folder then go to apps then place ur unpacked folder in the directory

Mod Edit: Please note we don't have a separate section for SimCity 3000 items, so for now this will remain in the SC4 section.

Is there a tutorial i can follow for importing custom 3d objects i made into SimCity 4? like if i wanted to put a statue into a city in SimCity 4, how would i do that?
I know i would need to use a program called Gmax and building architect, but im not sure how to do it with that.
Also, would i need to resize the statue in Gmax first? and if so, how big would i need to make it?
does anyone know of any tutorial i could follow? please help <3
