KOSC presents: Maxis Mansion Overhaul - Extension Set

Introduction

Ah, Maxis mansions... err... wait a minute!

This is the long overdue expansion pack for my Maxis Mansion Overhaul mod, which was released several eons ago. This set expands the original mod by taking advantage of new lot sizes, climate variation, and the strength of the individual models themselves to add further variation in your affluent areas.

Package Overview

This set contains a total of 33 lots. Some of the new features include:

  • climate variation: The original was purely focused on seasonal vegetation, and nothing more. This set varies that up by introducing "warmer" and "colder" lots, which can contain anything from tropical palm trees to spruces.
  • individual lots: Some models, especially the larger palazzo variants, don't function very well in a family due to the variation of sizes. These have been lotted individually and each have their own flair and unique design (mostly).
  • new general lot sizes: 2x4 and 3x5 sizes are available for a few of the mansion families, adding even more shapes and sizes.
  • mayor's mansion: The tiny mayor's house reward now joins the fray as a growable, in 3 distinct variations.

General Stats

The Mayor's House is the only new building and has a capacity of 10 R$$$ sims. It is available in the following lot configurations:

  • 1 3x3 front, stage 1
  • 2 2x3 front, stage 2

The rest of the mansions use the original descriptors and as such, have their stats untouched. Consult the README or view the screenshots for a more detailed breakdown of the lot stats.

Install Instructions

Drop the files in your My Documents/SimCity 4/Plugins folder.

Dependencies

Not mandatory, but highly recommended is the original Maxis Mansion Overhaul mod.

Textures

Enjoy!

User Feedback

Really nice work giving these a second chance at life (collectively with the original upload)*:thumb:.

It makes sense to make use of some of the maxis models which are there anyway (not adding extra space to our plugin folders). In the case of some of the originals, as well illustrated by your re-lots, it's mostly the lotting that made them a bit cringe worthy (those before and after shots speak volumes).

Oh, your initial link to the parent mod links back to this, (the one in the dependencies is correct though).

This month we're hoping for a little bit of a boost this month or next, in addition to covering the regular bills, we could benefit from some hardware upgrades. STEX Collector's Set gifts can now be sent to you via digital download as well as regular mail if you wish! Every donation dollar goes toward keeping Simtropolis online and humming along. Your contribution counts! Hardware Upgrades As our website community software improves with more and more features, and as we bolt on additional features such as chat, the increased load to handle all these new toys is taking the server a bit to task. You may have noticed that we'd been forced to temporarily disable the chat as we worked out allocating resources for more optimal performance. Following this, we've applied a number of 'soft' changes such as caching options and experimented with server configurations (nginx as proxy, for example), so the hardware aspect is also an area we'd like to focus on. The last time we upgraded hardware was back in 2012, prior to the release of SC13. Your contribution means a lot! Your donation will go toward helping us to 1.) migrate to a newer server or 2.) at least get some ram/cpu/storage updates and any other infrastructure hardware or services. Donate and Get a Gift or Donate Any Amount Thanks so much! - Dirktator & The Admins

      I Kellydale2003 present to you
      the Russian-Canadian-Torontonian
      inspired luxury residentials...

      Vohcem Condominiums!

Vohcem Condominiums on the Lakeshore is a 100% fictional tower inspired by the amazing condos of the South Core of Downtown Toronto located along Lakeshore Boulevard. The tall yet slim structures of Downtown Toronto's South Core house thousands of Toronto residents in their ultra-modern luxury condo suites! The most recent trend in condo markets has been the partial or full rental of the condo suites to local or international hotels... making the Toronto condo market boom even more and inspire more projects like this!
When I (Kellydale2003) first thought of building a tower like this I just started with a square, bent the edges, and rotated it slightly to break away from the traditional orientation of buildings in SimCity 4! The treated and inspired glass taught me an important lesson; Focal points can be made from the busy reflective windows. Therefore the yellow, blue, and grey facade was designed as a focal point for the whole tower... giving more culture and architectural interest to the tower.
Soaring at a humble 36 stories of 175.4m (120% for SimCity 4) it fits in a comfortable 2x3 (32x48m) lot.

The name "Vohcem" comes from the Russian word for the number "eight".

As my personal policy always abides... NO dependencies! (:

Download the MAXIS NIGHT file if you do not have SimFox's Darknight installed in your plugins!
Download the DARK NIGHT file if you have Dark Night installed!

ps; I do know that the phonetic version of 'eight' in Russian is spelled differently! But for anyone who knows Canadians... We like to spell things our own way and is still legally and officially the right way of spelling it! eh! (:

      ps2; You're on a Canadian website... So bleh :b you "Grammar-ologists!"

      WanWan Apartments, by Mattb325.
      ---------------------------------------
Inspired by the old Won Won Apartments on the Asian Tileset in SC3000, Wan Wan apartments have that real retro vibe of 1980's apartment buildings.
These are tall apartment complexes come in at 12 floors to capture the views and are solidly constructed from brick and coloured concrete infill panels.
Each building also has underground parking, there are two apartments on the ground floor, four apartments per floor from floors 1 through 9, and the four apartments on 11th and 12th floor apartments are 2 story penthouses with a lovely sun-terrace to lie down and soak up the rays before the 1990's rolled around and everyone was told not to sun-bake.
This version is not a 100% accurate copy, but it is true to the language of the architectural style of the original building and this is simply one that I made for myself, but have decided to share with the community.
The lot and models come in a few variations: all of them are growable R§§ iterations and there are both orthogonal - and - because it's a SC3000 building, a 45 degree version as well. The larger 6x6 and 8x8 lots are landscaped, and to help these grow, use the CTRL key while zoning. All lots are designed to grow on the Houston and Euro tilesets only.

Standard Federal Savings and Loan, by Mattb325.
      ---------------------------------------
A classic mid-century cantilevered building, this dual towered mid-rise is inspired by old architectural drawings from the 1960s.
The bulk of this building is fictional (eg, forecourt, entrance foyer and underground parking), but the external metal skeleton, 'eau-de-Nil' colour scheme of the wall panels and massings are true to the original.
The building comes in four easily growable lots: two growable high-wealth Commercial Office lots (3x4 and 4x4) and two high-wealth Commercial Services Lots (4x3 and 4x4...there is always an insatiable need for CS§§§ in game). Use the CTRL key while zoning to enable ease of development.
These mid-rises grow on all tilesets.

Hello everyone. I'm playing simcity4 with NAM installed. I was able to make 6x6 lot sized HDR zone until i removed an unaffiliated plugin. Now game just puts a street every 4 tiles making my hdr zones made of 4x4 lots. How can i change this to automatically divide every 6 tiles instead of 4, making 6x6 zones as i drag mouse?
Here in the picture you can see before (right) and after (left) zones. They are both high wealth residential and they are both drawn with a single mouse drag.
Plugin was demand ordinance btw, putting it back didn't solve the issue.

      Thanks in advance

    • It doesn't even look like a convention center. Looks like a building at a community college or a state university.
    • Wow, what a fantastic building! I like the intricate shapes of this one, and the many different areas. There are so many details to take in that it really takes a while to grasp the entire structure. I also agree that there's not much going in in terms of conference centres, so this really fills a gap. Kudos for all the reward modding too - I know that part is pretty tedious und ungratifying work (unless you're some sick masochist ). What I also like is how well the lot complements the building, and it acomplishes that with so few and so simple means. Just a few default overlays and props, and we have a lot that leaves nothing to be desired. The one tiny suggestion I have is that all your recent buildings have had their names (and, in cases like this one, also their function) baked into the model. This is not bad generally because it allows a better visual appearance, but sometimes it limits flexibility a bit. The building in question could totally double as a modern city college, for example, or maybe even as a university (not all modern universities are sitting on a lush campus, after all!), but then there's the "Convention Center" lettering in front. I guess it can be covered with cleverly placed flora props... Fun fact: I never knew that there was an Occupant Group "burning dude maker" - what the...???
    • Do we need to delete Oppie's and replace yours?   Ps. Thank you so much for revamping this amazing mod.
